Ang daming poging singkit ang naglipana sa showbiz ngayon. Nandiyan sina Donny Pangilinan, Jeremiah Lisbo. Mccoy de Leon, Gil Cuerva, David Licauco, Michael Sager, Manolo Pedrosa, Radson Flores, Nikki Co, Royce Cabrera, Kimson Tan, Edgar Alan Guzman, Dustin Yu. Matthew Uy, Rodjun Cruz etc.

However ... it look like may dalawang klase ng singkit according sa malabigang content creators sa social media.

Pag ang singkit daw ay mestizo ... they call them "CHINITO".  Pero kung ang singkit ay kayumangging kaligatan and tawag nila ay "PRINITO." Parang may pagka-sarcastic. Parang negative ang dating.

May point naman daw.  Nagra-rhyme kasi eh. sabat ng isa. Ganun?

But for us, we believe maputi man o maitim pareho lang ... SILA AY CHINITO! Pinoy with monolids or Asian eyes.

FB Critics ... Too Unforgiving

The fact that Emilio Daez is 1 Million richer was not enough to contain some FB commenters that "Rainbow Rumble" was living proof that we have an educational crisis right now.

When Host Luis Manzano asked the group : "Ano ang palayaw ng bayaning si Jose Rizal?"

Emilio answered Miong and Grae answered Joe Joe. Both of them were just guessing and I know they were joking and were half-hearted when they gave their answers. But that doesn't mean that their selective memory loss is tantamount to a pressing educational crisis.

I studied the life of Rizal when we were in first-year college ... I remembered it was Pepe but my brain was almost bleeding ... or was it hemorrhaging before I recall it.

What happens now if I ask "Why is Pluto not considered a planet?" That doesn't mean that your inability to answer the question ... means there is an existing educational vacuum in science that needs Dep Ed to overhaul and reexamine its present academic structure.

In fairness to Emilio and Grae they may not have answered that no-sweat question ... think about it ... they have responded to harder questions in the same game show that you didn't know ... including their harsh critics who exaggeratedly concluded an urgent educational cataclysm needing emergency government intervention.

What was astonishing ... was when Luis asked the audience ... they readily answered Pepe (overly genius bunch huh) making the contestant look stupid.

I was flabbergasted to see that 100% of the studio audience knew Rizal by heart ... as they unabashedly chorused Pepe in unison ... and I found it unbelievable seeing the camera pan on their faces smiling as if saying: "Ako hindi man ako artista pero alam ko ang sagot.".

Emilio may have won 1 million pesos ... but the embarrassment he and Grae experienced from the show was not worth it. They were poked fun at... and the host even dropped to the floor laughing and said "Who is the author of El Filibusterismo ... Miong Miong. Sino ang author ng Noli Me Tangeri - Joe Joe) And everyone has a good laugh.

I know Luis means well, and he did not intend to ridicule anybody. He was doing it to go with the jolly Bardagulan ng show. And maybe the ratings.

Emilio was a good sport though being put in that position ... but Grae was serious maybe questioning himself "Nag-guest ba kami dito sa show para hiyain?"

Marites Is Now Going International

BBC has picked up the news about Carlos Yulo's bad blood with his mother. Their headline says: Double Gold medalist feud with mum threatens to eclipse historic win.

Who can blame the BBC for joining the bandwagon? For 5 days after the win ... social media focused more on the family feud drowning the celebrated twin gold victory in France.

The harm has been done. The victory could have been sweeter had colder heads intervened and doused water into the embers of controversy. After she said ... he said exchange of verbal jabs ... what good did it do when you wash your dirty linens in public ... and the public wanting to meddle so they can share the limelight?

Time flies. I have to admit ... I was watching Going Bulilit before because of child star Bugoy Carino. Before his self-proclaimed retirement (when he severed connection with showbiz) he was a member of Hashtags ... but the role was short-lived because he opted to concentrate more on the most challenging role he ever played ... being a Batang Ama at age 15.

In the resurrected version of Going Bulilit on the Kapamilya Channel which will open on July 1, 2024 ... Bugoy will pass the baton to his daughter Scarlet. Make your papa proud ... I am sure she will fit the shoes of the talented Bugoy.

It's Showtime Is Back To Channel 2

This comes as a big surprise. There was no warning ... and there was no fanfare. At tinago pa nila sa media ha ... hindi umubra ang pagka-Maritess ni Cristy Fermin. Malaking balita ... naitago sa high priestess ng tsismis? 

Muntik na akong nahulog sa sofa at ginulantang ang aming FUN-anghalian  ng biglang nag-BULAGA sa ALL TV ni Manny Villar ang  Its Showtime. My friend was crying; the show has risen from the grave and is now back on Channel 2 ... where it belongs.

Do You Agree

Hindi nabahala ang GMA sa pagkasama ng ALL TV sa  long list ng mga istasyon showing  Its Showtime. Kasama na diyan ang A2Z, Kapamilya Channel. Jeepney TV atbp.

The reality is kahit sampong istasyon pa ang kasama ... sa GMA pa rin manood ang mga tao. May bandwagon mentality kasi ang mga Pinoy. Kung saan ang pinaka-popular ... doon sila.

Why all the secrecy? Posts about an ALL TV and ABS CBN tie-up have been around ... and nobody has any clue that it has to be today. Do the Villars subscribe to the tenets of the promotion of products, hype, advertising, and publicity?

Or have they accepted the fact that whatever they do ... they will play second fiddle to GMA7. And whether ABS CBN is back to its home is inconsequential - ALL TV to the ABS CBN fans has completely alienated them.

Look who's talking! I mean the people criticizing Showtime's hosts ... at ang mga panlalait nito sa kanilang mga guests.

Matumal ba ang trabaho at walang masyadong ganap kaya makisakay muna sila sa kabayo? Ang problema ... masyado lang silang banal at kapitapitagan. Galit sila sa mga pangwalanghiya at mga pangbu-bully ng kabayo ... pero hinihiya nila ngayon at binu-bully ang kabayo. So ano ang pagkaiba ng dalawa?

Bakit marami sa mga bashers ang nakikita at pinupuna ang pagkamali ng iba ... pero ang linis linis ang tingin sa sarili? 

Sinubukan ba nilang balikan ang mga comments nila ... hindi ba panlalait din yon? Mas matindi pa nga ... Pinalitan ba naman ang madlang people ng madlang pulpol. Ang Showtime ... to Shametime. 

If what he said is true na gagawa siya ng midnight show, did they expect madlang pulpol to patronize their product now that they started alienating them? Totoo nga ang kasabihan ... ang magnanakaw galit sa kapwa magnanakaw.

At ang mga nanlalait ... galit sa kapwa manlalait. Irony of all ironies. Galit sila sa mga naninira ... pero gawain rin pala nila.  At mas matindi pa.

Its Showtime

The latest Showtime controversy is a continuing saga ... thanks to the movie personality's out-of-control drive to participate in the discussion ... all with good intentions ... but in the end all suffered minor burns for not staying on the sidelines.

First, let us examine the words of the combatants and select the ones who endangered themselves and opted to unzip their mouths and manage to place themselves in the eye of the storm. Whatever their reasons are ... we couldn't fault them for writing or saying what they want to say.

1. The first person was Nikko Natividad - a former Hashtag and an actor in ABS CBN Batang Quiapo. 

2. Nicco Loco - Canadian Italian actor, host and TV presenter

I have nothing but admiration for the two for standing up and making their views heard. It takes courage and "balls" to speak what is in your mind and pour your heart out. They have points that everybody needs to know and learn from.

To make this commentary balance the hosts of Showtime did everything they could to prevent the situation from escalating. It is their responsibility to call out behaviors and police their ranks. A joke may not be the right way to call out somebody ... the intention may not be to shame the guest ... but to remind them of their limits and their excesses.

It is how you say things that matter though ... but knowing Showtime's propensity for comedy bar's type of slapstick and satire ... if you are a person who is easily offended ... the best remedy is to avoid being a part of it ... regardless of how much you need the money.

Discretion is a better part of valor -meaning if you hate embarrassing yourself or experiencing unpleasant situations... the most sensible thing to do is to stay away from it.

Its Showtime Controversy

The brouhaha created when one searchee tried to give a peck to the girl in one of Its Showtime segments Exspecially For You is fast reaching its crescendo.  The reaction of the netizens is now on a fever pitch ... and as everybody joins the melee it looks like the embers of the controversy will not die down any time soon. Why the continuing saga?

One thing is the obviously coordinated attack on Its Showtime last Wednesday when netizens noticed similar posts made by various content creators and online users hiding under a cloak of anonymity. Parehong content at nilalaman authored by different scheming personalities.

There were also fans asking for MRTCB to flex its muscles ... to add luster to the ever-growing day-to-day flames that have already scorched, incinerated, and reduced our sense of decency and goodness to ashes.

Some are trying to goad Lala Sotto to intervene ... but this is a double-edged sword ... because once she does it it will open again more cans of worms ... and people will think ... she is still carrying the vendetta in favor of ET - who witnessed ratings that are in a nosedive lately.

There were also movie personalities who contributed their two cents worth on the matter ... but instead of helping douse the firestorm ... they also got their own share of sears and conflagration when netizens came in grooves to attack them in print.

There were also efforts made by supporters to call out these movie personalities asking for producers to cancel their participation in projects they were currently doing.

The reactions were far from lethal and career-threatening but the choice of words was venomous, below the belt, and toxic.  If you are not used to controversy ... you can die down any minute.  Everybody seemed in a poke-fun mood ... unmindful of the pain they inflicted.

My friend can't help but ask himself: |Where has all the goodness in every Filipino gone?

Ann Curtias Brand of Humor

Ann Curtis is a good sport. She is optimistic about sharing self-deprecating stories with friends and fans and is willing to admit flaws and relive their stories just for fun. She is willing to downplay herself so others can have a hearty laugh. 

She doesn't mind the little blemishes and imperfections she shows whenever she hosts It's Showtime ... and there has never been a day when cohosts and the audience throw in loud guffaws because she misread her cues and mispronounced deep-sounding Tagalog words that have been her Achilles heel as far as hosting is concerned.. She is also willing to go to the extent of making up stories .... just to make them laugh.

Lately, the heat indices have broken records, in Iba Zambales, it has reached the acme of any heat index meters ... reaching as far as 53 degrees Celsius. 

Ann cracked a joke telling her story about people nitpicking on her singing so she said" Sa mga NANLAIT sa boses ko tuwing kumakanta ako ... AT BAKA DAW UMULAN ... ngayon magdusa kayo sa INIT. I won't sing guys ..."

Kahit pilitin ka pa Ann? Kahit magkaroon ng drive campaigns sa buong Pilipinas requesting you to sing ... para humupa man lang ang init ... na para  nang nasa pugon na ang Pinas?

Anne Curtis - Bulol

 

Ann Curtis is a female version of Ryan Bang. They are both hosts of It's Showtime and it is ironic that both enjoy the best of both worlds (passing the stringent standards of ABS CBN (in hosting) and enjoying the support and love of their fans) 

Despite their inability to talk straight characterized by long pauses ... stuttering and stammering ... (bumbling and stumbling) ... by virtue of their "bulol" one-liners ... netizens are always on the look-out as they elbow each other ... who can dish out the best entertainment meme of the day as they meet dead-ends at deadlines.  

Both are making a name for themselves by making bulol-type hosting ... a sure-fire ingredient to make a balanced battery of hosts. So if Eat Bulaga wonders what makes It's Showtime tick ... they need one host with a speech defect - one that is almost eager to share her idea - but the words get stuck, frozen and glued ... and the idea gets lost in translation. 

When Ann wrote in her account: "Luh. Kumilimlim dito sa QC" ... that was met with friendly and respectful sneers and jeers.  "Ate Ann ... bakit maski sa pagtype bulol ka?"

Like a true trooper ... Ann smiled at the netizen's reaction and dismissed it like a pro.

Can we classify Ann's bungling and bobbling as a SLIP of the tongue or pen?

I don't think so.  From the get-go Ann admits it is hard for her to pronounce or spell Tagalog tongue-twisters (especially yong mga malalim na)... but let her speak in English and she can articulate her thoughts well.  English is her first language ... and Tagalog ... her second. 

Just like Ryan Bang (who is Korean first) ... maintiendihan natin kung ano ang mga gusto nilang sabihin ... hindi man perfect Tagalog ... pero pwede-pasar na. Sila yong mga bulol na cute ... stammering and stuttering ... pero lovable naman.

Pinocchio In Our Midst

 I don't intend to become an entertainment news reporter ... it is just that I was amused with what is going on with our noontime shows. The daily "tug-of-war" in the ratings is making the show's host teetering on the precipice - where they issue potentially perilous statements or place them in an uncertain and embarrassing state.

A case in point is Joey de Leon's over-the-top comments with too cringey "kayabangan" undertones when he said: Umabot lang ang Its Showtime ng 15 years ... pwede na siyang lumuhod sa kanila." Now he is putting himself in a cringe and awkward position whether he will HONOR (pardon the redundancy) the time-HONORed and stereotypical  "word of HONOR" ...  a commitment that he will do as promised like an oath or a pledge. Or a solemn vow ... na LULUHOD siya at kakainin ang kanyang salita.

His mistake was that he was not cautious and careful ... nor did he try to do research about It's Showtime ... which will be celebrating its 15th anniversary this October 2024 ... meaning the Madlang people will see Joey de Leon "KNEEL" in its full regalia and splendor in the next six months. I can't wait.

As I told you in my previous post ... I witnessed Joey playing with words before ... at walang halaga sa kanya ang kanyang mga salita niya ... and just like any slippery eel nilulusutan ang dapat lusutan.  Now he is singing a different tune ... hindi naman daw It's Showtime ang kanyang pinaparinggan kundi mga bloggers. Sensing the future embarrassment ... dahil matabil siya ... the spin doctor in him made him spew lies and bend the truth one more time.

He is a modern Pinocchio all right.

To the uninformed ... Pinocchio is a puppet who is being punished for every lie that he tells by undergoing further growth of his nose. The more lies he tells ... the longer it becomes.  There was one point when his nose was elongated ... he could not even go through the door of his room.

By the way ... tanong ng isang certified Kapamilya: " kung hindi Its Showtime ang pinaparinggan mo ... then sino ang show na wala sa Top 5 World's longest show and need umabot ng 15 years ... bago luhuran?"

Vice Ganda - Spontaneous Comedian

In the segment Expecially For You ... Vice Ganda displayed again he is a spontaneous jokester. He has a natural impulse or tendency ... his jokes are unsolicited and unplanned.  His jokes make you suspect it was carefully prepared beforehand ... but it was not. His comment just fell from out of the blue, unrehearsed, unplanned, voluntary ... an impromptu or a spur-of-the-moment remark.

After seeing the third searchee in the segment Vice noticed her perfect nose ... she said ang dulo ng ilong ay aabot na sa Eat Bulaga? At the start wala pa akong reaction ... pero tinanong ko ... paano naman pumunta sa Eat Bulaga ang joke?

Matalino si Vice ... and knowing him ... hindi basta lalanding ng basta basta ang Eat Bulaga sa joke na walang man lang relevance.

Knowing the story of Pinocchio ... at yong mahaba niyang ilong ... Joey is now making his initial strides para gumawa ulit ng panibagong kasinungalingan para mapalambot ang mga naghihintay na madlang people who is all eager to see ng pagluhod ng mga tala. At pagbawas ng kahambogan.

This early stage of the game ... para na ring siyang LUMUHOD.

The Battle of Noontime Shows

Bilog ang mundo.  Eat Bulaga na dati ay sa GMA nasa TV5 na ... at ang It's Showtime na dati sa TV 5 ay nasa GMA na. Was that a twist of fate ... a coincidence ... or somebody concocted a genius "noontime duel" mano a mano ... para mas lalong bumango at pagusapan ang dalawng show.

When It's Showtime decided na mag-over the bakod sila sa GMA ... almost every day their ratings have gone to the roof ... DWARFING the once GIANT - Eat Bulaga.

Araw araw may mga pasaring ang bawat kampo ... at si Cristy Fermin bumubuga ng apoy. Walang nagpapatalo. Pati mga host ay sumali na rin. This prompted Joey de Leon na mangantiyaw na: "Umabot lang ang Its Showtime ng 15 years ... pwede na akung lumuhod sa kanila."

Hello ... Mr. Joey de Leon. Is that for real? Hindi mo ba alam na this October ... ay anniversary nila ... and 15 years to be exact? To the uninformed It's Showtime started October 24, 2009.

Ayan tuloy ... hinihintay ng It's Showtime fans ang pagluhod ng mga tala.

Ikaw kasi mayabang.  Magreasearch muna bago ... ibuka ang bibig.

If I know Joey ... sasabihin niyang hindi naman 15 years and sinabi niya ... 50 years.

Sigi magsinungaling pa more. May mga resibo ang mga fans ... kaya panindigan mo na JDL na may isa kang salita.

Sigurado ako ... mag-trending at mag-viral ito sakaling dumating ang araw na ito.
