Unfortunately wala ng buhay at natabunan na ang balita sa impeachment ni Sara Duterte ng mga flood control scams and scandals ng ating mga butihing senador at congressmen. Whether it was intentional or not ... yon na nga ang current standing ... NILUNOD at NILUBLOB sa BAHA ang mga papungas pungas na balita ni VP ikumpara sa alingasngas galing sa massive corruption ever recorded sa history ng ating Kongreso.

May mga theory ... na yan daw ang main goal ng mga alipores ng VP sa Senado ... ang tuloyan nang naibaling at mai-divert ang attention ng mga madlang people sa mga alleged kasalanan ng prinsesa ng Davao.

Effective nga ang pakulo nila. Paano nga ba matabunan at itago ang nakakarimarim na mga rason kung bakit nauwi sa impeachment ng VP ang lahat?

Paano nga ba? Dahil uso nga ang baha ... perfect ang timing na buksan na ang Pandora's box sa gitna ng dagat-dagatan sa Taft Avenue. Lulunurin nila ng mga nakapanlulumong balita ng mga ghost flood projects na pinondohan ng bilyong peso ... pero hindi kailanman naumpisahan. O nang bagong umpisang project ... pero dumating ang tubig ... isang hampas lang .... wasak na. Kung hindi ka hihigupin ng balitang yan ... tell!

Diverting the attention of the Filipino people ... may mga nagsasabi that the scenario's intent is a shade of the 1997 film Wag the Dog, where a fictitious military action was concocted to distract the public from a domestic political scandal. Imagine ... bombahin mo ang isang nananahimik na lugar para lang maitago mo ang kati mo?

It centers on a spin doctor (same as a spokesperson like Hariruki) and a Hollywood producer who fabricate a war in Albania to divert voters' attention from a presidential sex scandal.

The Wag The Dog scheme ... people believe happened in America when President Bill Clinton "allegedly" had a midnight tryst with a White House intern, Monica Lewinsky. The hoopla created a lot of ruckus in the WH, and with constant drumbeating, it has the potential to erode public trust in Bill.

Was it a case of "art imitating life... or life imitating art," people ask. The similarity of the situation is almost identical because it followed the same pattern: A president embroiled in a sex scandal in the Oval Office tries to save his presidency by distracting the nation with a made-for-TV war when the admin initiated a bombing campaign in Iraq.

What is Wag the Dog to the uninformed? Wag the dog is a political term for the act of creating a diversion from a damaging issue. It stems from the generic use of the term to mean that a small and seemingly unimportant entity (the tail) controls a bigger, more important entity (the dog).

The phrase “wag the dog” refers to a strategy where a political leader engages in diversionary tactics—often involving military action or another high-stakes maneuver—to distract the public from a pending or existing scandal, crisis, or failure.

Balik tayo sa Pinas ... the Wag The Dog script being used in Inday's case is just a mirage, I think ... an optical illusion ... at hindi ako naniniwala doon. Not now ... not ever. Haka-haka lang yon. I know the senators want to save the VP from the impeachment ... but not by way of opening another can of worms that may eventually be splashed on their faces.

Sigurista ang mga senador na yan. Tinutulungan na nga si Inday ... pati sila madamay pa ... tapos sa kanila isingil ang mga utang nito? Huwag sila ... mga tol. Wais ang mga yan.

Ang mga nangyayari ngayon sa Senado at mga senador na tumutulong kay Inday sa linya ng mga commenters sa social media: "Amidst flood control projects scam ... KINARMA silang lahat."

Some misconstrued it as a divine intervention—a wake-up call ... and a reminder of the things they had ignored (the impeachment) .... and their excesses (archiving the impeachment complaints).

Iyan yata ang mangyayari ... kung nasa panig ka ng MALI. The bystanders already thought that the VP was already safe in the hands of the senators and the SC. May ibang nagiisip na hopeless na ang case ... yon ang akala natin ... pero ang Makapangyarihan has revised the storyline and devise the justice fit for them. Tingnan mo halos lahat sila ngayon in a panic mood at parang may naka-ambang Damocles' sword ready to fall anytime ... para i-out sila sa kahihiyan.

Let me end this post using Jessica Soho's words: Hindi pala sa baha malulunod ang Pilipinas. Malulunod pala ito dahil sa GANID ng tao."

Oooops huwag natin kalimutang isama ang kanilang followers na patuloy silang binoboto ... wala silang nakita at walang naririnig. Kung meron man ... political harassment ito ... or isang demolition job. How stupid!

Slip Of The Tongue

Even the grammar police ... do make mistakes.

The day has come when this loquacious and verbose high priest of the English language admits that he can also have unwanted slips of the tongue ... and that he can stumble also in a situation where he has to make excuses and use the much overused and battered cliché: " Tao lang po ... nagkamali rin ... in the most unexpected time and places."

In an impassioned discussion with us when we met in the mall accidentally (we talked about the latest political scandal - the flood project scams). Though he did not see that coming ... he showed us, like any ordinary mortal, that he can be human too - that he is capable of making conversation blunders just like anyone else.

After making everybody uncomfortable, what with his tendency to use the King's language (which made our ears bleed)... his word bank was copious and abundant (nay, it was vast and extensive), it dwarfed whatever little confidence or knowledge we had ... we'd rather be a willing listener than become an active but stammering debater.

He pounds his hand on the table to emphasize his thoughts and points ... and who could ignore his American accent that is just too hard to handle? As he rattled words (that seemed easy as ABC) ... it was paralyzing, we could not beat him at his own game. It was as though our tongues were frozen ... or tied. Or just timid to make boo-boos under his umbrella.

The discussion lasted for an hour, then the moment we had been waiting for arrived.

Obviously, he was angered by the news that floods were becoming a habit (it is almost like eating rice three times a day), and the government-sponsored flood projects scam was the main culprit. He was livid, nearly breathless ... and he was oblivious of the words that came out of his mouth.

"The Blue Ribbon Committee hearing was ANTI-CLIMATIC ... (when the CLIMATE and the floods are threatening the lives of the people) ... why drag the investigation and make it snail-paced when you can name names (senators and congressmen) right away?"

Anti-climatic was heaven-sent. Was this the opening we needed ... to taunt him or make him go down of his high horse? If we let it pass ... we will miss the opportunity of a lifetime to rub his verbal gaffes in his face.

If we confront him with his mistake ... we don't want to sound rude. We decided to do it anyway because we are curious as to what his reaction will be.

"I think what you mean is ANTI-.CLIMACTIC ...", I started teasing him.

His lips swelled up, and his face turned crimson-red.

"You don't have to be ashamed, my friend. Anybody can make mistakes (even to the syntax sheriff like you. ... It can happen to anyone ... nobody is exempt.

Obviously, you were upset ... and emotions at times distract the best of you and your train of thought." I consoled him.

"OO naman. Tao lang po. Pwede ring magkamali", was all he said.

Political Meme

I saw this meme today.  At first glance, I did not get what the author meant. Pero Napagtanto ko baka ito ang ibig niyang sabihin.  See if it matches yours.

The phrase "do as I say, not as I do" is the same as "Follow what I say ... and don't follow what I do.  

The message of this meme means that the children have to follow the instructions or advice given by someone, even if her actions contradict what she is telling them to do.

It implies that, while she may not be practicing what she preaches, her words still hold value and should be taken to heart. This phrase is often used in situations where someone acknowledges her own shortcomings or hypocrisy but still wants her instructions followed. 

But the meme above is not what the phrase says. If you look and listen closer, she is more of saying "Do as I say ... and do as I do." 

Or was she just telling the children: "Tingnan ninyo ako ... bakasyon grande ... naglalamierda pero may sueldo."
