Are The Stars Out Tonight? Pops Fernandez and Martin Nievera

Not everybody has a chance to brush elbows with the stars in the entertainment, modeling, and pageant industries so when the invitation starts knocking at my door ... who am I to refuse. Others may frown at it ... but it is irresistible. Well-meaning friends have given us the opportunity on a silver platter (it is like allowing us to get something easily ... without having to work on it) so when I saw the window ... in basketball lingo - an opening ... all I did was to dribble the ball ... do the lay-up and shoot it for the much-needed money shot.

I was going for a two-month vacation in the Philippines and I always make it a habit to use our homegrown sky carriers the Philippine Airlines. It was an auspicious evening ... it started very slow and lo and behold Martin Nievera and Pops Fernandez were with us on this flight in the first-class cabin. Little did I know, that something more beautiful is about to unfold.  When we reached Guam for refueling everybody had to step down and vacate the plane. I went to a coffee shop not realizing Pops and Martin were following. I did invite them in my table ... and Martin was just too gracious to oblige. Martin was down to earth while Pops was quiet the whole time. Can you imagine having a grand time with your idols over a cup of coffee? Martin was his usual bubbling self ... and the night became more meaningful when Martin invited me to his concert in Ultra. He was that makulit childish self ... so how could I say No?

 A local talent and model auditioning for ABS CBN  MTB - Magandang Tanhali Bayan in Mother Ignacia. MTB is a noontime show pre-Wowowee and It's Showtime. Being new in the industry, it was such a privilege how actor wannabees tried their damnest best to belong and be counted among the chosen few.

Year Ender Report 2019

 Who says 2019 was a lean year for the Philippines in pageantry? Why are so many fans invested only in Miss Universe, Miss World, Miss International, and Miss Earth when the Philippines showed also her pageantry muscles in minor pageants? Why this myopic kind of thinking? 

And to the uninformed, the Philippines fare in this year's contests better than any country combined. You will be the judge ... or shall we say let the record be the judge.

Meanwhile, The Pageant Crown Ranking still ranks the Philippines as the number one pageant powerhouse despite a not-so-good performance in the BIG 5. Philippines stronghold in the top spot is because of her performances in all major and minor pageants in the past four years.

Happy Anniversary Showtime . One thing is sure ... when October comes the first things that comes to mind is It’s Showtime's birthday. So the madlang people all eagerly await the hosts’ jaw breaking, intoxifying and "out of the box" production numbers as part of the grand performance competition, Magpasikat.

Year in and year out, we are privy to the most innovative, original even “buwis buhay” masterpieces that left us shocked, impressed and entertained. Of course, there could only be one winner each year—the exceptional group of hosts that stood out and raised the bar in mesmerizing the audience.

This year was no other. Magpasikat week opened with Ann and Amy on the lead. Anne Curtis to be exact had proven annually that she can perform death defying showcases that left us breathless. This year Bida Men contributed very much to the success of the group as they ignited the stage with aplomb. Jin Macapagal was awesome in his "wheel of fortune" stunt as he shared the limelight with Anne. Boy ... this man can dance. He was graceful, fluid and self assured.

I also saw Eris Aragoza, Thor Gomez, John Padilla, Miko Gallardo and Kristoff Garcia hanging for dear life in the wheel, providing a Cirque du Soleil ambiance. And the efforts of Bida Men Nathan Garcia, Jiro Custodio Wise Estabillo, Polo Laurel, JR Baring, Ron Macapagal, Johannes Rissler, Yuki Sakamoto, Jay Dizon, Dan Delgado and Mark Jason Evangelista cannot be ignored. Who could not just marvel at the intricately and a grandiously designed musical theater winning showcase that made this men bare and show more flesh and flash those abs? We are almost viewing a Las Vegas show!

Indeed Bida Men is a welcome addition to the growing Showtime family. Hashtags find themselves a group to compete with.
