OVP Budget Hearring,

I just want to react to this post.

Pagkatapos tayong purgahin ng mga scoop at inside stories sa YouTube regarding the OVP budget hearings ... and then binondat tayo ng blow by blow account sa pag-ALICE ni Alice Guo ... tapos sa West Philippine Sea ginawa na yatang panata ng mga tsekwa ang mambomba ... pagbukas mo ng computer si Cassandra Li Ong at Pastor Quiboloy naman ang paboritong pulutan. Wait humahabol pa si Harry Roque. Ad nauseam.

And if that is not enough ... nakakarindi na rin ang mga mga poltical memes sa anumang social media platform ... bulag na lang at bingi ang walang ALAM at walang paki-ALAM.

Kung wala kang reaction at chill ka pa rin and you don't care how government squanders and misuse the people's money ... if you are reacting matter-of-factly sa pag-island hopping ni Alice at Cassandra in their way to freedom ... and if you are emotionally ambivalent ... na instead of supporting the police in their quest to dredge up the fugitive ... you give them a thumbs down ... something is really wrong. IN YOU!

Politcal Memes and Editorials

A political meme is a purposefully designed visual framing of a position. Memes are a new brand and fashion of political messages, campaigns, and advertising. It is a new way of communication ... a joke or humor understood only by a particular group of people.   They are inside jokes or private jokes and has the ability to trigger an emotional reaction.

Memes work politically if they go viral when shared on any social media platform ... and if they help foster and nurture affinity, attachment, and a sense of belonging to a political party, circle or  “in-group” and if they make a strong and riveting statement about a public figure or political issue.

Memes can spread rapidly online and into popular culture due to their shareability — they are easily created, consumed, altered, and disseminated. They can quickly communicate the creator’s stance on the subject. The stronger the emotional response provoked by a post, the greater the intent to spread it.

On the other hand, editorials are magazine or newspaper articles that cater to the publisher or the editor's opinions and points of view. It is usually accompanied by political caricatures or cartoons that are related to what the editor says.

Like political memes, it is meant to influence public opinion and encourage and stimulate analytical and judicious critical thinking that sometimes makes its readers take action on an issue. At its core, an editorial is an opinionated news story delivered in professionally.

It usually addresses and covers the most pressing issues of the day, viral political developments, and attempts to devise and hatch new perspectives and viewpoints based on non-partisan and unbiased scrutiny of facts on hand vis a vis some other contradicting opinions.

An editorial is predominantly about balance just like Fox News adopting a motto "Fair and Balanced" network. But on some cases, editorials were meant to stir things up, when such is the need.

Usapang Ngongo

This is cringy.  Others called it corny.  Whatever it is ... this blog (Viewpoints and Mindset) will stoop down its level and accommodate a meme ... that is sickening ... trite and mawkish ... nevertheless, it manages to put a smile on our faces. And that is what matters.

*FORGIVE AGAD!* GANON NGA BA KA-SIMPLE? | Fr. Joseph Fidel Roura

Are You Doing Too MUch For Your Son or Daughter?

Scary but true. There's a lot of this set-up na kahit matanda na ang ating mga anak ay ina-akay pa rin ng kanilang magulang ang kanilang anak sa kanilang pagtanda.

Nagyayari ito dahil sa sobrang pagmamahal ... naging over-protective ang parents to the point na hindi madapuan ng lamok or langaw ang bata. You want them safe ... stay healthy ... and successful kaya hindi nakapagtataka when you allowed yourself to be central caregiver - controlling, repressive and restrictive.

Kung hindi na makagalaw ang bata (either by excessive shielding or restriction) to the point of suffocation ... the child has the potential to be thrown off balance internally ... and psychologically. If parents are anxious that something will happen to their child ... consequently they limit their child's autonomy by forbidding them to do things their peer group normally does.

In the anal stage when the struggle of the child is autonomy vs self-doubt ...even at a young age ... the child is aware "na may nag-uumpugang bato" battling inside.  He ask himself these questions: "Can I do things for myself ... or will I continue being reliant and dependent on my parents?"

If this is the kind of parenting setup in the house, parents unknowingly create a child unprepared to deal with what life may throw their way.

Parents who have done "a little too much" (either parental control or parental involvement) do not want them to grow and be independent. They don't allow their children the opportunity to develop flexibility and resilience in times of life's challenges. These children were not allowed the freedom to manipulate their environment and test their problem-solving skills. The parents do it all for them.

Children brought this way when they become adults are hesitant and tentative and they can't decide for themselves. More often than not they have poor coping skills and defense mechanisms ... they are prone to anxiety and depression and have a poor tolerance to stress.

They are accustomed to having parents who make it their habit to clean up the messes they create. They are FUTILE and INUTIL to face minor setbacks and trials.

Ask yourself: Is over-protective and controlling good?

Look at the image in this post. Babying an adult kid, when you have reached your retirement is bordering on abnormal.

Doing a little too much in your children's lives can make them very dependent on you. When they become adults they will seek your help. And don't be surprised... if they give you frequent visits ... or they will call you for simple things that you expect they could solve by themselves.

They will rely on you ... count on you ... and lean on you. Blame yourself if their being dependent will extend even to their finances ... or paying bills ... or being unable to decide for themselves.
