How to revive a blog that is gasping for breath?
1. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to know why blogs are on a downward trend. Twitter and Facebook did it. People finding mobile handy and convenient is another reason. So we need to compete. But how?
2. It needs resuscitation and perhaps a bolus of adrenaline. All that is required is good old fashion persistence.
3. Blogs need a stat blood transfusion for their anemic performance. Maybe we need a relaunching. The process is cumbersome and tedious but we need to pique the member's interest.
4. Just like our computer "We need to reload and reboot." We need to keep our users engaged or maybe attract new readers and members.
5. To new members, let's welcome them by not giving too much censorship and restrictions, especially their comments. I remember the time I was new to this blogging, I made several attempts to respond to pressing issues but it was a waste of time and effort because visitors are few and far between.
6. How about making a regular newsletter, so there will be open communication between the admin and the members.
7. How about highlighting popular content? Or giving members incentives by recognizing their efforts. It is just like a weekly evaluation by the admin of the weeks' output, and they will make a weekly report on who's up and who deserves kudos and a pat on the back.
8. And how about admin giving extra reputation points - say 10 points to the members tackling important issues and finding solutions to problems of this beleaguered industry.
As soon as we palpate a faint pulse back, place the blog in life
support. There is still reason to celebrate as we still see Hope. The best long terms solution for any forum community is to post fresh content on a daily basis. If there are no new posts, it shows stagnation and dormancy. It even gives a perception that we are now closing the curtain and we are on our way out!
And wanting this forum alive takes dedication and persistence and creativity.
