The Last Will Be first, And The First Will Be Last."

Jesus told his disciples this parable (The Parable of Workers In The Vineyard) from the Gospel according to Matthew 20:1-16a)

"The Kingdom of Heaven is like a Big-Tech BPO Company and Agricultural Conglomerate operating in Metro Manila that went out at 5:00 AM to hire contractual contractuals for its vineyard."

The 5:00 AM Shift (The Early Commuters)
After agreeing to pay them the statutory minimum wage—roughly ₱755 a day under the newly issued Wage Order—he sent them into the vineyard.

THE 5:00 AM COMMUTER EXPERIENCE

• 3:30 AM: Wake up in Bulacan/Cavite.

• 4:15 AM: Fight through a 300-meter MRT queue.

• 5:00 AM: Clock in, sweat-drenched, coffee in hand.

• Expected Compensation: ₱755 + severe back pain.

These workers endured four hours of EDSA gridlock, two broken MRT escalators, and three UV Express transfers just to log their first billable hour.

The Midday Additions
Going out again at around 9:00 AM, noon, and 3:00 PM, the Landowner found others who were stuck in traffic, delayed by torrential rains, or waiting for their 6-month endo contracts to be renewed at HR.

"You too, go into my vineyard," he said, "and I will give you whatever is just."

[ THE TIME-STAMPED HIRING CYCLE ]

5:00 AM WORKERS: Bathed in sweat, braved flooded underpasses. ---> 3:00 PM WORKERS: Showed up right after the aircon turned on. ---> 5:00 PM WORKERS: Arrived just as HR was distributing evening snacks!

At 5:00 PM—just as the shift was wrapping up—he found a group standing near the water cooler doing TikTok trends. "Why do you stand here idle all day?" he asked.

"Because no agency hired us, Boss. Zero experience, must be 18–21 years old with a 4-year degree," they replied.

"Go into the vineyard," he said.

The Pay Slip Audit
When evening came, the Landowner said to his Payroll Specialist: "Summon the workers and give them their pay, starting with the ones hired at 5:00 PM and ending with the ones who woke up at 3:30 AM."

THE METRO MANILA PAYROLL DISPARITY

A.

SHIFT ARRIVAL TIME - 5:00 PM Arrival (Worked 1 Hour)

PAYSLIP TOTAL - ₱755 Cash + Pro-rated Allowance!

B.

SHIFT ARRIVAL TIME - 5:00 AM Arrival (Worked 12 Hours + Traffic)

PAYSLIP TOTAL - ₱755 Cash.

When the 5:00 AM pioneers stepped up to the cashier, they expected an additional Overtime Differential, Hazard Pay, and Traffic Stress Allowance. But each of them received the exact same ₱755.

Naturally, the 5:00 AM shift began to grumble against the Landowner:"Boss, unfair 'to! Itong mga pumasok ng 5:00 PM, isang oras lang nag-type sa Excel, wala pang pawis! Kami, sumabak sa baha sa Taft Avenue, pumasok nung bagyo, tapos pareho lang kami ng sinahod?!"

THE LANDOWNER'S CORPORATE REJOINING: "Friend, I am doing you no wrong. Did you not agree to the ₱755 rate? Take what is yours and go. Am I not allowed to do what I choose with my own corporate budget? Or are you envious because I am generous?"

The Moral of the Modern Vineyard
In the Philippine corporate context, the parable yields two distinct realizations:

Spiritual Reality: Grace is not an hourly wage. God's generosity does not operate on punch-cards, tenure, or how many years you spent suffering in the administrative heat.

Electoral Reality: If this happened in a local government unit, the 5:00 PM arrival who got paid the full day's wage would instantly be appointed Department Head, while the 5:00 AM worker would still be waiting for their contractual regularization paper after 10 years.

For the last shall be first, the first shall be last, and everyone on EDSA will still be stuck in traffic regardless of when they left the house.

Pope Leo XIV said: The story taught us that the labourers from the first hour are disappointed: they cannot see the beauty of the gesture of the landowner, who was not unjust, but simply generous; who looked not only at merit, but also at need.

God wants to give his Kingdom, that is, full, eternal and happy life, to everyone. And this is what Jesus does with us: he does not establish rankings, he gives all of himself to those who open their hearts to him.

Political Satire: The Presiding Officer's Selective Gavel

(Note: If you saw and read the post yesterday, the intro bears the exact same prologue and foreword. Don't think it is a replica of yesterday's post, or that we made a mistake. This post is actually a continuation... We feel it is appropriate to include it again given the scenarios presented, which share parallels and similarities with the story and lessons from yesterday's post. Please bear with us)

The Parable of the Unmerciful Servant is a story told by Jesus in the Gospel of Matthew (Matthew 18:21–35). It teaches that people must forgive others for small sins because God has forgiven them for much larger wrongs.

The Story of the Parable

-Peter's Question: Peter asks Jesus how many times he should forgive a person who wrongs him, suggesting seven times. Jesus replies to forgive an unlimited number of times ("seventy-seven times"

-The Huge Debt: A king wants his servants to pay back what they owe. One man owes the king 10,000 talents (an amount so large he could never pay it back). The king orders the man and his family sold as slaves to pay the debt.

-Mercy Given: The servant falls to his knees and begs for time. The king feels pity and cancels the entire massive debt, letting him go free

-The Small Debt: That SAME SERVANT leaves and sees a fellow worker who owes him only 100 denarii (a very small amount, worth just a few months or days of wages).

-No Mercy Shown: The servant grabs the other worker by the neck and demands payment.

-The King's Anger: Other workers see this and tell the king. The angry king calls the first servant wicked, reminds him that his huge debt has been completely erased, and hands him over to be punished until he repays everything.

Core Lessons:
-Forgiveness Is Non-Negotiable: Because God has wiped away an infinite debt of the servant, he is expected to extend the same leniency and mercy to his fellow worker.

-Selective Accountability Backfires: When the unmerciful servant demands absolute, ruthless justice for his fellow worker while relying on total leniency for himself leads to institutional and moral destruction.

As we fast-forward to real time in the Philippines, focusing on the impeachment trial, the Parable of the Unmerciful Servant doctrine is showing again prominently as the best example to emphasize the parable's lessons.

If you want to ask who, some critics are pointing to Chiz Escudero - he was conspicuously singled out since he is the presiding officer. All eyes are on him.

Act I: The Forgiven Past and the Golden Gavel
Once upon a time, the Presiding Officer faced public skepticism over procedural stumbles—the famous "forthwith" brouhaha that delayed the process for a year made the public wonder if the trial would ever start.

But the Filipino people, rich in patience and mercy, granted him a clean slate. They handed him the golden gavel and said: "Go forth, be firm, and stand for constitutional duty, not political alliances."

Equipped with this complete public forgiveness, the Presiding Officer takes his center seat, sworn to ensure absolute impartiality, fairness, and fidelity to the Constitution.

Act II: The Great Selective Blindspot
As the proceedings unfold, several senator-judges abandon neutrality.

Some cross-examine witnesses like defense attorneys, others air personal grievances on the Senate floor, and one even posts a spliced video on social media to spin the day's events. Just how far would the senator-judges go to protect the accused?

The public expects the Presiding Officer to step in, pound the gavel, and remind everyone that judges must rise above personalities.

Instead, the gavel remains silent. The double standard plays out clearly.

THE PRESIDING OFFICER'S GAVEL MATRIX

IF THE LINE IS CROSSED BY:
1. -Allied Senator-Judges ──► Gavel is muted; classified as "lively debate"
2. -Defense Advocates ──► Complete patience and wide judicial leeway
3. -House Prosecution ──► STRIKE THE TABLE! Immediate sub judice warning!

When a prosecutor posts a basic text graphic explaining standard evidence rules, the Presiding Officer's eye instantly catches it. The gavel falls like thunder! A stern lecture on sub judice ensues, while the spliced video shared by a senator-judge remains unaddressed in the background.

Act III: The Audience's Realization
The public watching the live stream from home acts as the king's observant servants. They look at the screen, then at their notes, and ask: "If we forgive the massive debt of procedural delays(the forthwith narrative), why is the gavel only used on one side of the room?"

The satire concludes with a clear political reality: Forgiveness gives a leader the chance to do better.

When a presiding officer calls out minor infractions on the prosecution while ignoring open partiality, cross-examinations turn into defense speeches, and social media spin from judges, the public sees right through the curtain.

True redemption requires a gavel that strikes equally hard on both sides of the aisle.

The Parable Of The Unmerciful Servant (Rules For Thee ... But Not For Me)

The angry king calls the first servant wicked, reminds him that his huge debt was completely erased, and hands him over to be punished until he pays back everything.

The Meaning and the Lessons

-10,000 Talents vs. 100 Denarii: A single talent was equivalent to roughly 20 years of an average worker's labor. Ten thousand talents represented an astronomical, unpayable national debt—billions of dollars in today's currency.

-In contrast, 100 denarii represented about 100 days of basic labor (a modest personal loan).

-The Unpayable Debt: The king represents God, and the vast debt (10,000 talents) represents human sin and falling short of divine righteousness. No human effort or time could ever pay it off.

-The Mirror of Hypocrisy: The servant whose debt was forgiven chokes a colleague because he could not pay the 100 denarii he owed him. This highlights how absurd some people can be; they want their debts forgiven but are unable to do the same for the people who owe them.

Now, let us fast-forward the story to our current political system, where the Parable of the Unmerciful Servant is adapted daily into a political masterpiece.

In Matthew 18:21–35, Jesus uses extreme economic contrasts to illustrate the nature of divine forgiveness and human hypocrisy:

[ THE "10,000 TALENTS" TRANSGRESSION ] Example
• Spliced trial videos shared on social media.
• Press conferences calling proceedings "fabricated."
• Outcome: Complete immunity demanded.

[ THE "100 DENARII" MISDEMEANOR ] Example
• A prosecutor (Atty Ligutan) posting a basic quote from the Revised Rules on Evidence about misleading questions not allowed.
• Outcome: Full microscopic outrage.

Act I: The P612.5M Bailout
A prominent respondent faces charges involving P612.5 million in confidential funds, alongside public statements directly attacking the trial's integrity as "fabricated narratives". Concurrently, a sitting Senator-Judge faces an ethics complaint over sharing a spliced video that omitted crucial legal context.

Yet, when called to answer for these massive Rule 18 sub judice breaches, the defense panel demands ultimate constitutional leniency, political immunity, and total understanding from the court. The tribunal nods, granting immense leeway and procedural grace.

Act II: The Facebook Post Outrage About Misleading Questions Not Allowed.
Five minutes after walking out of the chamber with full immunity, defense allies spot a prosecutor, Atty. Ligutan, taking a coffee break.

They notice that prosecutor Atty. Amando Ligutan posted a brief explanation on Facebook about how the legal rules on misleading questions work.

THE RULE 18 DISPUTE MATRIX

• PROSECUTION: "I posted a text summary of standard evidence rules to clarify courtroom procedure for the public to understand."

• DEFENSE: "Sub Judice Violation! Formal Manifestation! Bring out the legal microscope immediately!"

The very figures who demanded total forgiveness for spliced media campaigns grab the prosecutor by the collar, demanding immediate sanctions over a single Facebook post.

Act III: The Public Audit Committee
The public watching the trial from home parallel as the king in the parable observing the hypocrisy.

When the court demands absolute adherence to Rule 18 for a minor prosecutor's post while granting a free pass to high-profile figures who post spliced videos and attack trial evidence, the hypocrisy becomes impossible to hide.

THE SELECTIVE OPTICS FORMULA

IF SUB JUDICE VIOLATION IS COMMITTED BY:

• a. House Prosecutor ──► MICROSCOPE ASAP (Immediate censure demanded)
• Senator-Judge ──► READING GLASSES only (Dismissed as harmless context)
• Respondent ──► BLIND FOLD (Shielded by political immunity)

Just like the Unmerciful Servant, those who attempt to use "Rules for Thee, But Not for Me" quickly learn that the public sees right through the double standard—and in the end, selectively applied rules ruin the integrity of the whole court.

An ethics complaint was filed against a Senator-Judge over a spliced video from the impeachment proceedings, as detailed in ANC's YouTube coverage of the ethics complaint filing. This report directly covers the sub judice debate and the ethics inquiry surrounding official commentary during the impeachment trial.

The Gospel of Five Loaves of Bread and Two Fish Vis A Vis the Modern Government Procurement Process

In today’s Gospel (Matthew 14:13–21), Jesus faces a situation that every Filipino politician, LGU official, and Barangay Captain knows all too well: a massive, hungry crowd in the middle of nowhere, with zero budget allocated.

However, the contrast between the Gospel and modern Philippine governance could not be sharper.

THE FEEDING OF THE 5,000: COMPARATIVE MATRIX

A
-[ THE GOSPEL MODEL ] -"Give them food yourselves."

-[ THE LGU/CONGRESS MODEL ] -"Declare a State of Calamity!"

B
-[ THE GOSPEL MODEL ] - 5 Loaves + 2 Fish → 12 Baskets Surplus

-[ THE LGU/CONGRESS MODEL ] -₱50M Budget = 2 Loaves + 1 Sardine Can

C.
-[ THE GOSPEL MODEL ] - "They all ate and were satisfied."

-[ THE LGU/CONGRESS MODEL ]"Wait for the TARP picture for the mayor first before feeding."

Phase 1: The Disciples as Bureaucrats
When the evening arrived, the disciples panicked. They looked at the crowds and immediately resorted to the standard governmental protocol: pass the problem to someone else.

“This is a deserted place and it is already late; dismiss the crowds so that they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.”

In modern Philippine political terms, this is the classic "Not Our Office's Jurisdiction" response.

The Disciples’ Plan: "Send them away. Let the private sector handle it. Market forces will solve hunger!"

Jesus’ Response: "They need not go away; you give them something to eat yourselves."

Imagine telling a local politician or agency head: "Don't tell the citizens to go home—feed them right now using what's in front of you."

The panic would be catastrophic. The legal team would instantly object that feeding the crowd without a formal Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) resolution violates RA 9184!

Phase 2: The Budgetary Crisis
The disciples conducted an immediate audit of available assets: Five loaves and two fish.

If this were a typical Philippine government project, the official budget breakdown would look very different. Compare the Gospel Resources and the LGU Procurement Proposal

GOSPEL RESOURCES:

• 5 Loaves of Bread

• 2 Dried Fish (Tuyo/Tinapa)

• Result: Fed 5,000 men + women & children; 12 baskets left over.

LOCAL GOVERNMENT PROCUREMENT PROPOSAL:

• Requested Budget: ₱150,000,000 (Supplemental Budget)

• Tarpaulin Printing: ₱ 12,000,000 (Featuring Mayor's Face)

• Administrative Fees: ₱ 45,000,000

• Actual Food Delivered: 1 Instant Noodle Pack + 1 Cup of Rice per family

• Result: Hungry citizens; 0 baskets left over; 3 graft cases against the mayor filed.

Phase 3: The Miracle of Sharing vs. The Miracle of "Disappearing"
Jesus raises his eyes, blesses the bread, breaks it, and hands it over. The Gospel miracle is a Miracle of Multiplication through Generosity

In local politics, however, we routinely witness the Miracle of Subtraction through Distribution.

At the Central Office: 10,000 Relief Packs.

At the Regional Hub: 7,500 Relief Packs.

At the Municipal Level: 4,000 Relief Packs.

At the Barangay Hall: 500 Relief Packs (reserved for voters registered under the incumbent's party).

By the time the bread reaches the crowd, it hasn't multiplied—it’s been chopped into croutons.

The Gospel tells us that “they all ate and were satisfied, and they picked up the fragments left over—twelve wicker baskets full.”

But the difference between Christian leadership BEFORE and the government leadership NOW is too obvious; you don't need a 20-20 vision to actually see them.

(The Gospel Leadership): Starts with genuine pity/compassion ──► Shares what little exists ──► Abundance for all.

(The Modern Government Leadership: Starts with a photo-op ──► Holds a press conference ──► "Kasalanan ito ng nakaraang administrasyon!"

The Gospel serves as a sharp reminder: True leadership is not about taking credit for a giant budget; it’s about having the heart to look at a needy crowd, refusing to send them away empty-handed, and multiplying hope through simple, honest sharing.

Until our leaders learn to emulate the 12 full wicker baskets of LEFTOVERS, instead of pocketing the CRUMBS, the country will keep waiting for a miracle at every relief distribution line!

The Parable Of The Yeast Vis a Vis The Current Political Landscape

Today’s Gospel presentation brings us the Parable of the Yeast (Matthew 13:33), a remarkably concise one-sentence lesson with a profound impact.

Jesus describes a woman mixing a tiny pinch of yeast into three measures of flour until the entire batch of dough rises and doubles in size.

As theology reminds us, yeast is a powerful metaphor that cuts both ways - either good or bad.

In the chaotic kitchen of the 2026 Philippine political landscape, our leaders have mastered both recipes: the yeast of explosive growth and the highly toxic, infectious "yeast of the Pharisees."

Let us look at how a little bit of leavening is currently baking the biggest political drama in the country.

1. The Positive Yeast
In the positive sense, yeast represents how something microscopic can expand until it impacts the entire world. In our current political landscape, this is perfectly mirrored by the Yeast of the Audit Trail.

[ THE EXPONENTIAL BAKING PROCESS ]

* THE TINY PINCH OF YEAST: A single, solitary signature on a confidential fund acknowledgement receipt under the name of a snack food: "Mary Grace Piattos."

* THE FLOUR: The daily operational budget of the Office of the Vice President.

* THE LEAVENED BATCH: A massive, nation-stopping Senate Impeachment Trial that has completely consumed the evening news, the NBI Cybercrime Division, and every TikTok algorithm in the country.

Who would have thought that a tiny, three-inch piece of paper could act like high-grade baking powder?

That single, unassuming name was mixed into the congressional archives, and within months, it caused the entire political system to swell up into an existential constitutional crisis.

It proves that accountability starts small, but once the yeast of truth gets to work, you cannot stop the dough from rising.

2. The Negative Yeast
But as Saint Paul warned in Galatians, “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough,” and Jesus explicitly defined the yeast of the Pharisees as hypocrisy.

The Pharisees are the pretenders—the power-hungry impostors who sound deeply religious and righteous on the outside, but inwardly possess zero regard for actual justice or consistency.

In the Senate plenary today, this negative yeast is spreading like a biological hazard, contaminating the minds of the electorate.

-The Pharisaical Directory of the Upper House: You can track the spread of this deceptive, creeping entity by watching how quickly our honorable senator-judges change their moral doctrines depending on who is sitting at the witness stand.
A.
The Outward Pharisaical Proclamation
- Senator Robin Padilla: "Shouldn't the natural reaction of a person with a case be to face it bravely?" (Delivered with intense action-star righteousness to NBI directors).

The Inward Reality (The Yeast of Hypocrisy)
The Spreading Contamination: Robin turns into an underground railroad driver, reportedly smuggling his ally Senator Bato away from arresting officers under the cover of night, while remaining totally blind to the VP dodging her own impeachment hearings.
B.
-
The Outward Pharisaical Proclamation
-Senator Pia Cayetano: "I will roar like a lioness to protect the independence of this court and stop the intimidation of any senator!"

The Inward Reality (The Yeast of Hypocrisy)
The Spreading Contamination: Her righteous vocal cords, which were completely muted and paralyzed for a decade while critics were jailed, are suddenly supercharged by the mere mention of her brother’s unliquidated 2019 SEA Games cauldron.

This is exactly what Jesus was warning his disciples about. The "Yeast of the Pharisees" is a deceptive, creeping entity.

It starts with one politician redefining "Free Speech" to justify grave threats, spreads to another politician claiming a lateral transfer is a "political reward," and eventually infects the entire legislative body until the concept of equal justice is completely unrecognizable.

They use the Constitution as a personal baking apron—only putting it on when they need to protect themselves from getting burned.

The lesson of the Yeast leaves the Filipino people with a very important culinary choice as we head toward the future.

We are the dough. If we allow the yeast of hypocrisy, dynastic self-preservation, and selective amnesia to keep fermenting in our state institutions, the entire nation will end up sour, bloated, and completely unpalatable.

It is time to discard the old, contaminated sourdough starter of traditional politicians and look for leaders who understand that the law applies to the entire batch—not just to the ordinary ingredients.

The Parable Of The Wheat and The Weeds Has Parallelism In The Impeacment of Sara

Today's Gospel reading brings us the timeless Parable of the Wheat and the Weeds (Matthew 13:24-43). It is a story about a master who sowed good seed, only for his enemy to sneak in at night and sow invasive weeds.

In the modern context of the 2026 Philippine political landscape, this parable isn't just a Sunday homily—it is a literal play-by-play analysis of the Senate Impeachment Court.

Let us break down this holy agriculture through the lens of local political theater.

1. The Divine Field and the Sleepy Householders
“The kingdom of heaven may be likened to a man who sowed good seed in his field. While everyone was asleep, his enemy came and sowed weeds all through the wheat…”

The Parallelism:

The "Field" is the Senate Impeachment Court, theoretically cleared and plowed to cultivate pure, unadulterated justice and evidence.

The "Good Seeds" are the actual Articles of Impeachment—bank records, confidential funds, and constitutional arguments.

However, "while everyone was asleep" (or during a trial recess), the enemy snuck in. And what are the weeds? The sudden, baffling introduction of unrelated personal dramas, NBI cybercrime disputes, and ancient athletic anomalies.

The audience went to sleep expecting a constitutional trial and woke up to find the field completely overgrown with a P10-billion sports complex infrastructure debate from seven years ago.

2. The Shocked Servants
“When the crop grew and bore fruit, the weeds appeared as well. The slaves of the householder came to him and said, 'Master, did you not sow good seed in your field? Where have the weeds come from?'”

[ THE SENATE AGRARIAN AUDIT ]

* THE WHEAT (WHAT WE CAME FOR): Evaluating whether the Vice President committed high crimes.

* THE WEEDS (WHAT WE GOT): Senator-Judge Pia Cayetano standing up with roaring passion, protesting that a fellow senator-judge (who happens to be her brother, Alan Peter) is being "intimidated" by the NBI.

Just as the weeds sprouted in the parable, netizens and observers rubbed their eyes in disbelief. They asked: "Wait, isn't this an impeachment court? Why is the 2019 SEA Games cauldron suddenly the centerpiece of the defense?"

The transformation was miraculous. Senator Pia, who had spent the entire Duterte administration practicing the holy vow of silence while the wheat of human rights and judicial fairness was being trampled (most notably during the multi-year incarceration of Leila de Lima), suddenly found the spiritual strength to roar like a lioness.

The voice she lost for a decade was instantly resurrected by the mere mention of the word "unliquidated sports expenses."

3. "Let Them Grow Together" (The Dynamic Duo Strategy)
“His slaves said to him, 'Do you want us to go and pull them up?' He replied, 'No, if you pull up the weeds, you might uproot the wheat along with them. Let them grow together until harvest...'”

[ PARABLE CROSS-SECTION ]

* THE HOUSEHOLDER'S WISDOM: Don't pull the weeds yet, or you'll ruin the whole crop.

* THE SENIOR CAYETANO LOGIC: "Don't investigate the weeds (the P10-B Clark City project) right now, because my brother is one of only two minority lawyers!

If you make him answer graft questions, he won't have time to study the wheat of the impeachment trial!"

The Senate leadership is currently operating on this exact biblical principle. When the public screams, "Can we please pull up these distracting family defense weeds and focus on the actual trial evidence?" the political masters reply: "No, let them grow together."

If you try to separate the personal family obligations from the senatorial obligations in the Philippine Congress, the entire institution might collapse.

The political landscape requires the wheat of national law and the weeds of familial self-preservation to intertwine so tightly that you literally cannot tell where public service ends and sibling defense begins.

The Gospel concludes with a warning: at harvest time, the harvesters will collect the weeds, tie them in bundles, and cast them into the fire.

In the context of the 2026 political landscape, the "harvest time" is the next midterm election, and the "harvesters" are the Filipino netizens and voters.

While Senator-Judges try to convince the country that their sudden bursts of vocal courage are about "protecting the independence of the Senate," the public is already gathering the receipts, bundling the contradictions, and preparing a very warm reception at the ballot box.

The Reflection for the Day:

If you are going to stand up against "intimidation," make sure you do it for the whole field—not just when the lawnmower is heading straight for your own family's backyard cauldron. Amen

Parable of The Sower Vis a Vis VP Sara's Impeachment

It is Sunday, and tomorrow will be the fourth day of VP Sara's impeachment.

Let's call this platform the Plenary Hall of Parables, where today’s reading from the Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time brings us Matthew 13:1-23.

Jesus sat in a boat to address the masses about agriculture, but if he were looking at the Senate Impeachment Court of Vice President Sara Duterte, he would realize that the Parable of the Sower is the perfect topic to discuss, especially since the internet readers are here ... they will mirror the parable and its parallelism with the current impeachment landscape.

Let’s take a look at how the Four Soils perfectly explain the absolute circus of the impeachment trial.

1. The Seed on the Path: The DDS Echo Chamber and The Google Scholars

In the gospel, the seed falls on the hardened path, and the birds immediately swoop down to eat it because there is zero understanding.

-The Trial Parallel: This is the ultimate symbol of the DDS Echo Chamber and Senator Robin Padilla’s search history.

-The Example: When the prosecution presents actual constitutional laws or the Supreme Court rules on evidence admissibility, it lands on the hardened path of the internet. Before the logic can even sink in, the "birds"—in the form of hyper-partisan vloggers and TikTok comment sections—swoop in to devour it. They immediately twist it into "Pwede na magprint ng sariling pera!" or "Fake news ang video!" The information is completely consumed by brainrot before a single seed of understanding can sprout.

2. The Rocky Ground: The Alan Peter & Pia Cayetano Neutrality Rebrand

The rocky ground represents those who receive the word with immediate joy and enthusiasm, but because they have no deep roots, they instantly wither the second the sun beats down and trouble arises.

-The Trial Parallel: This is the Cayetano Brand of Dramatic Impartiality.

-The Example: On Day One, Alan Peter enthusiastically stood up to declare his deep, unyielding respect for the Constitution, proudly rejecting a nomination no one gave him. Pia Cayetano constantly preaches about "fairness" and procedural integrity. They sound like the perfect, fertile ground for justice! But the moment the "heat" of Senator Risa Hontiveros's evidence-driven cross-examination beats down on the courtroom, their deep roots of neutrality are revealed to be non-existent. The performance withers instantly, transforming them back into protective airbags for the defense.

3. The Thorn-Choked Soil: The 32 Million Mandate and the "Mary Grace Piattos" Receipts

The seed that falls among thorns grows, but it is completely choked out by worldly anxieties, the deceitfulness of wealth, and the lures of power.

-The Trial Parallel: This is the Defense Team's Strategy and the missing Confidential Funds.

-The Example: The prosecution tries to plant seeds of financial accountability. They ask about ₱125 million spent in 11 days. But these seeds are instantly choked out by a thick, thorny hedge of distractions: "But what about the 32 million voters who love her?!" and "This is just political persecution!" The deceitfulness of wealth is literally written on the liquidation receipts signed by "Mary Grace Piattos." The truth about public funds is completely strangled by the defense’s anxiety over losing its grip on political power.

4. The Rich Soil: The Composed Prosecution and Alert Citizens

Finally, the seed that falls on rich soil hears the word, truly understands it, retains its common sense, and yields a massive harvest of truth.

-The Trial Parallel: This is Representative Gerville Luistro’s Evidence Panel and the Thinking Public.

-The Example: When Rep. Luistro stands up and calmly states, "Evidence, hindi tsismis," and points out that if a barangay treasurer must account for five hundred pesos, a Vice President must account for millions—that is seed hitting rich soil. For the millions of Filipinos watching at home who haven't let partisan algorithms rot their brains, this seed yields a hundredfold clarity. They see the receipts, they remember the live video threats, and they refuse to be gaslighted. They understand that public office is a public trust, and no amount of theatrical amnesia can erase the dirty facts.

As the sower continues to scatter the trial transcripts across the nation, let us pray that our minds resemble the rich soil—because if we let the thorns of political loyalty choke our common sense, we’ll end up believing that photocopied passports can get us a flight to Japan. He who has ears to hear, let him hear the livestre

The Parale of ther New Wine and The Old Wineskin

To understand the Parable of the New Wine and the Old Wineskins, first we have to define some terms and put them into context.

A wineskin in Jesus' time was a traditional, flask-like bag made of animal leather (usually goatskin or sheepskin) used to store, transport, and dispense wine.

Because leather is flexible, wineskins expand to safely contain the natural fermentation and carbonation of the wine, whereas rigid containers might burst.

The parable of the New Wine and the Old Wineskin is a Biblical metaphor most famously known from the teachings told by Jesus in the New Testament (e.g., Matthew 9:17). Here's the explanation:

When children stop listening to their parents because they feel they already "know enough," they treat themselves like old wineskins—rigid, closed, and set in their ways.

They try to fit the new wine of life's unpredictable challenges; they ignore their parents' teachings ... expanding responsibilities, and mature wisdom into their limited, brittle perspective.

Because their minds refuse to stretch or remain flexible, they eventually "burst" when hit by the harsh pressures of reality, proving that their self-proclaimed maturity was just a fragile shell.

-New Wine in New Wineskins: New wine continues to ferment and expand. It must be poured into fresh, pliable, and elastic new wineskins that can stretch to accommodate the pressure.

-The Problem with Old Wineskins: Old leather wineskins become brittle and lose their elasticity. If new wine is poured into them, the expansion will cause the old, inflexible skin to burst, ruining both the container and the wine.

Did you follow? Please take note of the parallelism as we compare the parable as we fast-break our time machine to the latest political scenarios in the Philippines hitting the headlines.

To see this parable play out in real-time (meaning now), we don't need to visit a vineyard. We just need to look at the beautifully chaotic landscape of Philippine politics, where politicians constantly try to force fresh, explosive historical shifts into the ancient, dried-out leather of traditional political systems.

1. The Impeachment Trial of VP Sara Duterte
The House of Representatives prosecution panel is finalized, and the historic impeachment trial of Vice President Sara Duterte is set to begin.

-The Parallel: Think of the UniTeam alliance—the massive political machinery that dominated the 2022 elections—as the Old Wineskin.

It was stitched together using traditional political convenience, old family names, and patronage. But then came the "New Wine": dynamic geopolitical shifts, intense audits of confidential funds, and a sudden, fierce demand for accountability.

-The Explosion: What happens when you try to force the explosive, fermenting realities of 2026 political warfare into a fragile 2022 "unity" container? Pop.

The wineskin has completely shattered. The residual pressure has caused literal political tremors, proving that you cannot contain a massive structural feud inside an outdated OLD Wineskin(the superficial contract of convenience).

Both the alliance and the political peace have completely leaked out onto the floor.

2. The Plunder Case vs. Sen. Rodante Marcoleta
The Ombudsman recently filed a plunder complaint against Senator Rodante Marcoleta, causing waves across the legislative halls.

-The Parallel: For decades, the Old Wineskin of Philippine governance has been the unspoken code of “Protect your own.”

Traditional politicians are used to a rigid, comfortable framework where a high-ranking position or a powerful alliance acts as a magical shield against legal consequences.

-The Conflict: Enter the New Wine: a growing, tech-savvy public demand for transparency, and independent legal institutions actually pressing charges.

The old framework is stiff and unyielding, stubbornly shouting, "But we have political immunity and powerful backers!" Meanwhile, the modern demand for accountability is expanding rapidly.

If the legal system tries to twist itself back into the old ways to protect political allies, the entire institutional credibility of the government will crack under the pressure.

3. INC hindi kami tutol sa pagpatupad ng batas ... pero tutol kami sa pagbaluktot ng batas.

-The Parallel - When the Iglesia ni Cristo (INC) claims they do not oppose enforcing the law but only object to its "distortion"—while simultaneously shielding powerful political allies like the Dutertes from accountability—they are trying to force a corrupt political agenda into the old wineskin of a holy, unyielding legal doctrine.

They invoke the pure, universal concept of absolute justice (the new wine) but try to contain it within a rigid, hypocritical framework that conveniently bends whenever their favored politicians face investigation.

-The Warning - Just as the parable warns, this explosive combination collapses under its own weight because you cannot mix the life-giving demand for true transparency with an obsolete system of political patronage designed to cover up corruption.

By attempting to mask blatant double standards with righteous rhetoric, the INC's narrative completely "bursts," leaking away their institutional credibility and revealing that the "wineskin" they are actually protecting is a shield for the powerful, not the rule of law.

-The Reflection: The Philippines is a country overflowing with dynamic "New Wine"—brilliant youth, progressive ideas, and an appetite for true change. But as long as we keep electing the same traditional dynasties and relying on ancient political machinery, we are just pouring premium vintage into rotten leather.

Until we build New Wineskins—true electoral reforms, an end to bloc voting, and actual enforcement of anti-dynasty laws—we will just keep cleaning up the same old sticky, expensive mess every election cycle.

The Catholic Church - In The Middle of All This Mess

The universe has just witnessed a moment of absolute comedic genius.

Former Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque—speaking from a highly classified, subterranean coordinates known only to himself, his mobile data provider, and presumably the angels—looked out at a Tuesday morning traffic jam on EDSA and hollered across space and time: “Catholic Church, where are you?!”

It is an enchanting question. It implies that the largest spiritual institution in the archipelago, with its 80 million members, massive stone cathedrals on every street corner, and centuries-old parish networks, has somehow misplaced itself.

Did it fall behind the couch? Is it stuck in the EDSA Ortigas split?

The response from the Catholic faithful has arrived, and it is a masterclass in polite, devastating reality.

The Catholic Church’s official reply is beautifully simple: We have always been exactly where we’re supposed to be.

For decades, while various political actors were busy switching parties, rewriting their resumes, or perfecting TikTok dances, the Church has been on a rather monotonous loop.

Election after election, century after century, bishops, priests, and lay leaders have consistently repeated the exact same, seemingly boring advice:

"Do not sell your votes. Do not be blinded by popularity. Choose leaders who are morally upright, honest, competent, and committed to the common good. Do not support candidates known for corruption, dishonesty, or those carrying serious legal baggage."

It is a steady, unwavering message. The Church didn't suddenly wake up this Tuesday morning and discover that corruption is a sin.

They didn’t wait for a 75 million pesos "private donation" controversy to realize that public office is a public trust. They’ve had this on the syllabus since the year 1521.

The absolute irony of Harry’s question is that it ignores a fundamental law of physics: To hear a message, you actually have to stop talking long enough to listen.

When the Church repeatedly warned the nation against voting for candidates with active plunder cases, history of anomalies, or unexplained wealth, what did the political ecosystem do?

They turned up the volume on the campaign jingles, handed out the crisp bills, and told the voters that "good morals" are a luxury we can't afford in real politics.

And now, when the inevitable harvest arrives—when a politician proudly brags about taking millions in cash and the Ombudsman comes knocking with a non-bailable arrest warrant—the very people who ignored the warnings turn around and gasp: "My goodness! Where was the Church to protect us from the consequences of our own choices?!"

Rather than asking, "Where is the Catholic Church?" perhaps Harry and his fellow rally-planners should ask a few questions that are a bit more introspective:

Did we listen when the Church spoke about human dignity and the rule of law?

Did we heed the moral guidance when we were told that loyalty to truth must always prevail over loyalty to personalities?

Did we vote according to conscience, or did we treat our sample ballots like a transaction sheet?

The Church is right where it has always been: offering prayers, running hospitals, feeding the poor, and quietly reminding everyone that you reap exactly what you sow.

They don't need to rent a stage at the People Power Monument to prove they exist.

So as we pray for the country, let us also pray for Harry. Not just for his spiritual enlightenment, but also that he finally finds his way out of hiding.

Because it is incredibly difficult to hear the Church’s answer when he is shouting from an undisclosed location.

The Sunday's Sermon Moved Me

Moving sermons and homilies affect me

Priests study homiletics to bridge sacred scripture with everyday reality. By utilizing vivid imagery, rhythm, and storytelling, they craft sermons that bypass my intellect to strike directly at my emotions and conscience.

When I step away from the church, a natural gap forms between my CONSCIOUS and the UNCONSCIOUS moral programming I grew up with.

Moving sermons force me to confront this disconnect, which can cause intense emotional turmoil, questioning, and nighttime anxiety.

That's what happened at today's mass. The priest only told us TO COUNT OUR BLESSINGS and then proceeded to four individual questions, which he challenged the children in a standing room only crowd of Sunday worshippers.

He started with "Attention, members of Generation Z and the newly minting Alpha workforce! "

"It is time to pause the 15-second vertical video feeds. Unplug your glowing vaporizers and step away from the late-night club dancefloors for an urgent, comprehensive reality check."

An existential review of today’s youth reveals an absolute, logic-defying masterclass in self-sabotage. It seems the modern young adult has looked at a beautifully stable, fully blessed life and thought, "Nice, but can we make it chaotic and stressful?"

Let’s break down the four most spectacular ways today's youth are turning their blessings into a pile of aesthetic rubble.

1. The priest started: "Are you not aware that your FAMILY is the envy of any FRACTURED and FRAGMENTED household? Of BROKEN HOMES?"

There is an old saying that a peaceful home is a happy home. Apparently, today's youth missed that memo.

They have taken beautiful, cohesive families and treated them like contestants on a reality TV survival show, planting enmities and causing friction for reasons that can only be described as "clout-adjacent."

[ THE FRACTURED HOME EQUATION ]

* THE BLESSING: A supportive, unified household that is the absolute envy of any fractured and fragmented family in the world.

* THE YOUTH'S: "Yes, but my parents didn't validate my opinion today, so I am going to start a civil war in the family group chat."

The question is .... Why break a household that works? Why do you want to make the members of your family fight? Why are you so into intrigues? When you actively destroy the familial safety net, you aren't being foolish; you are just alienating the only people who will answer your phone call at 3:00 AM.

2. The priest lobbed the next question: "Are you unaware that your HOUSE is a fantasy of your neighbors or any VAGRANTS and the HOMELESS?"

The housing market is a global crisis, and vagrants and the homeless are wishing upon stars just to have a solid roof over their heads.

Enter the modern youth, who looks at a fully paid, structurally sound family home and sees an inconvenient obstacle between them and immediate cash.

-The Modern Financial Blueprint: Step 1: Force the family to sell or rent out the house. Step 2: Acquire the lump-sum cash. Step 3: Error 404: Housing Not Found.

What's with this madness? Dahil kasilangan mo lang ang pera, ibenta mo na ang bahay na ibinigay lang sa iyo?

Where exactly are you planning to live, dahil pinarentahan or ienenta mo ang bahay? Or ayaw mong i-maintain at linisin ito? Are you planning to build a fortress out of cardboard boxes in the club parking lot?

Selling the permanent roof over your head to finance a temporary lifestyle is a financial strategy that would make a bankruptcy lawyer weep.

3. The priest moved on to the next question. "Are you unaware that your being in pink of HEALTH is on the wishlist of every SICK and INFIRMED? "Yung mga nasa hospital want a new lease of life… tapos ikaw, may plan ka pa na ibenta ang kidney or mata mo?

To the sick and the infirm lying in hospital beds, basic, roaring health is the ultimate, unattainable fantasy.

To the modern youth, health is just an annoying video game stat bar that needs to be drained as quickly as possible.

-The Divine Wishlist - "Please let me wake up without pain and have a clear, functional mind."

-The Nightlife Routine - "Let's combine zero sleep, smoking, heavy liquor, experimental vape flavors, and continuous nightlife."

Indulging in vices until you are mentally abnormal isn’t a personality trait. Your Lungs, liver, and your sleep cycle are running a joint protest, and they are about to file for total institutional bankruptcy.

4. Then he opened the last remaining bomb of a question."And most of all, have you realized that your WORK is the jealousy of the JOBLESS and the UNEMPLOYED ... and those who were LAID OFF?

So why the immediate resignation just because you have a tiff with the manager? Why the constant absenteeism and the habitual truancy? Hingi ka lang ng hingi ng pera ... is that what you want? O matutulog ka na lang nang buong mag-araw? Kahit sinong family member niyan talagang magreklamo at aayaw sa iyo!

In an economy riddled with layoffs, restructuring, and millions of unemployed citizens fighting for a single entry-level vacancy, having a steady job is a massive luxury.

Yet, today's youth have turned job resignation into a hobby. They will invent a magnificent, complex web of rationalizations—citing "I want career growth" or "the job is not for me"—just to avoid showing up on Monday.

Let's ask a very sober, lowkey question: Do you honestly believe your parents are going to continue supporting this lifestyle of pure negativity and aesthetic unemployment? The bank of Mom and Dad is experiencing high inflation, and your credit score there is rapidly approaching zero.

-The Ultimate Inventory Checklist: Before you send your next "I'm entering my villain era" text ... take out a piece of paper and count your blessings.

Your Family: A shield against the world—stop treating them like the opposition.

Your House: A sanctuary—stop trying to turn it into a rental listing or for sale alerts.

Your Health: A masterpiece of biology—stop treating it like a garbage disposal.

Your Work: A financial lifeline—stop throwing it away for internet points.

The world does not owe you a continuous stream of entertainment, and your parents are not an endless municipal fund designed to sponsor your nightlife and your existential crises.

Be grateful for what you have. Look at the reality of the world around you, notice how incredibly blessed you are to have a home, a job, a family, and a healthy body, and thank God you have a foundation to stand on.

It is time to drop the ENTITLEMENT, put down the luggage of manufactured drama, and start protecting the blessings you were given before the universe decides to pass them to someone who will actually appreciate them.

The priest ended his sermon with: "Be GRATEFUL with what you have ... and thank God you were BLESSED!

The Gospel Of Today

The latest quarterly reports from the Vineyard of the Lord have just dropped, and the executive summary is a total administrative paradox.

According to the supreme celestial data, the harvest is officially plentiful.

Human beings in 2026—despite being entirely overwhelmed by algorithmic TikTok feeds, rising inflation, the endless drama of the Senate quorum, and the existential dread of finding a parking slot at the mall—are still actively searching for a fuller meaning to life.

The consumer demand for salvation, justice, and eternal truth is at an all-time high. The market is ripe. The seeds are bursting through the soil.

The problem? The Human Resources department is experiencing an absolute ghost town.

As the Gospel perfectly puts it: “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.”

If the Church were to post this divine recruitment call on LinkedIn today, the corporate disconnect would be immediately hilarious.

[ JOB OPENING: LABORER OF THE KINGDOM ]

 * The Market: Millions of confused souls yearning for infinite truth and freedom.

* The Compensation: Eternal life, unparalleled peace of mind, and a crown that doesn't depend on foreign ancestry or being a "halfie".

* The Catch: You must walk into the messy field of the world, deal with high-speed human chaos, and look at people through the eyes of Jesus.

* Current Status: 0 Applicants. (Everyone clicked "Save for Later" and went back to Instagram).

We live in a world where everyone wants to be an "influencer," a "consultant," or a "strategist."

If you ask a modern professional to design a 5-year corporate pastoral plan with color-coded PowerPoint slides, they will do it in an hour.

But if you ask them to pick up a sickle, get their shoes dirty in the mud of human brokenness, and actually harvest the good grain? Suddenly, everyone's schedule is completely full.

The Gospel delivers a direct, beautifully cynical blow to our obsession with bureaucracy. It explicitly states that we do not need too many theoretical ideas about pastoral plans.

This is bad news for the corporate-minded Catholics who love holding endless committee meetings to discuss how to save the world.

[ THE COMMITTEE MEETING LOG ]

* Item A: Discussing the structural font size of the church newsletter. (3 hours)

* Item B: Debating the aesthetics of the altar flowers. (2 hours)

* Item C: Actually going out to visit the sick and comfort the lonely. (Deferred to next quarter due to lack of quorum).

We have turned the Kingdom into a management seminar. We think we can solve the labor shortage by creating a new spreadsheet or a trending hashtag.

But the Executive Director of the Universe is reminding us that the field isn't harvested by paperwork; it’s harvested by people who actually show up for the shift.

The modern psyche thinks that if a project is failing, you need to hire a marketing agency. The Gospel, however, flips the corporate ladder upside down:

The Modern Corporate SolvedThe Divine Mandate
"Let's launch a massive PR campaign, create a viral video, and hire an agency to boost our recruitment metrics.""Priority must be given to your relationship with the Lord and cultivating your dialogue with him."
"Let's analyze the demographics of the field using advanced data analytics.""Pray to the Lord of the harvest. Let Him do the vetting and the sending."

-The Structural Reality Check: You cannot distinguish the "good grain" from the weeds if you are looking at the world through the lens of political bias, cancel culture, or social climbing. To see the harvest properly, you have to use the "Eyes of Jesus"—an optical setting that requires a constant, uninterrupted connection to the source via prayer.

What can we actually learn from today's Gospel? It is a satirical reminder that humanity is starving for substance, but the people who are supposed to be feeding it are too busy managing the kitchen’s inventory.

We are so overwhelmed by "doing things for God" that we forget to spend thirty seconds "talking to God."

The Gospel is telling us that if we want to change the world, we need to stop acting like high-level consultants who are too important to work in the field.

The next time you look at the news and feel anxious about the chaos of the world, do not draft a new philosophical theory on how to fix society.

Just drop to your knees, check in with the Chief Executive Officer upstairs, and ask Him for your marching orders.

Because the harvest is waiting, the sun is setting, and the field doesn't care about your pastoral plan—it just needs a worker who knows how to listen.

The Kingdom of God doesn't need more commentators in the bleachers; it needs laborers in the field.

If you’re waiting for a sign to start being a better person, this is your official onboarding memo.

Was This A Divine Intervention?

This is Divine Intervention ... plain and simple.  A higher power directly and purposely influenced the storyline in Rodrigo Roa Duterte's saga in Hague Netherlands.

For some strange reason, the legal head honcho in the ex-president's legal defense was rushed to the hospital, and as of press time, Salvador Medialdea is definitely out and will soon come back to the Philippines.

Harry Roque could not also serve as Digong's legal guru. According to VP Inday his stay in the Netherlands is yet to be established ... and they don't want any complications.

So the final decision was to employ an all-foreign defense team to get Digong out of the woods.

What a clever twist in the plot ... if one looked closely ... the script is being revised and webbed by a Supreme Power - all programmed to use relatable characters aimed to teach a moral and spiritual lesson after the story is told.

It is likened to parables in the Bible ... they are powerful teaching tools that stimulate us to think, arouse strong feelings, and stir emotions, typically the positive ones ... (for instance the parable of the prodigal son ... the mustard seed ... or The Good Samaritan.)

Imagine a biased man who loathed and despised anything alien or White. And then with the twist of circumstances... he was left alone ... and the only people who could save him from his legal troubles were the very same people he abhors.

No man ... is an island ...no man stands alone. Is this the lesson the heavens want us to learn from Digong's journey?

The higher power has finally weaved the ending of the story - despite Digong's bias toward anything unfamiliar and foreign (except China perhaps)... Somebody up there is rubbing the situation to his face.  And that's including us ... that we pay more attention and take notice.

All Filipino lawyers were removed from the battlefield (that was the plan) ... and the soldiers he has been rubbing elbows with through the years like Medialdia and Roque with a stroke of His wand suddenly find themselves "inutil" and futile.  Now he has to be contented with whatever help he can get from the people he has long frowned upon.

You see the Supreme Power can't just sit down looking at how the story unfolds.  He wants to be a part of the story himself. He wants to intervene ... and get involved ... to change the story perhaps ... or to leave a lasting lesson everyone should learn from.

Footprints

Footprints In The Sand - What It Means

What is the parable of footprints in the sand?

It tells us the story of a set of footprints in the sand ... it started with two ... and then later... it became one. And why is that?

At times of trials and tribulations ... of hopelessness and despair ... when everything seemed abysmal and pointless ... you will see only one footprint.  That was the time God was carrying you ... so those footprints you see are HIS.  So don't you ever think that God has abandoned you? You were not ALONE for crying out loud. God was with you the whole time.

Many people question why God allows us to suffer, and they don't feel His presence in their difficult and trying times. Many of them try to search for answers "Natutulog ba ang Diyos ... was a common complaint.   Does He intend to play deaf to what we implore or plead ... and has He turned blind to what we beseech for?

Some had already met dead-ends at their prayer deadlines ... and they felt their petitions and supplications seemed futile and inutile. When the storm rages ... their faith fails ... and their patience nose dives to the lowest depths.

Here's the good news! The one set of footprints in the sand, instead of two meant ... that God had not raised the white flag of defeat to you and your situation. The fact of the matter was ... He was hand-carrying you full-time and has not deserted and forsaken you.

So when the going gets tough ... God has kept everything going in your direction.  Pray more ... have more faith ... and be patient because the end of your problem will happen in God's clockwork... or in God's perfect time.

God's perfect timing does two things: It grows our faith as we are forced to wait and trust in God ... and it makes certain that He, and He alone gets the glory and praise for pulling us through.

"My times are in Your hands ..." Psalm 31:15. At the right time, God will provide your need.
