Summer Look

Talking about humid and scorching heat ... I seldom used my aircon but when I did yesterday ... the air that was circulating was recycled hot air ... tumatagatak ang pawis ko ... wala na akong magawa kundi patayin ang aircon. Gusto ko man ang lamig ... pero ayaw kung ang feeling na parang nasa pugon ka na ... pagkatapos malaki pa ang mga babayarin at the end of the month sa electrical bills. That's double whammy.

This is the month na kay hirap i-maintain ang FRESHNESS mo.  Bago ka ngang paligo ... nagbihis ... isang hakbang ka pa lang sa labas ... HAGGARD na ang hitsura mo. Ginamit mo pa ang expensive mong pabango ... only to find later na amoy suka ka na.

Ang long sleeves mo na crispy na ibinababad mo pa sa gawgaw para magmukha kang pang-office exec ang dating  ... ay MAASIM na ...  AMOY PAWIS at ARAW pa. Ang mukha mong MAKINTAB na kalahating oras mong sinabon ... back to being OILY and GREASY ulit.

The feeling that you just stepped out of the shower ... is just a state of mind ... because the real summer look will have soon a grand entrance - drained, wilted, sweaty, and worn out.

Hindi na uso ang spic and span and immaculately spotless na get - up going to work. Sa summer ... uso yong parang galing ka sa jogging at sa work out ... or "hinabol ka ng asong ulol" look . Out of character ka ... if you look crisp and crunchy.

Summer nga eh ... kaya panindigan na. Kaya pagpasok mo bukas sa trabaho dapat in character ka. You have to be in sync with your role as a prototypal Pinoy going to work under extreme weather conditions.

If it is summer - a typical Pinoy should look drenched in sweat and perspiration ... if it is rainy ... he is drenched with rain ... or maybe flood.

Ann Curtias Brand of Humor

Ann Curtis is a good sport. She is optimistic about sharing self-deprecating stories with friends and fans and is willing to admit flaws and relive their stories just for fun. She is willing to downplay herself so others can have a hearty laugh. 

She doesn't mind the little blemishes and imperfections she shows whenever she hosts It's Showtime ... and there has never been a day when cohosts and the audience throw in loud guffaws because she misread her cues and mispronounced deep-sounding Tagalog words that have been her Achilles heel as far as hosting is concerned.. She is also willing to go to the extent of making up stories .... just to make them laugh.

Lately, the heat indices have broken records, in Iba Zambales, it has reached the acme of any heat index meters ... reaching as far as 53 degrees Celsius. 

Ann cracked a joke telling her story about people nitpicking on her singing so she said" Sa mga NANLAIT sa boses ko tuwing kumakanta ako ... AT BAKA DAW UMULAN ... ngayon magdusa kayo sa INIT. I won't sing guys ..."

Kahit pilitin ka pa Ann? Kahit magkaroon ng drive campaigns sa buong Pilipinas requesting you to sing ... para humupa man lang ang init ... na para  nang nasa pugon na ang Pinas?

I don't blame the poor guy. When he says double he means - twice the amount ... the number ... or the size. Can't you tell?

Because of the heat ... he is almost wasted ... wilted ... and limp. He is thirsty for crying out loud ... one wonders what Saharan desert he has been to.

Sahara desert in the Philippines? Seems like ... everywhere you go ... the tourism mantra saying "It is more fun in the Philippines" contradicts the very essence of enjoyment and fun.

Everywhere you go is scorching hot  ... any enjoyment and fun derived from profuse perspiration ... the sticky feeling ... the high humidity ... is bordering on masochistic behaviors where one enjoys being scorched and beaten using solar heat.

Anne Curtis - Bulol

 

Ann Curtis is a female version of Ryan Bang. They are both hosts of It's Showtime and it is ironic that both enjoy the best of both worlds (passing the stringent standards of ABS CBN (in hosting) and enjoying the support and love of their fans) 

Despite their inability to talk straight characterized by long pauses ... stuttering and stammering ... (bumbling and stumbling) ... by virtue of their "bulol" one-liners ... netizens are always on the look-out as they elbow each other ... who can dish out the best entertainment meme of the day as they meet dead-ends at deadlines.  

Both are making a name for themselves by making bulol-type hosting ... a sure-fire ingredient to make a balanced battery of hosts. So if Eat Bulaga wonders what makes It's Showtime tick ... they need one host with a speech defect - one that is almost eager to share her idea - but the words get stuck, frozen and glued ... and the idea gets lost in translation. 

When Ann wrote in her account: "Luh. Kumilimlim dito sa QC" ... that was met with friendly and respectful sneers and jeers.  "Ate Ann ... bakit maski sa pagtype bulol ka?"

Like a true trooper ... Ann smiled at the netizen's reaction and dismissed it like a pro.

Can we classify Ann's bungling and bobbling as a SLIP of the tongue or pen?

I don't think so.  From the get-go Ann admits it is hard for her to pronounce or spell Tagalog tongue-twisters (especially yong mga malalim na)... but let her speak in English and she can articulate her thoughts well.  English is her first language ... and Tagalog ... her second. 

Just like Ryan Bang (who is Korean first) ... maintiendihan natin kung ano ang mga gusto nilang sabihin ... hindi man perfect Tagalog ... pero pwede-pasar na. Sila yong mga bulol na cute ... stammering and stuttering ... pero lovable naman.

Slip Of The Tongue

An occasional slip of the tongue ... or a slip of the pen is normal and is quickly forgiven by the person listening or reading... that is ... if they even notice it. Even when they do, most people most of the time will recognize a slip of the tongue or pen for what it is and realize that what you meant to say or write ... is not what you did say or write.

Now hear this: A YouTube vlogger was fuming mad because the Senate hearing has dragged the name of actress Maricel Soriano into the investigation of Malacanang's clandestine use of those "powdery substances". They claimed Maricel would shed light on these illicit activities.

The truth was that Maricel Soriano said to be their anointed whistleblower "ay kapangalan lang pala". Hindi yong DIAMOND STAR na natutunghayan natin sa Linlang.

The vlogger upon knowing this was enraged and indignant. She was frothing in anger as she tries to explain her point "Huwag kayong maniwala sa source ng balita. Pathological liar yan ... as in CONGENISTAL LIAR ..."

Sigi patawarin na natin ... what she meant was CONGENITAL LIAR ...  She was actually livid ... ang taong galit kasi ... kung minsan nabubulol ... sa kagustohang mailabas ang sama ng loob.
