The Keys of Authority: The authority granted to Peter came with a solemn duty to guide, protect, and govern the community, anchored on spiritual truth rather than earthly force.

When translating the Gospel of Matthew into modern Philippine political history, the metaphor of the "Rock" underwent a dramatic political adaptation during the administration of former President RRD.

When PRRD designated Senator Ronald "Bato" (Rock) dela Rosa as his top enforcer and right-hand man, the country witnessed a political déjà vu from today's gospel —except the foundation was built on an entirely different kind of strategy.

Instead of building a church, the former administration built its centerpiece campaign—the anti-drug war—upon its chosen "Bato".
