This is a compilation of homilies about our relationship with God. There are 5-6 vignettes of homilies ... so don't be surprised.  But all of the sub-homilies boil down to one thing - they tell us stories about our relationship with Jesus and the people around us ... and how we are connected to HIM.

Funny Signage

If you are a grammar police who usually gets irritated and cannot stand your penchant for the use of the fractured King's language ... incoherent sentence structure and semantics ... mind-boggling syntax and word coordination ... this nook is not for you. 

But traveling from Aparri to Jolo ... we encountered signage in the streets that managed to put a smile on our faces ... even though Robin Padilla's grandiose display of bad opinions ... or China's flexing his superpower muscle ... has riled up and angered our tender sensibilities.

We are here to celebrate (not mock) the little cracks and flaws in the manner we communicate ourselves. All of us make mistakes ... and at a time when a kilo of rice at 20 pesos is next to impossibility ... we need a little outlet to have a hearty laugh.

And no matter how over-use the cliche goes ... Laughter is indeed ... the best medicine.

 What a sale pitch ... and what a graphic invitation to convince someone to buy their goods.

The goal of a sales pitch is to catch a potential customer's attention and convince them to learn more.  But this one takes the cake of being sleazy and unsavory. Pitches can happen anywhere — via email, social media, or in person. 

A great sales pitch should pique the buyer's curiosity and convey clear value.

MUch Ado About Kristine Ordinario

Who is Kristine Ordinario in the Philippines? Is she a fashion designer where who's who in the pageant world and showbiz are going gaga about her creations?

I admit  ... when I saw Michelle Dee wearing it with Anntonia Porsild in tow ... my jaw dropped (the piece of clothing was too avant-garde... it was kind of innovative and experimental to my simplistic fashion sense ... but hey it looked good with Michelle Dee ... so no complaints there.

After one day ... what the hell! I saw Celeste Cortesi (Miss Universe Philippines 2022) with the same OOTD. Actress Kim Chiu followed suit. And as of today, another beauty queen Rikki Abuel de la Pena (Miss Universe Philippines Lucban) followed the bandwagon.

This was almost overkill ... and to tell you the truth it is alarming especially when we are deluged with photos in FB flaunting the same creation of the fashion designer.  When someone wears the same thing Michelle did ... the novelty is lost ... the newness and the uniqueness plummet to something like "ordinario" (no pun intended Kristine Ordinario.)

It is good Anntonia Porsild did not bother to ask Michelle: "Hey I saw three other ladies with the same outfit as yours." That is a disaster waiting to happen and maybe a "kiss of death" to the budding friendship of Pordee.

Now I understand why movie stars resent the idea that another movie star is wearing the same gown or tux especially when it is an awards night ... an  ABS CBN Ball ... or a GMA Gala.  They feel overshadowed and eclipsed when somebody wears an outfit with the same shade or hue ... the same cut, trimming, or nuances. 

Indeed ... imitation is the greatest form of flattery.  But in pageantry and showbiz ... copying someone, emulating someone, and taking a cue from someone is a big no-no ... whose meaning now resembles being RUDE, OFFENSIVE INAPPROPRIATE, and IMPOLITE.

Usapang Itlog

An occasional slip of the tongue ... or a slip of the pen is normal and is quickly forgiven by the person listening or reading... that is ... if they even notice it. Even when they do, most people most of the time will recognize a slip of the tongue or pen for what it is and realize that what you meant to say or write ... is not what you did say or write.

Narinig ko sa isang kaibigan:

Mae; Dilaw na dilaw talaga ang YOKE ng itlog!

Mar: YOKE talaga ha?  Hindi ba YOLK?
