In the Gospel according to Matthew (3:13–17), humanity is treated to the grand, sublime revelation of the Holy Trinity during the Baptism of Jesus. It is a moment of perfect, mind-bending divine harmony: Jesus stands in the Jordan River, the Holy Spirit descends like a dove, and the voice of God the Father echoes from the heavens, declaring, "This is my beloved Son, with whom I am well pleased."
Three distinct Persons, one unified divine essence. Absolute, unbroken solidarity.
It is a profound, holy mystery. It is also a concept so completely alien to modern Philippine socio-political culture that if the Trinity were subjected to a local government audit, someone would immediately file a petition to divide it into three separate warring factions.
Notice how the Holy Trinity operates in the Jordan River. There is no mic-snatching, no press conference to clarify who did more work, and no unscripted broadcast claiming one Person of the Trinity is secretly embezzling grace from the other two.

• Three Persons, One Essence, Zero Ego.

• Two Families, One Election, Immediate Civil War.
B. [ THE HOLY TRINITY PROTOCOL ]
• Perfect alignment of mission and purpose.
[ THE PINOY POLITICAL UNITEAM PROTOCOL ]
• Alignment lasts exactly until the swearing-in ceremony.
C. [ THE HOLY TRINITY PROTOCOL ]
Total mutual praise: "Well pleased!"
[ THE PINOY POLITICAL UNITEAM PROTOCOL ]
• Mutual destruction: "Press conference at 2:00 AM!"
In Matthew 3, the Father proclaims His love for the Son, the Son humbly steps into the water to fulfill all righteousness, and the Holy Spirit brings the gentle, empowering presence. It is the ultimate blueprint of shared authority.
Compare that to our local brand of "unity." We can barely keep a Vice President and a President on speaking terms for six months before the group chats leak, the confidential funds get audited, and the political alliances disintegrate into a televised free-for-all.
The mystery of the Trinity demonstrates a flawless division of roles without any jockeying for top billing. The Father speaks, the Son acts, the Spirit descends.
If this divine event were run under contemporary local governance protocols, the baptism would have stalled in committee before Jesus even set foot in the river:
[ THE RE-IMAGINED EARTHLY BAPTISM FLOWCHART ]
JESUS STEPS INTO THE JORDAN RIVER
▼ LOCAL CONGRESSIONAL AUDITOR: "Wait! Who funded the dove? Is the Holy Spirit registered as an unliquidated asset?"
▼ SENATE COMMITTEE ON PUBLIC ORDER: "We need a hearing on why the Voice from Heaven didn't get a mayor's permit first."
▼ LOCAL FACTIONAL LEADER: "Bakit 'Beloved Son' agad? Paano naman 'yong party list natin?!"
Human authority is obsessed with credit, logos, and legislative turf wars. We refuse to co-exist in unity unless our personal brand is plastered on the side of the ambulance in 72-point bold font. The Trinity manages to govern the entire cosmos without a single billboard claiming, "Project of the Holy Spirit — At Your Service!"
The revelation of the Trinity exposes our tragic human tendency to worship single-headed tyranny or idolize individual political messiahs. We are constantly looking for a single "strongman" to fix the nation, completely missing the divine template: True strength lies in relational unity, accountability, and shared love.
THE HUMAN COALITION DIAGNOSTIC
A. DIVINE TRINITY:
• Distinct identities working in absolute harmony for the common good.
B. HUMAN TRIBALISM:
• Aggressively demanding loyalty while plotting the downfall of your coalition partner behind closed doors.
We claim to be a nation deeply rooted in Faith, yet our everyday lives are defined by relentless fragmentation. We split over political dynasties, regional rivalries, and comment-section feuds, all while professing belief in a God whose very nature is community and undivided love.
The baptism in Matthew 3 is more than a theological doctrine; it is a sharp, quiet rebuke of our obsession with division.
If three distinct Persons can be so intimately bound in love that they form One God, perhaps we can manage to share a country, a neighborhood, or a comment section without turning every minor disagreement into a scorched-earth civil war.
The mystery of the Trinity isn't just something to be debated in seminary classrooms—it’s a reminder that true power doesn't hoard the spotlight; it shines it on others.
