What is a self-fulfilling prophecy?
A self-fulfilling prophecy is defined as a situation or an incident that becomes a reality ... because you believe, expect, and say it will come sooner than you think.
It is a feared situation where one anticipates, awaits, looks forward to, predicts, and expects with confidence to become our own self-fulfilling prophecy.
When we started our restaurant business ... at the back of our minds we had this nagging question: "This town is a sleepy place in the middle of nowhere ... where everything is quiet and without much activity or excitement. Will a restaurant business survive in this sleepy burg ... where if one puts up a food business everybody follows suit (lahat na lang ng tao negosyante) ... making a dog-eats-dog society where competition is stifling? Matira ang matibay!
We were right with our gut feeling. After a year we closed shop. The town is not ready for a bigger restaurant ... a classy food ... and Class C and D clientele hesitates to enter the hub for fear that it might not suit their budget ... or they don't feel they belong.
In the image above ... it is a sunny day all right... but when one expects it will rain ... that becomes his self-fulfilling prophecy.
