Slip Of The Pen

 If you are a grammar police who usually gets irritated and cannot stand your penchant for the use of the fractured King's language ... incoherent sentence structure and semantics ... mind-boggling syntax and word coordination ... this nook is not for you. 

But traveling from Aparri to Jolo ... we encountered signage in the streets that managed to put a smile on our faces ... even though Robin Padilla's grandiose display of bad opinions ... or China's flexing his superpower muscle ... has riled up and angered our tender sensibilities.

We are here to celebrate (not mock) the little cracks and flaws in how we communicate. All of us make mistakes ... and at a time when a kilo of rice at 20 pesos is next to impossibility ... we need a little outlet to have a hearty laugh.

And no matter how over-use the cliche goes ... Laughter is indeed ... the best medicine.

I am getting cynical seeing slips of the pen like this.  Was it an honest mistake or did somebody make that up to get attention and have a great time laughing? I am suspicious because the thought and the message were vividly expressed, except for the encircled word. Pwede bang ang g'ling g'ling ng sentence construction mo at pati use of  English pwede pasar na ... pagkatapos may isang major na pagkakamali? Hindi na ba uso ang proof-reading pagkatapos mo magprint ng public notice ... to think that everybody can read it ... and it is for public consumption.

If this is true and was posted on a glass wall in a restaurant ... Bless His Soul! But if it was done with the intent mentioned above ... you make a fool of yourself.

Thrre Crowns In One Day

It is amazing where the Philippines is getting all this luck in pageantry. Not that I am complaining ... but last year there was an instance where the Philippines won 3 crowns in less than24 hours. Filipinos made that day ... a red-letter day because that feat remains unsurpassed. Not even Venezuela or USA or any SE Asian country holds "that One is for Ripley's record."

Well ... what do you know ... it sounds so surreal but deja vu paid us a visit one more time ... and March 24, 2024 to be exact is one of those dates to remember. Maria Gigante started the drumroll when she won Universal Woman 2024 in Cambodia.

Micahelle Joy Dumalaon came surging in when he won Mister Star Continental International 2024 in Vietnam.  And not to be outdone was Mark Joseph Gadaza who before the night is over won Mister World Ambassador International 2024 in Ho Chi Minh.

And not to be discounted is the feat of Larz Kent Dawson who settled for a first runner up finish in Mister Universe Tourism 2024 in Bali Indonesia. He was running 2 hours of sleep ... 0 caffeine - all adrenalin when we check his situation. 

I was even wondering if Erik Lennart Visser who is also from Philippines was not the last year winner - Larz could easily complete his journey by breaking last years record - getting 4 crowns in a matter of a day. The organization may have thought a back to back win for the Philippines would just be too selfish for comfort.

Showbiz Intrigues

It's Showtime will make an "over the bakod" move on April 6, 2024 from GTV to GMA7 and part to welcome the transfer is the big plan of Family Feud to make the hosts of It's Showtime make their once in a blue moon guesting.

But we are not here to talk about the red blanket reception of their once nemesis is noon time ratings. We are talking about Dingdong Dantes and Karylle who used to be "mag-syota" even before Marianne Rivera's knocking in Dingdong heart.

This early the showbiz firmament is abuzz with awkward, edgy  and uncomfortable scenario between the host and the guest. If our memory serve us right ... when Dingdong and Marianne suddenly dropped by the set of Showtime to promote their last movie ... Karylle made a disappearing act and was conveniently absent. 

And what is this ... that the grand plan to see in flesh and blood the disturbing self-conscious reactions between the two ... when they rub elbows in Family Feud ... and here comes Karylle waving the white flag of retreat. 

Now it can be told ... its "deja vu 2.0" one more time for Karylle because her name was conspicuously missing. Neither the group of Vice Ganda or Anne Curtis don't include her - to think that Karylle can always ace the question much better than any one else.

Was this a case of "first love never ever dies" ... or "letting go is just hard to do"?
