A political meme is a purposefully designed visual framing of a position. Memes are a new brand and fashion of political messages, campaigns, and advertising. It is a new way of communication ... a joke or humor understood only by a particular group of people.   They are inside jokes or private jokes and has the ability to trigger an emotional reaction.

Memes work politically if they go viral when shared on any social media platform ... and if they help foster and nurture affinity, attachment, and a sense of belonging to a political party, circle or  “in-group” and if they make a strong and riveting statement about a public figure or political issue.

Memes can spread rapidly online and into popular culture due to their shareability — they are easily created, consumed, altered, and disseminated. They can quickly communicate the creator’s stance on the subject. The stronger the emotional response provoked by a post, the greater the intent to spread it.

On the other hand, editorials are magazine or newspaper articles that cater to the publisher or the editor's opinions and points of view. It is usually accompanied by political caricatures or cartoons that are related to what the editor says.

 

Like political memes, it is meant to influence public opinion and encourage and stimulate analytical and judicious critical thinking that sometimes makes its readers take action on an issue. At its core, an editorial is an opinionated news story delivered in professionally.

It usually addresses and covers the most pressing issues of the day, viral political developments, and attempts to devise and hatch new perspectives and viewpoints based on non-partisan and unbiased scrutiny of facts on hand vis a vis some other contradicting opinions.

An editorial is predominantly about balance just like Fox News adopting a motto "Fair and Balanced" network. But on some cases, editorials were meant to stir things up, when such is the need.

Meme on Stepping Out of Your Comfort Zone

 

I just hope memes will be an effective means to make people realize it is important to open your window and smell the coffee ... where you breathe fresh air and imbibe the positive vibes that are floating in the air. 

Really I am dumb-founded and I can't hold back my punches anymore. I really don't understand how people manage to make themselves victims of injustice by locking themselves away and throwing the key ... just because they want comfort and they need a safety net away from the peering and the judgemental eyes of their peers ... and from the demands of what seems a cruel world for them.

Coming out of your shell is an opportunity to move your head around and understand what things have you deprived your selves of experiencing. If you are content with having adobo all your life ...  that's fine. But did you realize there may be other options you have to try other than Filipino food? 

Have you heard of Korean samgyeopsal ... hearing it the first time ... were you not intrigued by what the experience of eating it would be? Hearing it is different ... from actually eating and tasting it. If you don't like the taste at least you know that will be the first and the last time you will order it. Iba ang natikman mo ... kaysa sasabihin mong ayaw mo nito kahit wala kang ideya kung ano ang lasa nito. Baka wala ka lang pera kaya sarado ang isip mo?

Katulad ng pangalawang meme ... the turtle really has to stick out his head to acquire knowledge and learn new things. Learning new things will allow you to understand and be aware of what the world is all about and how you fit into its mold and its challenges. It will also pave the way for curiosity to set in ... making you explore and experiment.

Once you have decided to step out of your shell, you gain new understanding and insight and the boost of courage that you wouldn't have otherwise. 

And here me on this: if you allow fear of the unknown to handcuff you back to your cave, it will put you in shackles for the rest of your life - and there will be no growth in you - yes you have germinated - but it's after effect have stunted your development... and that really didn't equip you the "self-belief" and the confidence needed to determine your purpose.

Who's Next

The controversial Chocolate Hills resort has gone viral. Not only one ... but several thousand more have joined ranks to express dismay that the resort just like Torre de Manila is an eyesore in the 20/20 vision of our readers.

Despite their anger, however ... some enterprising netizens managed to resort to humor as a temporary relief to cover up their resentment and frustration. If you have not seen it yet - a tsunami of memes started circulating on every imagined platform ... after a blogger posted an outrageous Chocolate Hill expose'.

Still, others find solace in doing a balancing act with their sanity by making memes where their ideas are getting funnier by the minute.

The above image is the best there is.  It utilized humor and at the same time opened our eyes to painful realities by exposing its evils.

 I can't help but reprint the post of Mel Aguinaldo.  His meme ... and most of all the caption that goes with it manage to put a smile on my face as I struggle to come out sane from all this Chocolate Hills insanity.

See ... very respectful naman ang sulat  ... at nagsa-suggest lang naman siya. But one thing is sure naghuhumiyaw ng SARCASM ang message niya.

Satiric, ironic and sardonic. Being sarcastic is when one intentionally inflicts pain by deriding, taunting, or ridiculing ... and Mel Aguinaldo succeeds on all fronts.

Kathryn Bernardo's Meme

"Do you know why I am not jealous of you?"  This is the content of Kathryn Bernardo memes circulating around that jolted the already flabbergasted showbiz populace. Whoever her statements are directed to is irrelevant and inconsequential. Basta namnamin na lang natin yong pagiging straight forward nito at pagiging direct to the point.  Kung may pinapatamaan ... o kung may tinamaan ... wala na tayo doon.

The comment was "tagos to the bone marrow".  Mahiya na lang kung may dapat mahiya. Hindi ka man nasampal ni Kathryn ... mamula-mula pa rin ang pisngi mo ... patunay na tinablan ka kahit konti man lang sa sinabi niya.
