PHRASE: Ad cautelam ex superabundanti

MEANING: It is often used in legal contexts by the accused to indicate that extra precautions are being taken to ensure something is done correctly or to avoid any potential problems in the future. 

"Ad cautelam" is a legal term typically used in court filings, meaning they are taking action "out of abundant caution" or "just to play safe." It indicates that the person rebuked or impugned is taking a certain action, such as filing an answer, not because they believe it's strictly necessary, but to avoid any potential disadvantage or waiver of rights later in the case. In short, they are covering all bases. 

Think of it as a preventative measure. For example, suppose a party is unsure whether a particular legal argument is necessary. In that case, they might raise it "ad cautelam" to ensure it's preserved for consideration by the court, even if they don't strongly believe in its validity at that stage. 

EXAMPLE: Vice President Sara Duterte submitted an Answer Ad Cautelam, saying the impeachment case against her should be dismissed for "violating the one-year bar rule" of the 1987 Constitution. 

The 16 lawyers of VP Inday also made an Appearance Ad Cautelam.  It is a legal maneuver where Inday and her lawyers appear in a case, not to admit guilt or liability but to protect their interests and ensure they are kept informed of the proceedings that might affect them. 

It is a precautionary measure allowing participation without formally joining the case.

Calling Out

Calling someone out means confronting or challenging someone about their behavior, statements, or actions, often in public, on social media, or in person. This can involve pointing out a wrongdoing, a hypocrisy, or a lack of accountability.

This is what the impeachment of the VP is all about. Calling her out of her SINS OF OMISSION and SINS OF COMMISSION.

 Calling the VP out just means calling her and her senator-cohorts out on their bullshit. When people keep silent, you are allowing them and the mistake to continue,

When the madlang people let them know how they feel about their behavior, and tell them they're disappointed you're bringing a subject to their attention, so it's hopefully corrected and not repeated again.

When something is not right, people must let the VP or her army of trolls know an error was made.. If the news they are spreading (like the First Lady getting implicated in Tantoco's mysterious death in California), they should rectify the news and separate the facts from fiction.

News and lies have wings, and if the juicy tidbits are peddled with the intent to destroy & humiliate, then holy guacamole, the sources needed the strongest reprimand, perhaps a lawsuit, maybe is in order. Hello, fake news vendors and lie- mongers!

Kung nagbingi-bingihan lang tayo sa mga ganitong shady characters, and we let their underground warfare and movements pass like they are inoffensive and harmless, this wrongdoing will continue and persist kung wala tayong ginagawa to deter and dissuade them. Hahaba talaga ang sungay nila at mga buntot.

Tama na ang pa-martir na mga attitude. For isn't it ang mga martir ay binabaril lang sa Luneta? Tigilan na kasi ang panonood ninyo ng mga lachrymose soap opera sa prime time bida. Kita ninyo ... napagkamalan tayong weak.

Huwag tayong magpabugbog like si Da King. Pagkatapos nating mabugbog ... namaga na yong mga mata natin at hindi  na makakita at makagalaw. Paano na tayo maka-resbak ... aber?

Enough of those "api-apihan" ideology and psychology. We look ridiculous in that get-up.

At magtigil na sa "kung pinukol ka ng bato ... batohin mo ng tinapay" mindset. In the first place ... walang tinapay ... so ano na? Wala nang gagawin and we allowed ourselves the proverbial punching bag? Aba ... Mamatay na tayo ... kailangan pa ba nating magpatapak?

Naiinis na ang marami ... at nayayamot!

Reacting To Some Reactions

Atty Ruth Castelo (Inday Sara's spokesperson) said without BATTING AN EYELASH (meaning WITHOUT BLINKING, tonta): "Dismissing VP Sara's impeachment could save millions in public funds."

Talaga lang? Gusto mong makatipid ... or gusto mo lang makaiwas ang amo mo sa impeachment trial? How self-serving.

Huwag mo ngang bilogin and ulo namin Atty. Laywer? Hindi po kami member ng DDS na hindi na nagiisip at kaya mong paikotin sa iyong palad.

Hindi na makatiis si Heidi Mendoza, WITHOUT FLINCHING sinagot ng former COA Commissioner ang viral na suggestion.

"Tama naman. 

Sana po isipin ninyo rin ninyo na malaki rin ang matitipid kung hindi madalas magtravel (biruin mo ginawang Divisoria ni Inday and the Hague Netherlands, Hongkong at Australia and next month South Korea naman) ... kung wala ng spokesperson (pinaparinggan ba ang spokesperson na si Atty Ruth Castelo)... kung wala ng mga trolls (malaki din ang bayad kay Maharlika and her ilk ...di ba?)

Ang laking savings nun ... kaya lang di ko alam kung subject to tax yan."

Lakas talaga ng sense of humor ni senadora. At very simple at practical at mas matipid ang kanyang mga mungkahi para maka-save.

Kaya aabangan namin ang iyong pagbabalik sa Senado sa 2028.

Napanis Na Katotohanan

May magandang suggestion ang isang tambay para matapos na ang bangayan ng dalawang kampo.

Sa part ni BBM magpa-drug test ulit (kahit ilang beses na niyang ginawa ito) at gagawin ito sa Quirino Grandstand covered by all TV networks and the DDS hierarchy in full attendance ... at nang magkaalaman na. Kung negative siya ulit ... exonerated siya at vindicated.

Ipaliwanag niya rin kung bangag ba siya or lutang ... sabi ng nasabing tambay maganda siguro magkaroon sila ng one on one debate para once and for all malaman na ng lahat kung sino ay may malawak na kaalaman sa mga problema ng bayan at ano ang mga solusyon na kanilang isulong.

Dito rin natin masubokan who is the better speaker ... yon bang hindi naman mapahiya ang Pinas iharap man siya sa kung sinong political at legal luminaries sa ibang bansa.

Yan kasi ang problema noong last presidential election ... kasi hinahayaan nating mabudol tayo by allowing them to dodge the presidential or vice presidential debates ... na parang may tinatago at baka maaninag natin ang kanilang kahinaan at maturn-off ang mga madlang people.

Tingnan ninyo llamadong llamado na ang kanilang panalo (Kaway lang ng kaway, and maghagis ng T-shirts here and there) nanalo na ... at hindi man lang natin nasampolan kung anong utak meron sila ... ano ang kanilang mga endearing qualities at anong mga values ang pwede nating tularan.

Para fair ang laban dalawang importanteng bagay lang ang sasagotin ni Inday Sara.

Una ... sagotin na niya kung ano ang ginawa niya sa confidential funds niya. Kapag sinagot niya ... e di tapos na ang mga intriga. At para na ring nabunutan siya ng "TINIK" sa dibdib.

Second ... magpirma na sila sa bank waiver. Totoo ba yong mga allegations ni Sen Trillanes ... at kung hindi ito totoo, bakit wala silang ginagawa to straighten him out.

Silence means YES ... at kung wala silang ginagawa para maituwid ang mga maling hakahaka ... aba baka naman totoo. As simple as that.

Aba ... kapag mangyari ito "HIGH" ba or nasa "CLOUD NINE" tayong lahat at sa wakas ang mga napanis ng mga katotohanan ... at may lumot nang mga kasinungalingan na sana noon pa inilabas is finally out in the open!?

A millionaire at 20. First Car at 21. A dream house at 22. That's a tall order... a friend commented.

DEAD-ENDS at DEADLINES?

The accompanying image below (please read it all) asked a fundamental question: Who made these rules? And who the hell imposed these deadlines?

Deadlines in life are often self-imposed. We set DUE DATES ... a TIME FRAME ... TIME LIMITS ... TARGET DATES and CUT-OFF TIME in everything we do. We set personal deadlines to manage our time, stay organized, and achieve goals.

Other deadlines are imposed by our employers (this project comes hell or high water needs to be completed tomorrow), clients (the items I ordered have to arrive next week), our peers (all our classmates are working abroad ... apply ka na), and society (pakasal ka na ... nahuhuli ka na biyahe).

While the arguments and the points on the image are true and acceptable ... let me be the devil's advocate to point out the other side of the coin ... that setting deadlines also has its plus points.

Consider this. Deadlines are putting your planning into action. Without deadlines, a person can procrastinate (it's manana habit dummy) forever.

Without deadlines, work and assignments are not completed on time ... and projects don't hit their due dates. If you don't set deadlines ... there is a possibility that you are oblivious of how much time is available to achieve them.

Deadlines motivate people to achieve their goals. It gives them the incentive to get it done on time. Without a clear-cut set date ... it will take longer than it should. Which means spending more money ... and more days wasted.

Deadlines create psychological push by imposing some sense of urgency (a feeling that a task needs immediate attention and prompt action).

This urgency can be a powerful motivator, pushing individuals and teams to focus and prioritize their tasks.

The pressure of an approaching deadline often leads to increased “doing” and a sense of accomplishment once achieved.

Another melodrama is looming and emerging... and even the journey of Kiko Pangilinan and Bam Aquino in the Senate was not spared, as it has its own twists and turns. 

Ayaw ba nila magpatalo sa convoluted storyline ni Inday Sara in her impeachment trek? Masaya yata ang lahat, kung toast of the town at pinagusapan sila ... at laman ng mga diyaryo at social media.

The persistent talk about two true-blue comebacking potential minority members who were newly reelected  ... and will give Risa  Hontiveros a boost in terms of moral support, company, and a shoulder to cry on ... in the jungle walls of the Senate ... made its dramatic turn ... and was nipped in the bud.

After a grueling campaign season, where Sen. Risa spent a lot of her waking hours campaigning for the two, the effort paid off, giving his friends the second and the fifth spots in a highly contested Senate race. 

Well, after some triumphant celebration ... reality showed its ugly face, and it looked like there was no fairy-tale "and-they-live-happily-ever-after scenario" in the Senate coming soon.

The much-touted troika opposition leadership waiting to make its presence felt ... were just a byproduct of Dilawan's fertile imagination, ... and the happy ending everyone expected in this Senate fantasy ... is a fluke and remained a fantasy.

The minority bloc world came tumbling down after the alleged ka-kosa or ka-tropa had their neck craned to other lucrative possibilities - where the grass is greener ... and the honey is much sweeter.

If rumors are true, they were promised a lot of perks, benefits, and additional gravy and bonuses, including chairmanship in Senate important committees. Dahil lang doon nagiging marupok na sila, and readily jump ship to join the Escudero group?

Huwag sana makalimutan ni Aquino at Pangilinan why voters catapulted them to become the second and fifth Senate topnotchers in the last election. They were voted to become a robust opposition fiscalizers... and joining the Escudero bandwagon is just like kowtowing and waving the white flag. Not even honoring friendship or the voters who made their win happen.

Nasaan na ba ang utang na loob? Pagkatapos manalo pati panindigan nawala rin? The two have to remember the Gen Z and millineal group came in grooves to put them on the top. They will surely be disenchanted and disillusioned na ang ibinoto nila ay madali palang makalimot/

Whatever gains they had in the last election, they should be consolidated and not squandered by making kanya-kanya moves. To each his own? That won't work. 

Tingnan mo ang mga Duterte senators nagtatag-team sila ... and working in a cohesive riding in tandem fashion. Simply put, they are a picture of the IZED battalion - harmonized, synchronized, organized, synthesized, and systematized fighting machines.

Risa H. was obviously disheartened ... but she didn't show it. The fact of the matter she made a resolve to continue the fight even if it means she and she alone will arm-wrestle the formidable Duterte Seven.

The Kakampinks and the Dilawans were disappointed too. Isang verdaderong rah-rah girls wished na sana tsismis lang ito and hope na mahimasmasan ang dalawa when the senators vote who's who in the Senate presidency.

What's In A Name?

What's in a name? Ayan bidang-bida diyan ang Alabang. Kung sino man nakaisip ng pakulong ito deserves a pat in the shoulder.

Nagamit na ang catchphrase na yan sa time ng Power Boys (see the TV Commercial below) that includes Jordan Herrera, Frank Garcia, Geoff Rodriguez, Greg Martin, and Jay Salas in MTB (Magandang Tanghali Bayan) in 2000.

The group used to be called the Rexona Boys, and had made "Wala ba kayong kamay?" a buzzword (viral was not used then), but then they failed to tie that up with Alabang. A more enterprising boy group manager could have made that the gimmick tagline for the budding singing group.

What the heck ... ALABANG kayong kamay? Better late than never.
