Netizen's Comment: Is the greeting of the Vice President to Kim Chiu making a mountain out of a molehill?
Response:
When someone says a word, especially the Vice President of the Philippines, social media jumps at it like it is the most important issue of the day. Even regular netizen, who has never finished college and has not proven anything in their lives, become instant self-proclaimed critics ... they become the judge, the jury, and the executioner. Imagine scrutinizing the VP's choice of words ... what an honor to share the limelight with the soon-to-be President ... they become in a jiffy instant linguist or expert on the English language.
They are nothing short of social media trolls on the prowl. All these trolls want is to inflict pain, ridicule, and humiliate the targeted person. And when nobody fires back, these little internet misfits will wreak havoc and will smear Leni and tarnish her brand, reducing her reputation as a bungling public official groping for the right words to say.
They are the specie of the worst kind who will intentionally confuse or infuriate anybody online by saying demagogic and inflammatory pronouncements. They live (or in this case) being paid to make people irk and enrage.
They attack the VP's character, spew vile and venom, confused her followers, and more often than not they appeal to people's emotions rather than their intellect.
These digital morons don't actually subscribe to what they spit online. But they said it anyway, just to piss off the fans of Ma'am Leni.
These online devils lurk in the dark depths of blogs, Twitter, Facebook, discussion forums, and youtube chatrooms. They are not on social media to seek the truth, nor they will abide by internet etiquette. And they will not stop commenting until they dropped or canceled or some divine intervention forced their fingers to freeze while typing.
There are several ways to spot a troll
1. Their main concern is to upset you.
2. They feel so entitled ... the designated commenter ... and heaven-sent.
3. They use hyperbolic words and they tend to exaggerate. Utilizing extremes and superlatives surely provokes people into anger.
4. Trolls make a healthy discussion become personal. Name-calling is their specialty and they make it a point to side sweep their target's character.
5. Trolls usually are grammar morons. They can't spell and they usually mess up with phrases that sound the same like:
a. Homonyms are two or more words that have the same sound or spelling but differ in meaning.
b. Homophones—which means "same sounds" in Latin—are two or more words, such as knew and new or meat and meet, that are pronounced the same but differ in meaning, origin, and often spelling.
c. Homographs, meanwhile, are words that have the same spelling but differ in origin, meaning, and sometimes pronunciation, such as the verb bear (to carry or endure) and the noun bear (the animal with a shaggy coat).
So this controversy is all about a troll wanting short-span fame with the Vice President. Let us give her or him an E for effort for obviously trying to be relevant but falling short in his/her attempt.
