More Ironies: Kaufman VS Kaufmann

The latest news: American author swarmed by Duterte supporters due to name mix-up.  Nicholas Kaufmann found himself in a strange position as supporters of former President Rodrigo Duterte sent him a deluge of messages.

Isn't it ironic na dahil sa kahibangan natin ... hindi na tayo marunong magbasa? Napagkamalan natin ang Nicholas Kaufman sa Nicholas Kaufmann? Take note of the spelling: Duterte's lawyer has one N in his surname, whereas the American author has a Double N.

Kung hindi mo kilala ang tao ... aba maghinay-hinay ka. Chances are you might be barking at the wrong tree. And you did!

The idiom "discretion is better of part of valor" means that it is often wiser to be cautious (and avoid unnecessary risks or danger) rather than acting rashly or bravely.

Hindi man lang ba pumasok sa isip nila na ay iba ang spelling ng pangalan. Baka maling tao ito. But that didn't stop them from the urge ... nay their compulsion of speaking in defense of Digong. Kahit maling tao ... basta naka-vent or release sila ng mga negative energies ... okey lang. Okey lang ... nga ba?

Nang pumunta sila sa social media ni Nicholas ... wala man lang bang palatandaan na ang Kaufmann na ito ay isang author -writer at hindi lawyer? Wala man lang fact checking?

Marami na ring photos ang lawyer ni Digong posted all over the internet. It is a mortal sin kung hindi pa nila ma-memorize ang hilatsa ng pagmumukhang yan ... to think na siya ang potential na mag-ahon sa kanilang Poon on the path to freedom?

Dapat nakaukit na sa kanilang isip ang mukhang yon ... utang na loob nila ang posibleng kalayaan ng Tatay nila. Tapos nakita nila ang mukha ng isang Kaufmann (yong author) ... aba eh hindi man lang nagduda kung tamang tao nga ang sinusulatan nila ng comments and reactions?

Trademark na talaga ng mga Dedeez ang magtapang-tapangan at magdunong-dunongan. Sugod ng sugod at walang inuurungan. 

Kung ikaw si Kaufmann ... I can't imagine how overwhelmed he was following the surge of messages he received. If that happens to you ... can you fathom your social media account being flooded with DDshi_? Can you imagine their gall ... their audacity, and their arrogance knocking at a stranger's door and flooding his account with BS?

Last March 21 ... he pinned a message saying: "People of the Philippines ... I AM NOT THE ICC LAWYER NICHOLAS KAUFMAN WHO IS REPRESENTING PRESIDENT DUTERTE! PLEASE STOP MESSAGING ME!”

He further added, "This is no ordinary April Fools' Day joke.

This is not the first time DDS supporters made this faux pas. According to reports, five years ago, they made the same mistake when they flooded a network with a large number of unsolicited postings and spammed a “DDS Confession” Facebook page. Just like the mix-up now - DDS stands for Daisy Dales Senior Secondary School in India.

I don't blame the owner of the site for reacting:  “For the love of whatever you guys worship—Please stop.”

Kaufmann is a HORROR, urban fantasy and adventure fiction author. He wrote a critically acclaimed piece called General Slocum’s Gold, for which he was nominated for the Bram Stoker Award.

After this DDS incident, he can now write a non-fiction HORROR story based on his first-hand experience with the Digong lovers.

One reactor commented, and I believe in every word he said: So what else is new? It's the same approach they used with the Qatar protest. Jumping the gun without even checking the laws on protest in that country.

They saw Kaufmann and assumed it was the same guy. A simple Google search would have told them he was an author, not a lawyer.  Is it too much work to use their brains a little? It's not rocket science.

The Two Faces of Harry Roque

It is not my habit to rub situations and statements uttered by our protagonists ... until their face turns red. Nor is it my nature to emphasize something negative or embarrassing often in a way that makes someone worse.

It is not my place to continually bring up in perpetuity unpleasant or embarrassing statements, reminding someone they were wrong

But isn't it ironic that the situation was right there staring at our faces, and we say nothing about it? We zip our mouths and eyes shut, hoping the irony will not nag us and will just fade into oblivion ... and finally evaporate in thin air.

That was the dilemma I had from the get-go. The situation is ripe for a dissenting commentary. What could be more liberating than venting and airing out pent-up emotions that were held back and suppressed for a long time? Also, information bottled up inside that was not expressed instead it was stifled ... wanting release.

When Harry Roque was in his prime (both as a congressman and presidential spokesperson), he didn't dance around or stall for time when he shared his mind.  He says what he thinks ... to hell with what others feel (para siyang lalaking Queen Of the media -taklesang-taklesa).

Being in power is intoxicating ... nakakalasing. He felt that being in position, the money and the influence that comes with it ... doesn't have expiration dates. 

How he worded his greeting to Leila de Lima is so vile and loathsome, he could not even afford parliamentary courtesy to a fellow senator... the very luxury they were asking now from the government aside from "due process".

In his time, he mocked and ridiculed DE LIMA like there was no tomorrow.  Now that the tables have turned, he is in a great DILEMMA.

Isn't it ironical - he is now tasting the sour taste of his own medicine? Karma had caught him off guard to give him time to realize what he had previously done... and rubbed it in his face until remorse and guilt come surging back.

Wather-weather lang yan. Mabilis magtampo si Lady Luck kapag masama ang ginagawa. Nakipagpalitan siya ng schedule kay Lady Karma para makompleto ang Divine Justice.

Can Senator de Lima return the favor and savor the moment of vindication by firing back?

It is highly unlikely. She is a class act all by herself. She will definitely not stoop to Harry's notoriety level!
