The Battle of Prime Time

IT looked like GMA had not found the right formula to nullify the Batang Quiapo magic and what we saw was an exercise in futility ... a series of full-blown promises of potential successes ... disintegrating into big-time failures. 

I hear you ... they were not total failures... okay I admit ... but it did not make a dent in BQ's ratings ... let alone the ads that are flooding its doorsteps.

Look at the pretenders to the throne: Lihim Ni Orduja, Voltes V,  Maging Sino Ka Man, Maria Clara and Ibarra, Black Rider, Pulang Araw, Batang Riles, and now Lolong.

And Coco Martin ... the brains behind BQ ... has never run out of ploys and gimmicks - and its eye-catching publicity stunts and schemes reek of novelty ... it looked like when heaven was inundating Pinoy TV with ideas ... ABS CBN was waiting with both hands wide open.

So what is this we hear that the reason why major stars die in the set on a weekly basis ... was that with the opening of Batang Riles and Lolong ... BQ's head honcho planned to have a complete revamp of the cast to counter the enticing allure of the new GMA shows.

The way I saw it, GMA underestimated BQ and was confident in fielding a bevy of young neophytes to arm wrestle with Coco. To begin with "ano nga ba ang mawawala sa kanila kung matalo man sila ... eh mga baguhan ang mga BR cast. At kung manalo sila e di WOW. 

But as expected BQ remained intact despite the blows left and right ... it reigned supreme.

There was a nervous mood in Kamuning and one could feel they were trembling in their boots. This prompted the last-minute "balasahan". GMA sensing Batang Riles falls short and is dwarfed by Batang Quiapo ... finally made its bold move again and commissioned "dambuhalang" Lolong to swap time slots to avoid more embarrassments and more"black eyes".

Kung DAMBUHALA ang Lolong ... mas lalong HIGANTE ang pasabog ng BQ - aba nag-leak na ang list ng mga bagong cast ... at hindi lang ito cast ha ... star studded talaga.

Aba mantakin mo ba naman ang listahan: Jake Cuenca, Andrea Brilliantes, Angel Aquino, Gelian Vicencio, Sharmaine Buencamino, Paolo Paraiso, Albie Casino, Celia Rodriguez, Michael de Mesa and Albert Martinez.

What else can Pinoy TV watchers ask for sa smorgasbord cast na yan?

A Slip Of The Mind

Is this another classic case of a slip of the mind? A lapse in memory ... an oversight ..., a mental lapse ..., a brain freeze, or just plainly the person has blanked out? Or the people behind this are just too unobservant... inept ... or disregardful of any important details?

These are big sins of OMISSION and COMMISSION if you were to ask me. How can you make this type of mistake ... CJ Opiaza is your invited guest ... and then the image in the tarpaulin is Rachel Gupta? I don't blame CJ at all ... if she got offended ... and I will not question her decision ... at biglang nagkatoyo siya ... and she decided to walk out.

You can blame many people here starting from the organization that invited CJ. Isama mo pa ang gumawa ng tarpaulin. Wala man lang well-meaning friends sila ... na may tapang ... at wala man lang may initiative na nagsabi ... hindi naman si CJ yong sa picture?

Wala bang proof -reading na nangyari ... at confident sila sa kanilang pinaggawa? 

Proofreading is the act of reviewing and fixing errors within the final draft of your writing to make sure the grammar, spelling, and punctuation are correct and accurate.

Kung inalagaan mo ang accuracy sa mga sinulat mo ... lalo na siguro ang mga images na kalakip nito.

Any organizer worth her salt ... should know that!

Tale of Two Aces

Aces are the highest-ranking card, even higher than kings. A standard deck of cards has four aces, each with a different suit (heart, diamond, spade, or club). 

In local politics, the heat is on. The current and the ex-president had been playing "PUSOY" and had aces tucked in their sleeves... and both were holding them like they were their lucky charm.

a, Galit na galit si Tanggol. Ang eksenang papatayin ni Tanggol si Rigor ay isang "mirage" or guniguni lang.

b. Binaril nga niya pero dinala sa hospital at buhay pa.

c. Ang eksena ay isang panaginip/bangungot lang.

d. Illusion lang ito ... basta na lang nawala nang ginising siya.

e. Binaril nga si Rigor at ito ay namatay.

Don't let others DEFINE you ... and don't let their words CONFINE you.

You are in charge of your life ... and you are at the helm. Do whatever you want to do with confidence and trust ... because there is no limit to what you can accomplish.

Double Entendre

"Kung ang PAPEL ay DINIDILAAN ko ... ikaw pa kaya?"

"May malaking PAPEL ka sa buhay ko ... basta ... malaking BAHAGI ka (if I don't acknowledge it ... it would be an injustice)".

This is a Double Entendre, meaning the statements have double meanings. It is a word or phrase open to two interpretations ... one is usually risque or indecent.

Is double entendre good or bad?
