It Is All Acting Folks

I was browsing the trending news today, and I found this.

In the ever-dramatic world of Philippine Senate hearings, a shocking new plot twist has shattered the illusion of reality television: the surprise witness was acting.

THE LEGISLATIVE KABUKI PRODUCTION

1. [ THE ORIGINAL BLOCKBUSTER (2025)

Plot: Suitcases of cash delivered to high-ranking officials under the cover of darkness.

Status: National Television Sensation.

2. [ THE DIRECT-TO-VIDEO SEQUEL (2026) ]

Plot: The Affidavit was a total fabrication orchestrated by political directors.

Status: Recanted under sworn affidavit.

Act I: The "Sweet Promises" Casting Agency
According to a sworn affidavit, former Marine Orly Guteza revealed that his explosive testimony before the Senate Blue Ribbon Committee was neither an act of whistleblowing nor a crusade for truth.

It was simply a paid acting gig.

THE SURPRISE WITNESS COMPENSATION

• Promised Package: Suitcase of cash + College scholarships for the kids.

• Script Provided: "Deliver suitcases to the Speaker!"

• Performance Rating: 10/10 Dramatic Delivery.

• Actual Reality: 0/10 Factual Accuracy.

When high-ranking "honorable" figures reportedly offered "sweet promises" of cash and educational assistance, Guteza took the stand, held up his right hand, and read a pre-written script with the conviction of a veteran theater actor.

Act II: Moro-Moro or Kabuki Theater?
The public is left asking a fundamental question: Is every Senate inquiry just high-budget Kabuki theater?

[ THE DRAMATIC PRODUCTION FLOWCHART ]

DO YOU HAVE COLD HARD EVIDENCE? ──► NO ──► Recruit a "surprise witness." ──►PROVIDE A SCRIPT & SWEET PROMISES ──► "Tune in live on national TV for the explosive revelation!"

The tragedy isn't just that the story about cash-filled suitcases was fabricated; it's that the nation’s highest legislative halls are being treated like a live stage play. When honorable statesmen speak from elevated podiums demanding absolute public trust, yet behind the curtain run casting calls for affidavit readers, the entire spectacle collapses into cheap farce.

Act III: The Recalibration of "Honorable"

As the retraction affidavit circulates, the lesson for the Filipino public is clear: always check the director's credits before believing the drama.

THE REVISED WATCHING GUIDE FOR HEARINGS

1. Treat sworn testimonies as audition tapes until proven otherwise.

2. Assume suitcases mentioned in hearings contain props, not cash.

3. Never confuse high-decibel outrage with actual evidence.

In the end, while the actors recant, the directors shift blame, and the scripts are tossed into the recycling bin, the internet receipts remain.

The public didn't get a crusade for justice—they just got a very expensive Moro-Moro with zero rerun value.

Lastly, have we forgotten "Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbor"? It is the ninth of the Ten Commandments, found in Exodus 20:16 and Deuteronomy 5:20.

It commands people to tell the truth. It forbids lies that hurt other people.
