Which One Is Right: Ambiance Or Ambience?

After we use ambiance on our discussion sa isang malutong at mabangong lechon topic below ... may nagtanong kung tama ba ang gamit natin ng ambiance. At may nagdududa kung tama ba ang spelling ko. If course tama ako ... ako pa? Of course hija huwag kang pikon ... dahil tama ka rin.

Ang nagrereklamo complains na mali daw ang ambiance.  Sa pagkaalam niya ambience is the right spelling.

Mali hija ... parehong tama ang dalawa. Ambience is most widely used ... hence more popular. Ambiance is the alternative spelling of the word. It is just getting its momentum ... the next thing we know ... its popularity will zoom like the other one.

Let me just remind you ... ambiance is not a misspelling ... it is another way of spelling it.

The question now is which one would you opt to use ... the popular or the alternative?

After a heart-pounding and emotionally draining finale, Linlang had its swan song last Friday.  Although the viewers will surely miss the first-rate acting ensemble by the lead protagonists (good workhorses are few and far between like Halley's comet appearance) ... the teleserye that is assigned to replace its timeslot looked promising and by the assembly of this formidable cast alone ... one wonders what storyline it will have ... who will dominate and who will rule over and control the acting department ... whose stars will be born ... and whose tour de force performances will reign supreme.

2024 showed us Netflix-worthy nighttime serials started by Dirty Linen, Senior High, The Iron Heart, and High Street and it looked like Pamilya Sagrado could fill up the shoes of its predecessors.

ABS CBN consistently shows they are the best content-provider non-pareil. Two decades back ... serious themes like fraternities and their brutalities are a kiss of death at the tills. Let's see how ABS CBN manages and shampoos these almost untouchable subjects ... delivers important social issues on the front burner and succeeds both commercially and cinematically.

Answer: Oo nga ano ... bakit nga ba? Hindi yan dekorasyon mga tol. There should be some scientific reasons why they have to do that.

I asked a kolehiyala and she told me: "I guess it has something to do with aesthetics or art. Maybe because the apple reduces the feeling of unpleasantness seeing the pig's mouth yawning. Staring at the pig's ghastly open mouth is repulsive ... and disgusting. Yuck".

But taking the answer from a guy who spent his whole life roasting pigs ... he said: "The apple is keeping the pig's mouth open to allow hot air to circulate the pig's insides. Not doing that puts us at risk of eating raw pigs or undercooked lechons. It does make sense di ba?

Other people believe ... it is just following a Hawaiian motif just like the image here? Kailangan ba talaga may "lei" to follow the ambiance? And to be served in a "luau" to further the tone, the character, and the atmosphere of being Hawaiian? May mga pilosopo na nagtatanong: "Di ba mga Filipino tayo ... hindi tayo Hawaiian (FYI ... there are a lot of Pinoys in Hawaii.) Ngayon kung sa Pilipinas tayo pwede na walang lei basta may mansanas. Intiendes?

At may follow up question pa ang mga hinayupaks: "Kailangan ba talaga apple ... hindi ba pwede ang pineapple to make it even more Hawaiian? How about banana ... mango ... or papaya?

Ah basta! Kuliiiiiit!
