Yakapin Mo Ang Iyong Pagkamali

"Matuto kang YAKAPIN ang iyong PAGKAMALI. And then he started EMBRACING his computer."

I already told myself "Enough of this malapropism inanities ..." So I vowed I was not going to touch this subject with a ten-foot pole but the image's effect on me ... just send me to some deep thoughts ... the statement above and the image just make sense.

Pagkamali ba ang computer? Hindi naman ... so why the statement? Pag sinabi bang "yakapin ang iyong pagkamali ... does it mean that you have take it literally as in yakapin mo? Sa katunayan if you are you going to scrutinize the image ... you will see na parang nadagdagan pa yata ang kanyang love at "kahibangan"at pagkaaddict sa computer at paglaro ng ML games. Di ba?

Hindi ... there's another story behind the story in the image. Matalinhaga nga pero totoo. Story ito ng isang grown up adult ... at narealize na niya ang kanyang pagkamali. Istorya ito nang pagbangon at paghaharap sa buhay ... at bagong pag-asa pagkatapos ng ilang taong pagkalugmok.

Kuwento ito ng isang 27 years old na napabayaan na niya ang kanyang mga mahal sa buhay. Ang kanyang BUHAY na walang saysay at walang BUHAY ... dahil kung ang iba ay nalulong sa druga ... siya naman ay nalulong sa mobile legends. Akala niya dati hindi naman ito druga ... ang mga laro sa computer are nothing but harmless and safe past times. Yon ang akala niya

Yes, it is true ... wholesome at tame ang larong ito ... but anything that exceeds the boundaries of being normal is abnormal.

If you are past 18 and mobile legends prevent you from finding a decent job ... that is abnormal. If you spend the wee hours of the morning pounding your computer ... unmindful whether others are sleeping or not .... something is irregular. Much more if you don't care about electric bills ... kasi hindi naman ikaw ang nagbabayad?

If you care about your fellow ML player (na hindi mo naman kilala ... na nanggagaling sa kung saang lupalop ng mundo ...) more than your family something is wrong somewhere. If you worry about them at ayaw mong mabitin sila dahil gusto pa nilang maglaro ... tapos magagalit ka sa kung sino ang kumakatok sa pinto dahil disturbo lang? Malay mo emergency yon ... tapos sisihin mo ang maid dahil binuksan niya? Hindi ba abnormal yon?

And it becomes a serious problem when these harmless hobbies affect his relationship, even his health lalo na kung lagi siyang puyat at wala ng pahinga. Hindi na siya makapagluto, palaging nagmamadali. Remember ang addiction ay hindi lang sa druga ... there is such a thing as NON-SUBSTANCE ADDICTION - like gambling, sex, pornography, food, the internet, shopping, gaming, casino hopping paghanga sa artista ... the list goes on and on.

One thing that describes all addiction is total LOSS OF CONTROL - loss of control sa sarili at lahat ng iyong ginagawa. The urge is irresistible ... the more you fight it ... you find yourself losing in the end.

He has lost control of his discipline and relationships ... wala na siyang panahon sa kanyang pamilya. He has lost control of his inner self ... may sarili na siyang mundong ginagalawan. He lost control of his temper ... mainitin palagi ang kanyang ulo. He has lost control of his common sense ... hindi na niya alam ang importante at hindi. Palagi na lang siya ang tama at hindi niya mawari bakit hindi siya maintiendihan ng iba ... eh gusto lang niyang mag-enjoy and have a happy life. And worst palagi siyang may hinahanap - there's an unquenchable thirst inside him na uhaw at hindi napapawi ng kahit ano pa man. Isang void na kailangang punuan.

Sa kanyang pagka-untog ... muli siyang babangon at babalik ... kasi NIYAKAP niya ang kanyang pagkamali. I-welcome natin siya at YAKAPIN natin siya ulit. And this time ... I hope he has learned his lessons.

Hey guys ... listen. The statement in the image is our mystery word or statement. Medyo confusing ang pagkagawa. Para itong palaisipan, a puzzle of sort.

His intention is to confuse us (the readers) and if three of us have three different interpretations ... he will be clapping with his feet because he is successful with his play of words. All we need is to be careful ... take it slowly and make sure we don't fall prey to his charming wordplays.

A play on words (or wordplay) is a literary technique in which the writer takes advantage of the ambiguities of how the phrase is worded to produce new and surprising meanings. This clever use of language shows the speaker or writer's skill, grabs the audience's attention, and often has a humorous effect.

So what did it mean to you when you read the message above? Did you get the answer right away ... or did you break your head trying to figure it out. Did you think hindi sila nabasa kahit nagsisiksikan silang tatlo sa payong dahil:

a. Kumukulog at kidlat lang ... walang ulan, kaya walang basa

Was this pageant oddity just a coincidence ... or was it written in the stars? Or was this person a LUCKY CHARM to the Philippines? 

We are referring to Akisha Albert - a beauty queen from Curacao. A lucky charm is said to be something or someone that is thought to bring good luck and good fortune.

Consider these facts to prove our point. When she joined Miss Earth 2014, Jamie Herrell of the Philippines won.  When she joined Miss Hispano Americana 2017, she was first runner-up to Philippines Teresita Marquez who was declared the winner. And get this ... when she ventured into Miss Universe 2018, she was included in the Top Ten when Catriona Gray won the fourth Miss Universe crown for the Philippines.

If she was born February 8, 1995, she was 19 when she joined Miss Earth 2014, 22 at Miss Reina HispanoAmericana 2017, and 23 at Miss Universe 2018.

The latest we heard from the grapevine, the Curacaoan beauty was appointed Miss Grand Curacao 2024 at 29.

If she is indeed a lucky charm to the Philippines ... and if it is written in the stars ...will this be the golden opportunity for the Philippines to win the elusive Miss Grand International crown? Hope springs eternal - it is human nature always ... to find fresh cause for optimism.

Two or three years ago we heard that somebody was claiming he was a SELF APPOINTED SON OF GOD.

Recently the news has been percolating that another person is claiming the SELF APPOINTED DESIGNATED SURVIVOR.

Only in the Philippines!

Some Questions and Answers About Designated Survivor

1. What is a Designated Survivor?

A Designated Survivor to make it simple is a Designated Successor. In the United States of America, he is the government official in the presidential line of succession who keeps the distance from others when there is a special event like SONA or State of the Union Address or presidential inauguration. 

The reason for this is to guarantee and make certain that in case of a man-made catastrophe or natural calamity such as an earthquake ... someone can take over the presidency in the event of mass casualty.

2. What is the advantage and importance of a Designated Survivor?

The purpose of selecting a DS is similar in structure and form to a designated driver - to assure and ensure that all passengers arrive home safe and sound after a night out with alcohol.

In Designated Survivor however, the designation is intended to prevent the decapitation of the government ... and to safeguard continuity in the presidency ... if the president, the vice president, and others in the presidential line of succession die.

This is a contingency plan meant to safeguard the presidential line of succession.

3. What is the order of succession ... or line of succession?

The order of succession follows this pattern.

a. Vice President

b. Speaker of the House of Representatives

c. President Pro-Tempore of the Senate

d. Secretary of the State

4. Does the Philippines Have a Designated Survivor?

There is no such thing as a Designated Survivor in the Philippine Constitution ... therefore assigning yourself as DS is not rubber-stamped as true and correct. Mentioning the term matter-of-factly in an ambush interview is reckless and ill-advised.

It scares a lot of people ... and their thoughts can soar high thinking of all worst-case scenarios and possibilities.

5. Was it just a joke?

Some sympathizers dismissed it as a joke.  But some critics are very vocal that if it was a joke ... it reeks of petulance and pugnacity.

The question from the reporter was serious ... it requires a serious and intelligent answer. Being at the top of the political totem pole ... people of your stature demand respect from the people ... so how can you demand respect if your answers are just jokes ... and are answered depending on what moods you're in.  And people see ... you are not even serious about the political and legal ramifications that will result from your cavalier and condescending answers.

6. Was mentioning Designated Survivor a bomb joke?

I will let the pundits answer this one. But some quarters believe it is.

I know PD 1727 is a crime and pranksters can be imprisoned or fined.

7. Where does all this Designated Survivor nonsense come from?

Many people speculate that this Designated Survivor brouhaha stemmed from one's fantasy of the Netflix political thriller drama of the same title ... created as a TV series by David Guggenheim for ABC. And who would not dream of becoming a Kiefer Sutherland as DS who ascended from a lowly HUD Secretary to being the president of the land after an explosion that wiped out the whole cabinet?

The possibility of a big drama is there ... it requires the whole gamut of emotions and an actor worth his salt the possibilities are endless ... the situations can squeeze all your acting juices to give an outstanding performance: from an inept and naive leader-in-chief trying to unearth the veracity on the wake of the fiery blast.

I am not saying the government official wants to be an actor and wants to test showbiz waters. But it can be a fantasy (after watching a Netflix series) imagining you are the knight in shining armor wishing to be a hero at all costs to the Filipino people?
