Dating PNP chief, bagong DOH usec: BAKIT?

Oras de Peligro

I chance to see an update on the Joel Lamangan movie he promised "na pantapat" to counter the truth and the untruth of Maid In Malacanang. We witness the heated debate of Direk Joel Lamangan and Darryl Ong and I was so excited the movie will start shooting on October 25, 2022.

According to Atty. Howard Calleja, the producer of Oras de Peligro in his interview with Christian Esguerra, the movie will be shown next year coinciding with the commemoration of the EDSA Revolution.

Excited about the cast and the storyline I search for answers and The Filipino Writer completely gave us the most recent update: Here's the report:

Oras de Peligro: an Upcoming Movie by Director Joel Lamangan

Oras de Peligro is an upcoming movie by Filipino director Joel Lamangan )Rainbow's Sunset, Siphayo, The Bride and The Lover, Migrante, Desperadas). The film was written by Eric Ramos and Bonifacio Ilagan. It's to be produced by Bagong Siklab Productions. The film will follow a documentary-drama style wherein historical and archival footage are combined with dramatization. The film is about the experiences of a poor urban family during the final days of the Marcos dictatorship.

Bonifacio Ilagan, one of the writers of the film, is a Martial Law survivor. Ilagan and Lamangan have worked together in the past for multiple film and media projects. He is the elder brother of Rizalina Ilagan, an activist who was abducted in 1977. She was never seen again.

Serving as a backdrop for the film is the EDSA People Power Revolution. According to Lamangan, the movie is a conscious effort to help fight disinformation and historical distortion in the Philippines. The film will directly address the lies that Marcos propagandists and loyalists have been trying to embed into Philippine society for decades.

A press/story conference for the film was held on October 23, 2022.

A prolific director who made his first film in 1991, Lamangan is most well-known for his award-winning films which include The Flor Contemplacion Story, Sidhi, Deathrow, Hubog, Aishte Imasu 1941, Blue Moon and Mano Po.

Short Circuit

The appointment of the new health secretary made me think: the WAR on drugs is different from the WAR on Covid or other deadly plaques. Granted that Camilo Cascolan had a five-star record in law enforcement but one wonders if another pandemic comes, what will he do knowing his lack of knowledge on virology, mode of transmission, incubation period, and even just the simple protective gears - he might be groping in the dark.

Will he bury his head on the internet taking a crash course in microbiology, immunology, and the like, while the people of the Philippines are waiting what is his next move?   As they say ONLY IN THE PHILIPPINES.!

Commentary

Some people can't hide their bewilderment when the Marcos administration appointed Camilo Cascolan - one of the architects behind Oplan Tokhang as the Department of Health Undersecretary.

Common sense dictates that whoever heads a department is well-versed on health issues, its processes and protocols. Law enforcement skills are way too different, divergent, and contrasting to heading the nation against the pandemic. Maria Rosario Singh Vergeire has done a wonderful job, what else does Camilo Cascolan has that she doesn't have.

Responding To Netizen's Comment

Netizen:  What can you say about Miss Grand International's miracle increase in followers and likes.  Do you think this is legit? Now they are threatening to overtake the numbers of Miss Universe? By the way, what are bots and what is the difference between followers and likes?

Roberta Tamondong - Miss Grand International Philippines 2022

What is the difference between followers and likes?

FOLLOWERS are users who follow your account, while LIKES are what make your post popular. Nawat's main goal should be getting as many likes on each of the posts as that will ultimately boost his follower count.

The question is: Do Nawat's posts are really valued by netizens to merit the LIKES that it gets? Or is Nawat just using the number games to inflate his ballooning ego?

It’s that easy to boost your social media following, and a new report in The New York Times has also shed more light on the scourge of bots, among the reports of fake news and fake followers that are reportedly being used to influence the political cycle.

What are bots?

Broadly speaking, social media bots are automated programs used to engage in social media. These bots behave in either partially or fully autonomous fashion and are often designed to mimic human users. While benevolent social media bots exist, many social media bots are used in dishonest and nefarious ways.

According to that report, bot activity has increased on Instagram since the introduction of their feed algorithm, with people like Nawat looking to boost or maintain their presence by giving themselves more Likes - thus ensuring their content is more likely to be seen.

So Nawat has a follower count the size of Himalayas ... but it is a fake one. He doesn't care about buying followers, for as long as he has the numbers to blow his horn.

As for Nawat he can flaunt all the numbers but does that equal respect and recognition? Miss Universe did not attain its stature overnight.  He can overtake the numbers of Miss U all he wants, but it will be forever a pipedream.

To the chicken-hearted, don't worry. What happens to Nawat's IG numbers is INORGANIC growth. How many of these followers are real people? 700k followers in just 4 hours ... isn't that suspicious?

If this happens to you ... it is soul-shattering!

The Philippines is not poor because we are poor, we are poor because the few at the top of the food chain decided to do eat all you can instead of sharing to the needy.
