Slip of The Pen?

If you are a grammar police who usually gets irritated and cannot stand your penchant for the use of the fractured King's language ... incoherent sentence structure and semantics ... mind-boggling syntax and word coordination ... this nook is not for you. 

But traveling from Aparri to Jolo ... we encountered signage in the streets that managed to put a smile on our faces ... even though Robin Padilla's grandiose display of bad opinions ... or China's flexing his superpower muscle ... has riled up and angered our tender sensibilities.

We are here to celebrate (not mock) the little cracks and flaws in the manner we communicate ourselves. All of us make mistakes ... and at a time when a kilo of rice at 20 pesos is next to impossibility ... we need a little outlet to have a hearty laugh.

And no matter how over-use the cliche goes ... Laughter is indeed ... the best medicine

"Ano oras kaya darating ang danger soon? Sigi nga makapagdive muna ... one time lang. Mamaya pa naman siguro ang pagbisita ng danger".

"Magisip ka nga ... Hindi mo ba alam ang DANGER SOON dito ... ang ibig sabihin sa atin ... ay DANGER ZONE?"

VIOLET kamote makes you VIOLENT ... says who? Come to think of it ... it only cost a cheap P25.00 to egg you to go on a rampage and run "amok"?

So please be careful with what you write. A little error in your spelling ... can be deadly.

Sa isang kolum nabasa namin ang title ng isang write up ng isang pageant veteran about the staging of the finals ng isang kontest: "The CROWNING of Mr. International Philippines 2023."

Nagbibiro ba siya? Saan ba ang crown ... aber? E sa siyam na nanalo ni isang korona wala akong nakita. Di ba dapat the SASHING of the winners na lang? Or ... if you find that awkward and cumbersome ... make it simple ... the announcement of the winners will just be okay.

Paalaala sa lahat.  Lahat naman nagkamali eh. Basta bantayan natin ang ating mga sarili. Huwag magmadali ... at huwag yong sulat ng sulat na hindi iniintiendi kung ano ang sinusulat.

Hindi kaya mahina lang sa spelling si kuya o si ate? Or was this a classic case of a Freudian slip - an unintentional error but revealing a subconscious feeling? Baka maganda o pogi yong bumili kaya ganon? Ayan sina-psychoanalyze na naman natin ang nagkamaling ito.

I don't need a STEM or a branch.  I need the WHOLE plant. And let me remind you ... I don't need MANGOES for my orchard ... I already have 50 of them and it's overpopulated ... with different varieties (carabao mango, Indian mango, Guimaras, apple mango, Thai mango (nam dok mai)

What I want is MANGOSTEEN ... and for a while, the label confused me ... that what you are selling are mangoes!

(PS: This happened today ... when I saw the labels, I was amused and intrigued.   For the first time in my life ... the price was not important to me. Whoever labeled that ... really did a number on me.)

Choice Cut

 (Some Pinoy programs on TV barely make a glitch on our radar screen, but there were lines uttered that invaded our collective consciousness so much so that we find ourselves echoing its most famous lines in our everyday conversations. Some lines manage to put a smile on our faces making us happy and contented.

The classic lines whether intentional or accidental just resonate with us, because we can relate to the scene and see our lives being lived out onscreen.)
