What can you say about former Kapamilya artist Daryl Ong who claimed that protesting on the streets spreads COVID-19 after the nationwide rally held on the same day as President Rodrigo Duterte's  fifth State of the Nation Address?

The singer in an alleged Facebook post claimed that the government might impose enhance community quarantine, the strictest level of quarantine, after reports of Filipinos rallying for "SONAgkaisa” surfaced on Monday.

“Mukhang magE-ECQ nanaman daw?.. Ayos, rally pa more guys,” Ong allegedly wrote with a thumbs-up emoji.

Darryl this is an all time low for you, ang makipagsagotan sa mga critics mo. If you post something, don't expect that everybody will agree with you. Expect that somebody will dissent.

This is the culture in social media, especially if you come too strong in their estimate, vultures will come and devour you. That is also true if you are a celebrity, everybody loves hanging out with stars regardless of whether they are for or against you.

And you have to be careful with your choice of words because one pungent reply from you and you will see flies turning into maggots. I think you were just making pa"cute with your post and you were oblivious that you will attract more bad than good.

You blundered because you forgot you have a history with ABS CBN, and when you said "Rally pa more," you meant the rally in Mother Ignacia. And you conveniently forgot another mass gathering in Rizal Mem. Sports complex where more than 8 thousand Filipinos assembled c/o the government. If you have included this in your argument, you neutralize the gravity of your pronouncement. Not including it will be petulant and ill-natured to ABS & others.

After ABS CBN closure, it's about time DDS should celebrate and throw a boisterous and a raucous party to honor the 70 honorable house of representatives members who denied the franchise to the Kapamilya network. And what a better choice to celebrate than doing it in Mother Ignacia and Sgt. Esguerra Sts. & counter the noise barrage of the ABS camp? It's like hitting two birds with one stone But I guess the DDS can't. Aren't they called the INVISIBLE digital warriors of this govt? So how can they make a mass action without anybody noticing how many they are.

They're like COVID, the unseen enemy. No warm flesh, just wooden hearts & no sense of right & wrong. They are digitally programmed as robots- calloused conscience w/ no feelings of empathy & sympathy. They are veiled keyboard combatants with wooden hearts and vindictive fingers.

You seemed not in sync with the way Congressman Rodante Marcoleta handled the ABS CBN franchise renewal.  Have you tried visiting his FB accounts to see a glimpse of what he is really made of and what kind of person he is?

Response: 

I am not in a habit of snooping around somebody's personal accounts to see the goodness of his heart or the dirt he intentionally swept under the rug but following your suggestion, I chance to see Rodante Marcoleta's Facebook account to get more insights about him as his ABS franchise excursions trended & were hugging the limelight. His FB mantra to my surprise was that he was the Defender of Truth.

Nothing is wrong with that claim. I can almost see him in a Super Truth costume in the mold of Superman thrusting his sword off lies and falsehoods that comes his way. However, the holier than thou FB facade is a tall order. While he was relentless exposing ABS CBN- hearing after hearing, something was OFF when I browsed his page.

All comments were positive and everything seemed sanitized. Everybody was singing hosanna & hallelujah to his name almost in unison - the chorus part in a deafening crescendo. Does he have a problem with uninvited critics who dropped by to give him a piece of their mind? Were the comments screened, bleached, and or laundered to give an overwhelming 100% approval. It was so squeaky spotless it gave me goosebumps. If he did filter the comments how can he call himself Defender of the Truth, if he can't handle naysayers, the way he thrust jabs to ABS CBN? It is just so incredulous to know no ABS CBN supporter tried and pay him a visit.

Congress has been deaf and blind with the needs of the people, & with quarantine we were forced to stay at home at nakipagbuno ang mga tao sa isang nakakabinging katahimikan. Sa pandemiang ito makatarungan ba na pati ang only source of our entertainment ay ipagkait pa sa tao?

An Open Letter To Daryl Ong

Daryl I just want to let you know that the Filipino Community in California dig you and your music. Your voice soothes tired souls and we consider Budakhel as the best Pinoy boy group ever. And it pain us to know that you have severed ties with ABS CBN. AS TFC subscriber we are torn between the company and you.

TFC and ABS are our lifeline here in America and I guess other OFW's around the world share the same sentiment. ABS and TFC (and your music too) are our presciptions to boredom, depression, homesickness and coming home from work tired and weary. ABS entertainment is the complete analgesia that calms out frayed nerves and battered souls.

Regarding your situation, I think you made some faux pas or miscalculations in your action. Don't think that we are not on your side, but we will try to see your situation with ABS CBN as objective as we can be. Hindi dahil salungat sa expectations mo ang mga sasabihin namin ay hindi na kami panig sa iyo. Kailangan lang sasabihin namin ang katotohanan why ABS reacted the way they do, kabaliktaran sa kung ano ang inaasahan mo.

In the video, you almost have thank everybody and you acknowledged that ABS CBN made you and that they have helped you propel your star to where it is now. Having this premise in mind when somebody invited you to participate to sign the campaign to raise 1 Million signatures for the franchise renewal, you dilly-dallied. And you hesitated. Parang hindi ka willing. You said that ABS had helped you with your career, isn't this the right time to return the favor and be counted? No ifs and no buts ... no questions asked?

But the lawyer in you muddled your mind and gave you doubts, and you questioned whether the campaign will succeed knowing that the deadline was like a Damocles sword waiting to fall. Whether the campaign will succeed or not is immaterial Daryl. The question was will you help your mother studio or not?

The people sitting in the table with you hearing the content of your conversation for sure have questioned your loyalty and they secretly recorded the conversation and reported you. Kahit ikaw rin naman lalo na kung involved ang family mo sigurado magsusumbong din. It's human nature ang magsumbong lalo na kung mahal mo ang involved. And whoever was the person who banned you, ay hindi rin namin masisisi.

At this time when the whole company is fighting for his dear life, sinuman ang makarinig sa iyo for sure magtatampo ito. Sa isip nila, para ano pa ang pagtulong nila sa iyo kung wala naman silang maasahan sa iyo. As you said, ABS CBN helped you tremendously, di ba sana kinuha mo na lang ang pen and attach your signature showing the company your support?

Loyalty goes a long long way and "utang na loob" still reign supreme as one of our Filipino values. Kahit ang campaign ay "suntok sa buwan" at walang konkretong basehan na makatulong sa franchise renewal, the mere fact that you go out your way and show solidarity will leave an indelible impression that YOU are with them in this fight.

Then you pleaded na SANA PINAKINGGAN MAN LANG ANG SIDE NINYO. Sad... pero sa totoo lang ABS is in the eye of the storm, and he is almost gasping his last breath, so how can they listen to you when all they can think is its survival. That's too selfish in your part to think of yourself when you have not accorded the same courtesy when you were asked to sign.

And your you tube confession na wala na ikaw sa ABS CBN at ikaw ay na-ban is just adding salt to the wound. You have just added enough ammunition para gamitin ng mga kalaban ang kaso mo laban sa kompaniya na tumulong sa iyo. Nakita mo ang mga tirada nila ngayon? Sinasabi nila ngayon na how can ABS demand for press freedom when they have not given you the chance to explain yourself. Then there are others who said Illegal termination.

You see the SIMPLE becomes COMPLICATED ... and the complicated becomes CONVOLUTED ... and the plot thickens. Hindi na sana dumating sa puntong ganito kung sa umpisa pa lang noong inimbita ka to participate tumango ka na lang. Kung ayaw mo naman hindi ka naman pinipilit, pero there's always repercussions sa pagtanggi mo.

At sana naging handa ka at ang sarili mo kung ano ang kahihinatnan ng pagtanggi mo. Anything can happen ... at kita mo nagtampo sila sa iyo. What you sow, you reaped sabi nila. Sabi nga ng kaibigan ko, you brought this problem to yourself.

The timing of your confession was ill timed too, instead na makatulong ka lalo pang lumala. Instead na maunawaan ka nila ay mas lalong lumabo. Help is a two-way street. Gusto mong tulungan ka at unawain ka, then tumulong ka rin and be involved. Kung ayaw mo, that is your right, pero ang magdemand ka na unawain ka is just like asking for rain in a hot summer day. Like an old saying, "They scratched your back and you will scratch their back too" ... ika nga.

Ang advice namin sa iyo ay ito. You have been in the showbusiness for awhile where stars are treated like goldfish in the aquarium. You should know better ... lalo na sa kalakaran. What you do and what you say can easily be magnified in an instant. Pati paghinga mo nakikita ng tao. So be wary and cautious lalo na't may mga tao kang nakahalobilo na hindi mo kilala. Hindi mo alam yong mga taong ngayon mo lang nakilala ay siyang magtraydor sa iyo. And HE did in your case!

Sakali mang maibigay na in the future sa ABS CBN ang franchise nila, doon ka pumasok and ask for understanding. But forcing this issue at this time when everything is in chaos, is totally a waste of time and effort. Rest assured Daryl we will pray for you na sana mapatch din ito in the future. Huwag magmadali ... Ok?

Meanwhile convince Bugoy and Michael to make more outstanding collaborations. Don't dwell on what was. Dwell on what you and the group can do in the present. And also in the future.
