I am sharing this video interview with Joaquin Domagoso, the son of Mayor Isko Moreno.  He has his own growing pains like any other teenager ... see his relationship with his father ... and how that opens his eyes to the harsh realities of life.  Watch the video ... I know many children can relate to his stories.

Self Doubt

Had there been a time in your life when you thought you had to do something important ... but you backed off because you thought you couldn't... or you thought dealing with it was expensive ... or time-consuming? 

Perhaps you want to finish college ... and you ask yourself: "How can I do it ... I am already a father of two ... I don't have time for these pursuits ... and I am not really sure if I can stomach what my young classmates will say seeing a middle age man in a university class uniform.

Perhaps you want to try and lose weight ... as this has been your perennial promise to yourself every New Year's Eve... And just like the previous years ... your New Year's resolution ends up crumbling down to fragments... because you hate treadmills... and you despise starving yourself ... just because you want to lose unwanted pounds. 

As the image shows above ... wanting to do something of this magnitude is an uphill climb. You feel strongly about dieting and losing weight ... but for some strange reason ... you're doubting yourself if you have 100%  full trust ... if you can make the significant initial stride ... you can make the first move.

The trick is ... from the ghastly "I can't ..." you can go a notch higher when you are willing at least to try.  It is a slow-paced process but when the motivation is great and you say "I might ...: or "I will ...:" and just like any other divine plans ... before you know it... your attitude has been upgraded to "I am".  All you need is a gentle push ... until you reach the top  as you say: "I DID IT!"

Indeed it is a tedious process.   But one thing is sure ... once your left foot makes the initial step ... the right foot follows.

Then and Now

THEN: Ang magnanakaw ... galit sa kapwa magnanakaw.

NOW: Ang magnanakaw ... sama-sama kung sila ay magnakaw.

THEN: The family that PRAY together ... STAY together.

NOW: The family that STEAL together .... STAY in jail forever.

THEN: Mabuti pa ang ASO marunong kumilala ng magnanakaw.

NOW: Mabuti pa ang mga MAGNANAKAW marunong kumilala ng kapawa magnanakaw.

Ang Magnanakaw Ay Galit Sa Kapwa Magnanakaw

 

In our previous post ... pinag-usapan natin na ang mga magnanakaw ... ang mga nangungutang ... ang mga sinungaling at mga tsismosa ay kaya din pala nilang nagagalit kung sila ang ginagawan ng mga bagay where they excel best. If you ask me ... the best adjective na maidescribe ko sa  kanila ay mas sensitive oa sila. Magnanakaw galit sa kapwa magnanakaw ... tsismosa galit ... kung sila ang subject ng tsismis ... ang mga nangungutang kung sila ang uutangan etc etc.

Meron talagang kasabihan sa Tagalog na ang magnanakaw ay galit sa kapwa magnanakaw. Narinig ko ang narrative na yan sa mga teleserye - matalinhaga ito  and should not be taken and  interpreted in its literal meaning - line by line ... word for word. 

Ang pinupunto lang nito is plain and simple: na hindi acceptable sa isang magnanakaw na masapawan sila at maisahan ng isa pang novice at Johnny-come-lately na magnanakaw at mas malaki pa ang kanilang take-home-money sa kanilang operasyon ikumpara sa kanila.  It all boils down to "inggit" and jealousy ... not necessarily total hatred and anger.  

Pero there are exception ... iba din ang sitwasyon kung ang mga ninakaw nila ... ay ninakaw din sa kanya. Di ba nakakawindang yon? Isang insulto ito sa kanilang kakayahan ... at sa kanilang kapasidad. Hindi ako magtaka kung bakit magagalit ang ninakawan.  Imagine pera na ... naging bato pa?

In the same vein ... enjoy na enjoy sa buhay nila ang mga mangungutang.  All they have to do is develop that skill bilang persuasive na mangungutang ... yon bang kaya nilang ibudol at kumbinsihing utangan ang isang well known kuripot ng bayan. Ang motto nila: "Walang matimtimang birhin sa isang matiyagang nananalangin." No retreat ... no surrender sila. Patience is the key... kung baga. Yon bang pwede siyang pumalya ngayon  ... at dahil may pasensiya talaga ...  pwede ulit bumalik kinabukasan hanggang nakautang na nga.

Bakit ba sila galit sa kapwa nangungutang? Sino ba ang hindi? Ang perang inutang niya ... ipapahiram lang niya? It doesn't make sense ... ano siya hilo?

Ang mga tsismosa naman ... twenty four/seven lang naman ang operasyon. Pag-gising nila sa umaga ... kape na nila ang maghanap ng latest ... at ng mga scoop. Ang makahagap ng latest gossip ang parang gasolina nila ... the whole exercise is so addicting ... hindi kompleto ang araw nila kung walang mga expose' at inside stories. Mas malala at eksaheradong scandal at hearsays ... mas maganda.

Pwede ba silang magalit kung itsismis mo na tsismosa sila? Hindi naman siguro ... aminado naman ang mga iyan ... sa kung ano ang mga  pinaggagawa nila sa kanilang paboritong pastime.

Pero subukan mong itsismis ang isang Marites na siya ang nagnakaw at nangutang at nagsinungaling ... ibang usapan na iyan. Talagang maghalo ang balat sa tinalupan. Depensa nila: "Below the belt na ang tsismis na yan.  It is immoral ... unethical ... and a two-faced act. At ang battlecry nila: This derogatory piece of news is a direct assault to my good name and my public standing."

Eh bakit kung sila ang maglubid ng tsismis ... wagas? At walang silang sini-sino ha ... at walang silang pakialam kung may nasira silang pangalan. 

Bakit hindi nila naisip na imoral ito ... unethical ... and a two faced act?  Bakit hindi nila naisip na ang piece of gossip nila is a direct assault on the person's reputation ... and a way to besmirch his name.

Nakakahiya ... pero totoo.
