Hey guys ... chill. I know each one of us is rooting for our favorite candidates. I put Katrina and Steffi on the pedestal and the fact that they lost, doesn't mean we have to bash the winner and blame Bea for Katrina and Steffi's shortcomings. Was it Bea's fault that she won? I don't think so. She just did was she had to do, just like the other candidates.
I am seeing a trend here ... that if the result did not go our way, we resort to bashing. It is a sad reality that pageantry has embraced this new kind of sport - and it is alarming because of the bandwagon effect (it is a psychological phenomenon in which people bash, tease and provoke primarily because other people are doing it, regardless of their own beliefs). So is it right for Pedro to bash just because Juan is doing it?
And what do we really accomplish with badmouthing Bea? Filipinos started the flame while the whole world is watching. So what do you expect ... everybody is having fun crucifying the victim, it looked like an open invitation for onlookers to join the demolition job. Thais and Indonesians will soon join the harassment spree and by the time we knew it, the small flame has already turned into a full-grown forest fire.
Whatever hope we had to get our fifth Miss U winner, or just maintain the country's winning streak was doused off by our own disregard for the process to happen and the lack of respect to give Bea to live up with the challenge and make her country proud.
Just think about this: Is it right for us to belittle Bea just because she didn't come close to your list of favorites? Are we going to waste another year of relentless bashing, and just throw our chances in Miss U until the most feared bearer of bad tidings declares for all the world to hear: PHILIPPINES DID NOT MAKE IT IN THE TOP 20!
And we did the bashing for what? Guys, we have a name to protect here ... and we don't want to blow it because we are so stubborn to listen to reason. Yes, we are disgruntled fans now and we want to show the MUP org our sentiments. That we are hurting.
So we look forward to the 2022 MUP winner. What happens if the next year's winner AGAIN will not live up to our expectations? Does that mean another series of lambasting and ridiculing? Gosh, what a vicious cycle of abuse!
Please guys Bea needs our support. Her mission is to maintain the winning streak, if not to win Miss U. It is just a pain to see, that some Filipinos would rather break the glimmer and the glitter than allow Bea to grow and spread her wings until she becomes a formidable force to reckon with in Miss U 2021.
