Kaya Pala

Filipinos wonder ... if the Discaya flood control projects in Cebu survived the SHOCK ... the foreSHOCK ... and the afterSHOCK brought about by seismic TREMORS of the recent TEMBLOR that ROCKED Cebu to the tune of magnitude 6.9 on the Richter scale.

No need to worry, daw mga kapatid ... walang pinsala man lang. GHOST projects kasi ... matitibag mo ba ang GUNIGUNI at KUNI-KUNING projects ... aber?

Ang sasalungat ... berdaderong DDS talaga. Diehard Discaya Supporter.

I Remember Senator Miriam Defensor Santiago

The once Iron Lady of Asia, Miriam Defensor Santiago, said, "Corruption only exists in a society that allows it." I can't agree with her more.

We know who these two-timing politicians are... sadly, our silence becomes an ENABLER that encourages them to do more of what they excel in. Nobody is complaining... so their clandestine activities continue.

And because everyone had their mouth shut, corruption becomes a VIAGRA that treats the politician's erectile monetary dysfunction... their desire for more money... or the contractor's craving for more dough.

We are the nation that plays three monkeys: we see no evil ... we hear no evil ... and we speak no evil.

We are likened to the three monkeys: Mizaru, Iwazaru, and Kikazaru. It is really condescending that we are compared to monkeys ... of all animals ... but can you blame people if they think of us that way? That is how we behave ... that's why?

This observation originated from a Japanese visual proverb illustrating the principle that if a person wants to avoid trouble, they must pretend they have not seen, heard, or spoken evil.

It is better that way ... safe ka sa pakiramdam mo. walang agam-agam ... walang panganib.

Kailangan pa bang liparin ang ating bubungan ... or do we need another epidemic of leptospirosis to knock our heads off to remind us that we are part and parcel of the reason why our leaders need to steal from us in broad daylight?

Di ba dapat tayo ang magnakaw sa kanila ... not the other way around? And do we still need the FLOOD to remind us of our apathy, indifference, and passivity ... the very main reason why we are languishing in the SEA of corruption?

Tama si Miriam Defensor Santiago. Corruption exists because the Filipino society has allowed it to happen.

The Biggest irony

Tiningnan ko ang aking corruptionary at bolang kristal ... sa lahat ng FLOOD of corruption scandals na NAGPALUBOG sa ating ekonomiya at tiwala na malampasan natin ito... may pag-asa na hindi na tayo MANGU-NGUTANG in the near future.

O ... don't celebrate yet!

When People Hit The Streets

The people's political sentiments can be expressed through protest placards, or one can emblazon their message using T-shirts.

For instance, last September 21 ... when people were angered by corruption, they hit the streets using protest placards and T-shirt messages, which served as visual tools for expressing dissent and advocating for change by capturing attention, conveying clear and concise messages, and amplifying the collective voices of demonstrators.

They are used to raise awareness for issues, hold those in power accountable, foster solidarity among protesters, and generate media coverage, extending the protest's reach beyond the immediate event.

The creativity and personal expression evident in placards also make them a powerful, cost-effective, and memorable component of any demonstration.

Political Shorts

Miron 2: STAR WITNESS? Parang mga STAR kuning-kuning sa ABS CBN (as in Star Circle ... Star Cinema ... Star Patroller ... Star Magic)?

A "STAR WITNESS" is the most crucial and important witness in a legal case whose testimony is vital to the prosecution's or defense's success. This individual's account is considered pivotal to the outcome of a trial or investigation, often because they possess essential information, direct knowledge, or expertise that significantly influences the case.

                                      >>>>>>>>>>>>

Sa kabilang dako ... ang STATE WITNESS (or prosecution witness) is a person, often an accused individual themselves, who has participated in a crime but is discharged by the government or court to testify for the prosecution against co-conspirators in exchange for certain legal benefits, such as immunity from prosecution or inclusion in a witness protection program.

Key requirements for becoming a state witness usually include the absolute necessity of their testimony, the potential for their testimony to be substantially corroborated by other evidence, and that they appear to be less guilty than their co-accused.

                                     >>>>>>>>>>>>>

So can a STATE WITNESS be a STAR WITNESS?

Yes, a state witness can also be a star witness, as the terms describe different aspects of a witness's role and impact in a legal case. A state witness is specifically a person accused of a crime who receives immunity from prosecution in exchange for their testimony against other offenders, especially if they are the "least guilty" conspirator.

A star witness, on the other hand, is a witness whose testimony is crucial and highly impactful to the case, often due to their compelling narrative, unique knowledge, or significant credibility.

                                      >>>>>>>>>>>>>

Going back to the Marcoletas and the Discayas of the world ... the public perception was that something was brewing between these two.

One netizen said: "There was a MAR-DIS (Marcoleta - Discaya) deal." Meaning a backdoor deal between the two of them.

                                      >>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Indeed, public perception between these two is growing increasingly negative.  While reading the comments of netizens, I personally selected the naughty but amusing ones.

-It looked like Marcoleta is the Discaya's lawyer.

-There's something fishy about their unholy alliance.

-Marcoleta insists (almost fighting with Ping Lacson) that everybody should follow the rules. Too bad ... despite all his protests ... he is no longer the chairman.

-Was there bad blood between Lacson and Marcoleta? It looked like the latter resented the former... was that because Ping replaced him as Chairman of the Blue Ribbon?

-Marcoleta is very protective of Curlee and Sara. Maybe Marcoleta has something to hide ... that the Discaya knows.

-Why is Marcoleta lawyering for them? Senator ba siya or abogado nila?

-It is apparent whose side Marcoleta is on.

-One netizen hinted a Marcoleta advocacy: "Nakaw now ... State Witness Later Program

-Marcoleta is obviously hiding something. You can easily tell by looking at his hair.

-Marcoleta is not the senator ng mga Pinoy ... senator siya ng mga Discaya.

-DDS si Marcoleta? - Discaya's Diehard Supporter?

-Marcoleta is worried about the Discaya. Or was he worried para sa kanya o sa mga Duterte?

-Is it okay to steal and become a state witness?

Kayo Na Naman?

"I did it my way ..." at tuluyan na ngang KUMANTA si  Engineer Henry Alcantara. Although mukhang disintunado pa ... at hindi pang-finals sa Pinoy Idol ... or The Voice ... pinatunayan niyang marunong din pala siyang BUMIRIT.

Pwede pasar na yong kanyang mga runs and riffs ... pero yong kanyang mga improvisational musical phrases makikita mo ang character ... it added flair and personality to his song.

He made his sinumpaang salaysay his own ... although at times it is drowned by pregnant sobs and sighs which are distracting ... nonetheless in totality ... his performance is worthy of Pinoys' support, especially those leaning to mawkish and schmaltzy stories ... or a tear-jerking melodramas.

The dynamics of his storytelling vacillate from crescendo to decrescendo ... at times mezzo-pianissimo, but when he was almost knocking at the doorstep of the song's refrain  ... (hudyat na ikanta na niya ang mga pangalan) ... it was all-out fortissimo.

And when the names were out in the open ... there was a drum-roll - a rainbow of emotions sprang up sa mga TV viewers - shock ... surprise ... disappointment ... upset ... relief ... all rolled into one. Totally nerve-wracking and jaw-dropping.

We have seen the previous episodes of this political saga ... and we were privy to all the phony denials ... we have seen the frayed nerves displayed in panavision ... the fiery rebuttals ... the heated confrontations ... the passionate repudiation all recorded 3-D in national TV ... pagkatapos ito pa rin pala ang ending?

At this juncture ... the accused have enough on their plate. Pati rin siguro sila nabigla ... and adding more salt to the wound... they were not around to see and hear how Henry Alvantara belted his "Greatest Performance Of his Life." Nandoon sila sa hearing ng Independent Bommision On Infrastructure.

Just like how I ended my post the other day ... SINADYA ba or COINCIDENCE lang? ITINAON ba ... or NAGKATAON lang na wala sila ... to spare them the biggest jolt this side of their political career.
