Netizen's Comment:

Regarding Chris Tan's Video which one would you follow, principles or personalities? What is the importance of having principles in our lives? How do your personal principles affect the way you live?

Response:

Having core principles isn't only important in the workplace. As an individual, it's important to develop your own guiding standards so that no matter what life or work comes your way, you know what you believe in, what you stand for, and what leads your daily decisions.

Principles are your blueprint in life. If your blueprint is not clear, you will have no direction. You end up following the person you admire or idolize. It helps guide you on how to make the right choices. because if you don't have basic principles embedded in you, you end up following the politician or the movie star or somebody in the neighborhood that has taken your fancy.

When you act or speak against your morals, you begin to experience guilt and shame. You feel guilty about your actions, which can cause you to feel ashamed of yourself. Sticking to your moral principles helps you live a life you are proud of.
Following a personality can help you guide your life too especially if they are doing the right thing. But one should be smart enough to know what is good and bad. If your idol has the habit of lying or stealing don't jump on the bandwagon and follow their examples. And don't be apologists for them, or cover their traces especially when you knew they are on the wrong side of the road. And worst is voting for them when there are available options more capable and more responsible.
“Your time is limited, don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma, which is living the result of other people’s thinking. Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.
Stop trying to please other people or be someone else. It’s better to be an original version of yourself than an exact duplicate of someone else.
Learn from criticism. Be open to criticism but don’t be affected by it. Criticism is meant to help you be a better person. Learn from it.
Don't be afraid to quit the things that don't serve your path. Do the things you love, because life is too precious to spend it doing anything else. If you don't enjoy something, then don't do it. Spend your time and energy on things that bring you fulfillment and happiness.
