What The Feast of Santo Nino Teaches Us

The Santo Nino feast is celebrated in major cities throughout the country - Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan, Tondo, Kabankalan, and Cagayan de Oro ... it is almost celebrated nationwide with each city having its own version of the festivities.

As Jesus pointed out, it reminds us to look up the qualities of being a child as a model to be included in the Kingdom of God. Clearly, Jesus was referring to qualities the child possesses which everyone should emulate and live ... to be worthy of the Kingdom.

Qualities like innocence, humility, and honesty. An attitude that is CHILDLIKE ... not CHILDISH.

It is an aide-memoire for us Christians that Jesus wants us to remain like children, (ninos and ninas) before the eyes of God. As we grow older, God wants us to imbibe that our values and demeanor should remain like a child - unadulterated, pure, and ingenue.
