Everybody has to take care of their own side of the street and make them clean. It means being clear and self-responsible in your life and cleaning your emotional state up when you mess up. Just like dog owners, it’s best not to leave your emotional poop stinking up the sidewalk for others to step on. Scoop the poop out right away and move on.
So when you realize something is wrong you should know how to act when depression hits. When you get in that space, you recognize it, and when you identify what’s going on, and what needs to be done by all means do it right away. Seek help and make it your first option.
You can always argue that it is easier said than done. You see when (a voice from within) your inner demons and personal struggles are whispering to you, that it is A-OK to harbor anger and resentment or deny or deprive someone of your love and the other voice (your conscience) castigate you for it, this is where the conflict and the battle from within starts.
But somewhere amidst the noise and the cacophony of your internal combat, there’s is still YOU, the final arbiter, the final judge, the voice that chooses which road to tread. You can’t tone down which voice was deafening but you have the option to follow the clearest one and teach the others to back off.
After that, you seek help from professionals.
