Play With Words

Original Kasabihan: Ang maglakad ng matulin, kung matinik ay malalim.

Responding To Netizen's Comment

Netizens Comment: I was intrigued by the quotes you used in the issue of "why people tolerate bad behavior." What does it mean by" Be careful of what you tolerate ... you are teaching people how to treat you?

Response: Simply ...  with every rudeness and ridicule you put up and disregard ... with every boundary violation (such as nonconsensual touch, name-calling, unsolicited advice) you allowed ... with every emotional manipulation and control you give in or you gave up ... they are hallmark signs that you have given these individuals a free pass ... to do or say whatever manner they wants it to be.

You haven't set any personal boundaries with them. Tell them and communicate with them ... what you will and will not tolerate.  "This is what I am okay with ... and these are the ones that are inappropriate and not acceptable."

Effective boundaries protect your personal space, your physical and mental health, and your safety and security.

Until you stand up for yourself ... and you set limits to other people’s disrespect ... you’ll forever be at the mercy of their manipulation and control.

Why People Tolerate Bad Behavior 2

Other reasons why people tolerate bad behavior.

1. Financial reasons- You allowed abuse because you are dependent on them ... financially that is.

2. Relationship reasons - If the person is your husband or your children ... you tolerate their bad behavior because setting limits will fuel more trouble in paradise, more toxicity, and more dysfunction.

3. Unresolved phallic stage and childhood traumas- please refer to Sigmund Freud's psychosexual development, especially the issues of separation anxiety.

4. Fear of being alone - you put up with bad behavior lest it will mar your relationship.  Keeping gagged and mum about disrespect and how they treated you ...  to you is a far better option than being given a cold shoulder, ignored, or separated.
