Miss Universe Philippines' final night was full of surprises - too many heartbreaking changes and developments ... and too many unexpected twists and turns that will put the much talked about teleserye Linlang to shame and will make them look like a novice.
1. The parang galit hosting style ni Alden Richards.
2. Chelsea Manalo's balancing act with her crown as Michelle Dee smiles in the background
3. Christy McGarry's tearful reunion with friends and family after the coronation
4. Malakas sumipa ng mga dark horse - pati front-runners hindi pinatawad.
5. The Philippines without a doubt is a Miss Universe country. 6.2 million views in less than three hours are one phenomenal record.
6. The 6.2 million views - kasama ang international pageant community diyan. People from other countries want to see the finals firsthand so they will know who they will deal with in Mexico.
7. If Alexie Mae Brooks looked like South Africa's Zozibini Tunzi Miss Universe 2019 ... Chelsea Manalo looked like Wendy Fitzwilliam Miss Universe 1998 from Trinidad and Tobago.
8. The white gown of Chelsea Manalo made the other designer's gown look archaic and out of fashion. No more gowns that almost bare the soul (slits that run from the bottom up, no decolletage, no cleavage, and no revealing low-necked deep-cuts.
9. The five-hour pageant marathon could have been more fun. Having to sit through all that ... makes the exciting finale underwhelming.
10. The opening number was an improved and upgraded version ... that is if you based your judgment on the past run-of-the-mill ... mediocre and so-so opening salvo they dished year in and year out.
11. We heard from the grapevine that Stacey Gabriel (first runner-up from Cainta) declined any of the crowns. When asked what title she wanted, she replied that it was Miss Universe or nothing.
12. Fourth runner-up Christie Lynn McGarry (Taguig) is also eyeing the Miss Universe Philippines crown. Despite the fourth runner-up finish, she wasn't given any crown because she is over age in all other crowns offered except for Miss Universe where she is eligible.
13. Miss Universe Philippines 2024 is another deja vu. Remember Beatrice Luigi Gomez who rose like a phoenix and beat them all? Everyone's attention was focused on Steffi and Katrina ... and in 2024 everyone is going gaga over Ahtisa and Alexie Mae.
14. The ads were endless ... we watched the show to enjoy and get thrilled instead we were driven to the edge like some kind of masochistic exercise - (deriving pleasure on what appears to be a painful ritual.)
15. I have nothing against Win Metawin. He is a Thai actor. The question was ... since when have we commissioned Thais to do intermission numbers for us? It is quite ironic to have a guest entertain us with a song, but he is not a singer.
