Ang Hustisya ay Neutral: Robin Padilla

Ang hustisya po ay neutral: Robin says prosecutions' duty is to seek truth, not victory.

Iyon naman ang ginagawa ng prosecution, ah. They aren't just 'seeking' the truth ...they were holding the truth from the get-go, which was their winning ticket from day one.

*************

Pareng Robin, huling-huli ka na. Gusto mo pang lumusot?

You accused the prosecution team of being one-sided ... nag-ingay sila at nagalit ka dahil hindi sila makapaniwala na ang bogus argument was coming from a senator-judge of all people. Dinagdagan pa ng tidal wave of backlash from the readers.

************

Tsong, we know what you are doing. You are trying to spin your catastrophic arguments by creating an angle that will soften the blow. You are in crisis-control mode.

It comes with the territory. Walang personalan… trabaho lang.

************

Katulad niyan sinabi mong "mga langaw na nakatuntong sa kalabaw" ang ilang members ng prosecution team, and he was specifically referring to certain personalities of the House prosecution panel.

Bago pa makasagot ang mga target ng statement mo ... the bashing was started by  netizens who were obviously infuriated by your condescending tone: "Ikaw ang langaw sa ibabaw ng kalabaw." I can't blame them, actually.

*************

"Paano naman naging langaw si Robin, aber ... at bakit doon siya sa ibabaw ng kalabaw?" asked other readers.

Robin didn't get up there by himself. He doesn't belong up there in the first place. He doesn't know what to do up there, and he has elevated himself beyond his ability to function. You just wonder what kind of dumb idiot put him up there to begin with."

*************

Padilla used the phrase " Meron na ba kayong nakitang fiscal na binabanatan ang judge?" (Have you ever seen a fiscal attack a judge?

Translation: When Robin said fiscal attacking the judge ... he meant the prosecution attacking the Senate judges ... where he was one of.

*************

To the prosecution, unawain na lang ninyong nasaktan lang ang damdamin ni Senator Robin. Despite his rough exterior ... sensitive po yan.

Remember the near-fisticuffs altercation with Senator Kiko Pangilinan ... dahil ayaw niya ang tinataasan ng boses.

All that matters is nasabi niya, as he pointed out, that those sitting in front were making noise and comments, "Hindi po allowed mag-ingay, korte po ito!" (They are not allowed to make noise, this is a court). O kitam?

*************

... Or paluhorin kayo sa monggo?"

*************

Seriously this time ... wala na bang interparliamentary courtesy between senators and congressmen?

*************

I read that his target is directed at House prosecutors, Terry Ridon and Leila de Lima, dahil kinukuwestiyon nila whether detained senator-judges such as Jinggoy Estrada and Rodante Marcoleta should be allowed to participate in the trial.

Kahit na ...  dapat nagtimpi pa rin siya. Respect is one value our teachers have taught us, and he was talking to the then Department of Justice head honcho Leila de Lima; tapos pinapatahimik mo lang?

*************

Baka yong sinabi mo is enough stimulus and reason to draw audible snickers and protests from them?

Kung Mataas Ang Trust Ratings Surveys Ni VP Sara ... Is it Safe To Say She Did Not Betray Pulic Trust?

Melvin Matibag?
Netizen 2: Hindi matibag-tibag ng defense si Atty. Melvin Matibag.

***************

Cross-examination sa impeachment trial:
Atty. Mark Vinluan: Considering the positive trust rating of VP Sara ... can one really say she betrayed public trust?

***************
Another Manifestation that needs answers:
Senator Kiko Pangilinan: Kung mataas ang trust rating, wala nang betrayal of public trust?

No, survey ratings don't decide betrayal of public trust. Having a high trust rating does not automatically mean a public official is free from committing a "betrayal of public trust." These two concepts are completely different and operate under entirely different standards.

***************
Survey Ratings: Trust or approval ratings from organizations like Social Weather Stations (SWS) or OCTA Research are essentially snapshots of public sentiment and popularity at a given time.

They are based on numbers, not on legal or constitutional evidence.

*****************
During formal proceedings, like the Senate trial evaluating Vice President Sara Duterte, legal experts and investigators emphasize that public accountability is not a popularity contest.

An official can remain popular among certain segments of the public while still being accused of violating constitutional duties or undermining the integrity of their office. Impeachment is determined by evidence, not by survey numbers.

*****************

Are high trust and approval ratings a license to just forgive and forget and move on?

High trust and approval ratings do not grant a license to simply forgive, forget, and move on, as accountability and transparency remain fundamental to leadership. While strong public support can provide leaders with a mandate to implement their agenda, it does not erase the responsibility to address ethical lapses, policy failures, or public grievances.

*****************

Accountability over Avoidance: High approval does not exempt a leader from addressing mistakes. Ignoring issues often erodes the very trust that generated those high ratings in the first place.

Support from constituents is typically viewed as a tool for enacting positive change and correcting errors, rather than a shield against consequences for wrongdoing.

*****************
When high-approval figures bypass standard accountability measures, it can set dangerous precedents, weaken institutional integrity, and alienate minority or dissenting voices. That's the danger of impunity.

Ultimately, sustained high trust is usually maintained by actively addressing concerns rather than sweeping them under the rug. Transparency and corrective action generally strengthen, rather than diminish, public confidence.

*****************
An OCTA Research survey shows that 80% of Filipinos want Sara Duterte to face the impeachment trial. Additionally, an SWS poll found that 70% of adult Filipinos believe she must answer the impeachment charges.

Atty.

*************
The survey results are a direct contradiction doon sa sinabi ni Robinhood na disenfranchisement daw ang impeachment sa mandato na ibinigay kay VP ng 32M Filipinos.

Masarap pakinggan, Binoe. Good try. Pero ang popularity is not a license to evade accountability.

*************

In the impeachment trial, the defense strategy backfired as the tandem of Senator-Judge Kiko Pangilinan and NBI Director Melvin Matibag dismantled the argument, exposing a fundamental conflation of political favorability with legal accountability.

When Vinluan pressed whether a 57% approval rating should impact the NBI's ongoing investigation into alleged national security threats, Director Matibag delivered a clear boundary check: law enforcement operates on evidence, due process, and statutory mandates - not public sentiment or an SWS survey.

Disbarment Warning for Pia Cayetano

The saga of the Cayetano Cinematic Universe has taken a dramatic turn from social media drama straight into the territory of the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP).

Legal experts and netizens are raising their eyebrows—and drafting disbarment complaints—after Senator-Judge Pia Cayetano, a proud graduate of the prestigious University of the Philippines College of Law, uploaded a 60-second edited masterpiece featuring House Prosecutor Chel Diokno.

Not only did the video chop off Diokno's actual explanation regarding probable cause and AMLC reports, but the editor also added the ultimate tool of high-level legal advocacy: a sitcom laugh track.

To appreciate the sheer legal brilliance of this post, one must look at how a 3-hour constitutional deliberation was converted into a 60-second comedy sketch.

[ THE PRODUCTION PROCESS OF SENATOR PIA'S FACEBOOK POST ]

1. INPUT: Chel Diokno gives a detailed, multi-part explanation on how bank subpoenas require probable cause based on billions in AMLC transaction reports.

2. EDITING ROOM:

- Cut out the part about AMLC reports. - Cut out the definition of probable cause.

- Isolate the words: "NAGBABAKASAKALI LANG!"

- Insert massive screen overlay: "WALANG EBIDENSYA PERO NAG-AAKUSA NA!"

- Insert Canned Laugh Track: *CUE LAUGHTER* laugh.mp3

3. DISTRIBUTION: Posted directly on the official Facebook page of a sitting Senator-Judge who is sworn to impartially weigh evidence in an impeachment trial.

Legal scholars were quick to point out that when you take the Lawyer's Oath, you promise to "do no falsehood, nor consent to the doing of any in court."

Under the traditional Code of Professional Responsibility, using spliced media to mislead the public about an ongoing judicial proceeding is generally considered a big no-no.

But under the New Social Media Rules of Political Advocacy, the rules are much more modern:

Traditional Lawyer’s Oath The TikTok Senate Edition
"I will do no falsehood." "I will upload whatever my social media manager sends me, as long as it gets high engagement."
"Never seek to mislead the judge." "I am the judge, so technically I am just misleading the audience!"
"Maintain the honor of the legal profession." "Add a laugh track at the end so people know Diokno got 'roasted'."
Rep. Chel Diokno, being a notoriously serious law professor who insists on ruining good memes with actual facts, immediately posted the full, unedited transcript.

He patiently re-explained that the prosecution didn't just walk into court saying "Baka sakali lang!" They brought financial intelligence reports from the Anti-Money Laundering Council showing billions of pesos moving through accounts.

He noted that opening bank accounts before getting a court subpoena would have actually violated Vice President Sara Duterte’s due process—meaning the prosecution was following the law to the letter.

[ THE BATTLE OF EVIDENCE ]

* DIOKNO'S EVIDENCE:

- Official Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) documents.

- Bank transaction paper trails.

- Constitutional due process protocols.

* PIA'S EVIDENCE: - 1-minute spliced MP4 file. - Heavy drop-shadow font. - Canned laughter from a 1990s American sitcom.

If the IBP actually pursues a disbarment case over this, the defense strategy is already clear. Senator Pia can simply argue that she wasn't acting as a lawyer or a senator-judge—she was simply acting as a content creator trying to beat the Facebook algorithm.

After all, why let actual bank records and constitutional law ruin a perfectly good comedy video?

The Response of the IBP: Bawas ang puntos sa UP Law, dagdag views sa Facebook Page. (Minus points for UP Law, more views for the Facebook Page)

Pagod Na Si Pia ... Nagbakasakal Langi

The 2026 Senate Impeachment Court has officially reached the pinnacle of digital filmmaking.

When House Prosecutor Chel Diokno took the microphone to patiently deliver a masterclass on constitutional law, explaining why a surgical, specific subpoena for Vice President Sara Duterte's bank records is nowhere near the invasive, door-bashing nightmare of a search warrant (and certainly not a "fishing expedition"), he used a hypothetical phrase to illustrate what illegal searching looks like:

"Fishing expedition... iyon 'yung 'baka sakali lang may makita tayo!'"

Naturally, a master video editor out there in the digital ether saw this and said, "Hold my editing software."

With a few quick snips, they sliced out Diokno’s actual explanation, isolated the quote, spliced in a dramatic reaction shot, added aggressive neon text overlays reading "NAGBAKASAKALI LANG... WALANG EBIDENSYA PERO NAG-AKUSA NA!", and handed it directly to Senator-Judge Pia Cayetano to repost on her social media channels.

The result? Pure political cinema.

For ordinary mortals bound by the Lawyer’s Oath, manipulating video footage to portray the exact opposite of what happened in front of your face is called an artifice—a violation of the oath to "do no falsehood, nor consent to the doing of any in court."

But in the high-stakes marketplace of political influencers, it’s just called "Content Strategy."

[ THE LEGAL EDITING TIMELINE ]

1. REALITY (3-Hour Live Stream): Diokno: "We are NOT doing a fishing expedition where you just look around saying, 'baka sakali lang may makita tayo.' We have probable cause and prima facie relevance!"

2. THE EDIT (The Splice & Dice): Diokno: "...baka sakali lang may makita tayo!" [Cuts directly to dramatic background music]

3. THE CAPTION OVERLAY: "ADMITTED! NO EVIDENCE! JUST HOPING TO FIND SOMETHING!"

4. THE REPOST: Shared directly by a UP Law alumna who was literally sitting in the room staring at him while he said it.

The absolute comedy of this situation lies in the physical geography of the Senate floor.

Senator Pia wasn't off getting a coffee. She wasn't tuning in via a spotty radio signal from a remote island. She was sitting right there.

She asked the question about the 1967 Stonehill vs. Diokno case! Diokno answered her question, to her face, in real-time, explaining the distinction between a search warrant and a subpoena.

Yet, somehow, the digital version that ended up on her Facebook page transformed the interaction into a self-incriminating confession from the prosecution.
A.
-What Happened in Real Life - Diokno defines what a fishing expedition is not.

-What Happened in the Edited Video - Diokno "confesses" to a fishing expedition.
B.
-What Happened in Real Life - Diokno explains why a subpoena requires specific documents.

-What Happened in the Edited Video - Diokno is portrayed as a clueless amateur guessing in the dark.
C.
-What Happened in Real Life - The Cayetano siblings recycle the "fishing" criticism.

-What Happened in the Edited Video -The video makes it look like the Cayetanos "exposed" him.

For a graduate of the University of the Philippines College of Law—and the daughter of the late, revered Senator Rene Cayetano, a man who built a career on fierce, honest advocacy—reposting a doctored clip is a bold choice.

When a lawyer posts a video that uses artificial editing tricks to deceive millions of viewers about a trial happening inside a co-equal branch of government, it creates a fascinating legal paradox:

Rule 138, Sec. 20-d: A lawyer must employ means only consistent with truth and honor, and never seek to mislead.

The 2026 TikTok Rule: If the clip gets 500,000 views and a bunch of supportive comments, who cares about the Rules of Court?

When you get caught red-handed—or rather, spliced-handed—the most honorable move isn't to leave the video up and pretend it's a difference of legal interpretation.

Everyone who watched the live stream (or the unedited 3-hour YouTube archive) knows what was actually said. The prosecution knows. The gallery knows. The UP Law alumni network certainly knows.

Pañera Pia, the internet keeps receipts, but Facebook also has a very convenient "Delete Post" button.

Taking it down might not erase the comedic absurdity of the moment, but it would certainly do wonders for the memory of the Lawyer’s Oath—and save everyone the embarrassment of watching a Senator-Judge get fact-checked by the very YouTube live stream operating in her own workplace.

The Response of the Court:

I-delete ang post, baka sakaling ma-save ang oath. (Please delete the post, and maybe you can save the oath).

Some students act like studying or doing homework is the hardest burden. They forget that their parents have been carrying the family's future on their shoulders for years.

Perhaps the students'cries of being "tired" should pause long enough to hear the silent exhaustion of parents, whose love and determination to make their children finish their studies keep showing up even when their energy has long run out.

The Parable Of The Yeast Vis a Vis The Current Political Landscape

Today’s Gospel presentation brings us the Parable of the Yeast (Matthew 13:33), a remarkably concise one-sentence lesson with a profound impact.

Jesus describes a woman mixing a tiny pinch of yeast into three measures of flour until the entire batch of dough rises and doubles in size.

As theology reminds us, yeast is a powerful metaphor that cuts both ways - either good or bad.

In the chaotic kitchen of the 2026 Philippine political landscape, our leaders have mastered both recipes: the yeast of explosive growth and the highly toxic, infectious "yeast of the Pharisees."

Let us look at how a little bit of leavening is currently baking the biggest political drama in the country.

1. The Positive Yeast
In the positive sense, yeast represents how something microscopic can expand until it impacts the entire world. In our current political landscape, this is perfectly mirrored by the Yeast of the Audit Trail.

[ THE EXPONENTIAL BAKING PROCESS ]

* THE TINY PINCH OF YEAST: A single, solitary signature on a confidential fund acknowledgement receipt under the name of a snack food: "Mary Grace Piattos."

* THE FLOUR: The daily operational budget of the Office of the Vice President.

* THE LEAVENED BATCH: A massive, nation-stopping Senate Impeachment Trial that has completely consumed the evening news, the NBI Cybercrime Division, and every TikTok algorithm in the country.

Who would have thought that a tiny, three-inch piece of paper could act like high-grade baking powder?

That single, unassuming name was mixed into the congressional archives, and within months, it caused the entire political system to swell up into an existential constitutional crisis.

It proves that accountability starts small, but once the yeast of truth gets to work, you cannot stop the dough from rising.

2. The Negative Yeast
But as Saint Paul warned in Galatians, “A little yeast works through the whole batch of dough,” and Jesus explicitly defined the yeast of the Pharisees as hypocrisy.

The Pharisees are the pretenders—the power-hungry impostors who sound deeply religious and righteous on the outside, but inwardly possess zero regard for actual justice or consistency.

In the Senate plenary today, this negative yeast is spreading like a biological hazard, contaminating the minds of the electorate.

-The Pharisaical Directory of the Upper House: You can track the spread of this deceptive, creeping entity by watching how quickly our honorable senator-judges change their moral doctrines depending on who is sitting at the witness stand.
A.
The Outward Pharisaical Proclamation
- Senator Robin Padilla: "Shouldn't the natural reaction of a person with a case be to face it bravely?" (Delivered with intense action-star righteousness to NBI directors).

The Inward Reality (The Yeast of Hypocrisy)
The Spreading Contamination: Robin turns into an underground railroad driver, reportedly smuggling his ally Senator Bato away from arresting officers under the cover of night, while remaining totally blind to the VP dodging her own impeachment hearings.
B.
-
The Outward Pharisaical Proclamation
-Senator Pia Cayetano: "I will roar like a lioness to protect the independence of this court and stop the intimidation of any senator!"

The Inward Reality (The Yeast of Hypocrisy)
The Spreading Contamination: Her righteous vocal cords, which were completely muted and paralyzed for a decade while critics were jailed, are suddenly supercharged by the mere mention of her brother’s unliquidated 2019 SEA Games cauldron.

This is exactly what Jesus was warning his disciples about. The "Yeast of the Pharisees" is a deceptive, creeping entity.

It starts with one politician redefining "Free Speech" to justify grave threats, spreads to another politician claiming a lateral transfer is a "political reward," and eventually infects the entire legislative body until the concept of equal justice is completely unrecognizable.

They use the Constitution as a personal baking apron—only putting it on when they need to protect themselves from getting burned.

The lesson of the Yeast leaves the Filipino people with a very important culinary choice as we head toward the future.

We are the dough. If we allow the yeast of hypocrisy, dynastic self-preservation, and selective amnesia to keep fermenting in our state institutions, the entire nation will end up sour, bloated, and completely unpalatable.

It is time to discard the old, contaminated sourdough starter of traditional politicians and look for leaders who understand that the law applies to the entire batch—not just to the ordinary ingredients.

Nasanay sa Libre at Hingi

VP Sara is asking the Senate to shoulder the catering expenses for the defense in the impeachment trial.

Sanaol.

*************

*************"

People are wondering where Inday is getting the audacity to make such outrageous demands.

Take it from Robin. Dapat hindi ka one-sided.

*************

People complained that it doesn't make sense, especially when they learned that the VP is again on a spur-of-the-moment trip to heaven knows where. Ginawa ng Divisoria ang The Hague.

Nakakawindang lang. Merong pera sa pagbakasyon, tapos wala siyang budget sa "lafang" ng defense who is moving heaven and earth to save her butt? Where are her priorities?

*************

It is a direct insult to Filipinos brand of hospitality.

At saan na ang kanilang delicadeza? Where is the impartial and the neutral Senate na pinangangalandakan nila? As Robinhood said: Hindi tayo one-sided!

*************

Parang nakita namin ang rason why she did this.

Sakaling granted ... gustong niyang ipagyayabang: Whatever Inday wants ... Inday gets! Plain and simple.

*************

*************

Win Gatchalian and Erwin Tulfo rejected Inday Sara's request and were firm in saying using public funds is inappropriate.

Can you imagine pag na-approve ang request ... taong-bayan na ang nawalan ... nanlibre pa ng tsibugan? Nakakaloko di ba?

*************

Well, I don't blame Erwin for hesitating. Siguradong tatawanan ’yan ni Inday… Hindi siya takot sa COA.

*************
