Viewpoint and Mindset Comment: This is the first time historian Ambeth Ocampo experienced being targeted by vigilant troll snipers after he corrected and rebuffed junior actress Ella Cruz's history is like tsismis gaffe.
He was obviously distressed by sophomoric and absurd diatribes, things like "Gago Ka", or Tsinelasin kita, when he merely enriched and enlightened Ella and further educate her the difference between history and tsismis. What's wrong with that? Not unless they want this controversy to drumbeat the movie which is slated for release on August 3, 2022?
As you see after Ella, Ruffa (playing the role of Imelda) is also having some print and verbal fisticuff with Comelec Commissioner Rowena Guanzon. So who's next? Cesar Montano, Christine Reyes, Diego Loyzaga? Everybody needs to chip in to any controversy to add fuel to the already scorching media mileage Maid In Malacanang is getting.
I reviewed Ambet's rebuttal and so far I don't think there is something derogatory in his remark. Not unless a powerful person perhaps is orchestrating to fan the embers of controversy to maintain the heat of the moment. As they say, good or bad publicity is still a publicity. And the more people will talk about it, the producers are grinning wide to their ears as they sing a merry tinkling of dough, re mi to the nearest bank.
