Hindi Naintiedihan ang Tagalog?

Would you believe kahit sa loob ng bahay si Nanay or yong bunso mong kapatid can be lost in translation ... yon bang para bang hindi kayo magkakilalang pamilya - para kayong mga Filipino na may halong Hapon or Tsekwa.

Sa simpleng request ba naman na "isaksak mo ang electric fan" (plug in the electric fan) tingnan mo kung ano ang ginawa ng isang tamad or pilosopong family member. 

Aba sinaksak nga ... pero utang na loob saan ka ba makakita ng ganoon? Di bale sana kung mga idiomatic expressions lang ang atin pinagusapan ... na nakalilito nga ... pero ito sinto-sinto lang ang makagawa niyan.

Or baka naman confused lang ... at hindi talaga naintiendihan. Honest mistake baga ... Sigi palusot pa!

Slip Of The Pen

A slip of the pen is a mistaken piece of writing when something else is intended.

It refers to unintentional errors made while writing often involving mistakes in spelling, grammar, or using incorrect words.

 I can't help but ask:

1.  What meal do they serve there?

2.  Turo- turo ba?

3. Smorgasbord?

4. Eat all you can?

5.  Is it a kiddie meal or Meals on Wheels?

6, Is it a TV dinner or a value meal

7. Is it a picnic or a potluck?

8. Is it continental breakfast or brunch?

You see the list will go on and on ... and that's because of your wanton disregard and your reckless and sloppy belief that everybody is forgiving ... and will just shrug off your semantic deficit and say, "he meant well ... ibalato na lang natin ang blunder sa kanya". Well ... not all the time sir!

And for a humor writer like me, I put malice and meaning to any word you use. I blame your thoughtless syntax because making people laugh or smile is very hard these days. After seeing the restroom image above, I don't have control over what kind of humor I will apply.  

From slapstick humor, it crumbles, decomposes, and follows the road to toilet humor. 

Much that I don't want to go that route ... I am human ... with all its weaknesses and frailty.

Slip Of The Pen

 If you are a grammar police who usually gets irritated and cannot stand your penchant for the use of the fractured King's language ... incoherent sentence structure and semantics ... mind-boggling syntax and word coordination ... this nook is not for you. 

But traveling from Aparri to Jolo ... we encountered signage in the streets that managed to put a smile on our faces ... even though Robin Padilla's grandiose display of bad opinions ... or China's flexing his superpower muscle ... has riled up and angered our tender sensibilities.

We are here to celebrate (not mock) the little cracks and flaws in how we communicate. All of us make mistakes ... and at a time when a kilo of rice at 20 pesos is next to impossibility ... we need a little outlet to have a hearty laugh.

And no matter how over-use the cliche goes ... Laughter is indeed ... the best medicine.

Michelle Dee has met her match. In the latest episode of Its Showtime Expecially For You ... Michelle will be dating the man considered a perfect foil to her achievements and success. Somebody equal to or maybe surpassing her accomplishment. Somebody who can contrast Michelle's qualities and make them more noticeable.

Aba kung maganda si Michelle ... Oliver is Piolo Pascual personified (did you notice the resemblance?)

If Michelle is the interviewer's delight, Atty. Oliver Moeller was dwarfing his competitors with his glib, intelligent, and smooth-talking way of answering questions. If Michelle is silky and fast-talking Oliver is Energizer Bunny who doesn't mince a word when putting punctuation marks in his one-liners.

If Michelle is a beauty that paints a thousand words, Oliver commands attention ... he is the male version of Michelle - beauty and brains.  If Michelle is a Miss U clone, Oliver is a potential beauty king wannabe, who has a body to die for and a brain that can grab a microphone and mesmerize you with his slick answers.

I am not really sure if this dating game ends on a positive note ... but we can always hope ... this match is made in heaven.
