Political Shorts

I am apolitical.  I have no interest or involvement in politics. I let the diehard fanatics fight their own wars. Kung may nagbabangayan na ... makinig tayo and get entertained.

I don't have to be a diehard or rabid fan of this and that politician. I don't have to be a staunch defender of somebody ... I have a lot of more important things to do than spending my precious time debating with issues ... na wala naman akong mahita in return except frayed nerves and a temper that can hijack one's peaceful life.

Katulad ng issue ng confidential funds ng Vice President, marami ng mga conflicting at maanghang na sagutan ang narinig natin lalo na between the Vice President and Senator Riza Hontiveros and Rep. France Castro.

The Vice President was quoted to say, "I have no respect for them." Dahil kontra Sila sa confidential funds?

And the Senator responded: " We do not need and demand the VP to respect us.  All we want is her accountability and where they spent the money."

The debate that fan the embers of controversy and rocked the House and the Senate zeroed in on the investigation of confidential funds of the OVP and Department of Education. This did not stop the Vice President from issuing some sweeping statement that will forever be etched and become another classic political meme that will reverberate for a long time in the esteemed walls of YouTube and other social media platforms.

"Ang kumokontra sa intelligence and confidential funds ay kumukontra sa kapayapaan ... and kumukontra sa kapayapaan ... ay kalaban ng bayan."

The soundbyte created a lot of sneers and jeers and one netizen was quick to respond: "ANG PAGLUSTAY AT PAGNAKAW SA CONFIDENTIAL FUND ... AY KALABAN SA KAPAYAPAAN AT KALABAN NG BAYAN. "

The more sharp and pungent the responses are ... the better... that separates the men from the boys ... and women from little girls.

And just yesterday according to Ronald Llamas, Sam Panelo ... the presidential spokesman offered his two cents worth of opinion about the confidential  fund. He said: "Bakit kinuquestion ang paggastos ng 125 million in the span of 11 days ... di ba dapat ginastos ito sa isang araw lang?"

A netizen got irked when he heard that.  "Who is asking for his opinion anyway? Was that how loose his moral compass was when his previous amo's daughter was in hot water and he came to her rescue?

Risa at Rep.  France."

O yong blood pressure mo ate!

I was laughing at the review of Christian Esguerra about the political sound-byte issued by the Vice President. Being a professor himself Christian finds it hard to see LOGIC in her statement.  He further said "Kahit sa syllogism parang mahirap pumasa ..."

What are syllogisms by the way? A syllogism is a form of logical reasoning where the conclusion is gotten from two given premises and propositions ... each of which shares a term with the conclusion ... and the middle term is not present in the conclusion. (for example .. all lawyers are politicians (well ... not all) ... all politicians are good speakers (not all) ... therefore all lawyers are good speakers. (Well ... not all).

The given premises and proposition share a term in the conclusion ... and the middle term is not present in the conclusion.  Nakita ninyo?
