Netizen's Comment:
Listen, folks, if you have an opinion, you're a troll. So let's put this to rest, WE ARE ALL TROLLS!
You punish folks for being self-righteous and entitled, but here you are hovering on your soapbox calling people out.
Response:
I totally disagree with the premise that "if you have an opinion you are a troll."
Having an opinion and expressing an opinion are two different things. Much more with having an opinion and being a troll. The difference is the way and the manner you convey your message. In the case of Leni for instance, I can't imagine where these people get the audacity to call somebody who became a lawyer, a congressman, a vice president, and now a would-be president BOBA, when obviously he has not done anything in his professional life except staying away from school. Instead, they plant seeds of dissension and friction. As the saying goes, WALK THE TALK. If you TALK big, then you must really be somebody BIG. Not just some loose lips spewing words just to upset somebody.
Internet etiquette wants us to be respectful as well as nice. Trolls aren't very nice. They are expressing ideas that are either offensive or impolite. When you have an unpopular opinion, calling somebody BOBA, you have to be guarded and diplomatic and be ready to defend yourself how come you made that pronouncement. If you are just playing with words, then your business was just to pollute the internet waves and peddle lies and fake news.
Tactfulness is an art. I have effectively argued with a fellow netizen where we shared our differences and went away from the experience with great regard for the other person. Be respectful.
I am not being self-righteous and entitled or in the business of calling somebody out when I wrote this thread. But I know there is that thin line that separates decency from rudeness and civility from obscenity.
And we can't just put this to rest especially if you see somebody abusing their freedom to speak what's on their mind, even though the accusations are unfounded, baseless, and misleading.
By the way, Joseph Parisella has this to say about trolls. Trolls don't have opinions, they're sole purpose, the sole meaning for life is to irritate you. To disagree with you vehemently and wholeheartedly even if they happen to agree with you although their actual opinions are in fact irrelevant.
All they want is to piss you off. That is not the intent of a person who disagrees with you, they just view an issue differently from you and would like you to view the world the same way they do. Their methods may be flawed but ultimately their heart is more often than not in the right place.
Personally, I have a lot of friends who view the world differently from how I do. It doesn't stop us from being friends nor does it stop us from discussing/debating these issues but at the end of the day, we can respectfully agree to disagree.
We don't hate each other or try to cause harm, we just happen to view the world a little differently.
