Know When To Be Silent

The controversy where a waiter was made to stand for two hours has reached fever-pitched and the way I look at it nobody wins in the verbal fisticuff ... not JB, not the waiter, not the netizens who joined the free-for-all brawl.

When you don't know enough about the problem ... other people are experts and they can't resist the invitation to participate. If your opinion has no bearing on others ... it would be best to remain SILENT ... simply because it is the wisest thing to do.

If there is a risk that your words might unnecessarily hurt someone .... choosing silence can be an act of kindness and maturity.

The waiter controversy lured us to become what we become. We let our emotions dictate us to believe that our actions are the best option available under the circumstances. When we could have chosen to be silent.

The waiter controversy taught us to CHILL ... calm down and relax because we are getting emotional.

Here is a compilation of situations where one needs to resist the urge to comment, critique, and criticize on social media. It is not mine ... but I just want to share it with you.

KNOW WHEN TO BE SILENT

1. Be silent - in the heat of anger.

2. Be silent - when you don't have all the

facts.

3. Be silent - when you haven't verified the

story.

4. Be silent - if your words will offend a

weaker person.

5. Be silent - when it is time to listen.

6. Be silent - when you are tempted to make

light of holy things.

7. Be silent - when you are tempted to joke

about sin.

8. Be silent - if you would be ashamed of

your word later.

9. Be silent - if your words would convey the

wrong impression.

10. Be silent - if the issue is none of your

business.

11. Be silent - when you are tempted to tell

an outright lie.

12. Be silent - if your words will damage

someone else's reputation.

13. Be silent - if your words will damage a

friendship.

14. Be silent - when you are feeling critical.

15. Be silent - if you can't say it without

screaming.

16. Be silent - if your words will be a poor

reflection of your friends and family.

17. Be silent - if you may have to eat your

words later.

18. Be silent - if you have already said it more

than one time.

19. Be silent - when you are tempted to

flatter a wicked person.

20. Be silent - when you are supposed to be

working instead!!

Rain Rain ... Go Away

I hate it ... It's raining again. Maghapong nakakulong sa bahay ... pero ang ulan non-stop. Ayan ... ano pa ba ang inaasahan natin ... mukhang babaha na naman.

Hindi ka na nga makalabas dahil takot ako sa leptospirosis pero ang utak ko ang daming hinahanap: mainit na batchoy, or kahit mami na lang, French fries, Yum Burger at Chowking Chicken Lauriat.

Putsa naman oo. Dahil bumabaha ... O sigi matulog na lang.

The Controversy Has Not Died Down

The waiter's controversy is a customer's story of failed expectation. It is a big LETDOWN especially when the waiter did not come up as expected and failed the customer's litmus test.

Anong litmus test? Kung i-address akong Maam ... siguro nagandahan siya sa akin? Kung SIR naman ... mukha pa rin akong LALAKI?

Personal fantasy came crashing bigtime.

Sabi ni Chris Cahilig director ng Puregold CinePanalo: "KABASTUSAN ang pagtawag ng SIR sa isang nagbibihis babae."

Ang mga netizens ayaw magpatalo.

"KABASTUSAN ding malaki ang ginawa niya sa waiter."

"KABASTUSAN ang pagtawag ng MAAM sa isang may lawit."

"KABASTUSAN sa isang tunay na babae na tawaging kaparehas niya ang isang impostor."

"KABASTUSAN na iaddress na MAAM ang isang walang MATRIS."

"KABASTUSAN ang magdemand na tawaging MAAM kahit may itlog."

Natawa talaga ako. Ayaw paawat.

Naghihingi lang si JB ng RESPETO. Na kung magbihis siya ng maganda tatawagin siyang Maam. Mahirap ba itong ibigay?

Mahirap nga siguro ... kasi siya MISMO  hindi rin kayang magbigay RESPETO sa waiter at sa pagiging tao niya.

Respect is earned ... hindi ini-impose.

Another JB friend Gitri San Diego join the social media melee. "I saw that she was visibly upset. So as her friend, I stood up for her and told the server: "Ang ganda ganda naman ng bihis niya tapos tawagin mo lang na SIR??

Gitri San Diego, saan ba kayo kumuha ng mga ganyang pamantayan na magbihis lang kayo ng maganda and then expect everybody na lumuhod sa inyo? Nasa Constitution ba yan?

Lahat na lang ng argumento ninyo may kababawan. So here is a word of advice. Everytime you go out and your mindset has never changed despite all the daily bashings ... you will just end up getting frustrated. 

Having a Utopian ideology... where you aim and wish for Philippines to be a PERFECT and an IDEALISTIC society for you ... is a fantasy that will never become a reality.

Utopia comes from a Greek word which literally means no place. You spend all your money searching far and wide for your personalized UTOPIA and you will never see one ... because there is no place like that.

The early you realized that ... the better for your SANITY.

 Sabi ng isang netizen kahit naghingi na ng public apology si JB ... hindi daw nila naramdaman ang sincerity.

There is not  a tinge of remorse, guilt or regret na pwedeng mapiga sa kanya.

JB's latest statement: "Suot ko pa lang pang-usa  na ka henerasyon ninyo na na grocery. Paaningkamot mo wag pu bash."

Kita ninyo ... may  nagbago ba diyan?  As the saying goes ... you can't always teach OLD dogs ... NEW tricks.

Bakit ba pag naubusan na ng argumento ang mga ito why do they have to go back to material posessions as RESBAK at sasabihin sa mga bashers na hampaslupa? 

It is a pity that this type of people have to have their photos taken  with all the jewelries from their coffers complete with price tags.  This is so becoming ridiculous and juvenile.

 Earrings P46,000, necklace P318,000, ring P68000, bracelet 156000,  watch - 815000 dress- 10000.

Baka sa sunod na picture  kaha de yero naman napuno ng limpak na pera.

Huwag naman sana mapikon ang langit sa lahat ng kahambogang ito at biglang Niyang bawiin ito.

Harold Alarcon denies insinuations that there is something between him and JB. He pleaded Stop Spreading Wrong Information. "Si Roma Mae lang po ang jowa ko."

Who is spreading the wrong information? Was it the netizens who get infuriated by a nonstop 24-7 noise barrage that accompanied the JB bandwagon in the wake of his controversy. Is he somebody we know?

Harold is (FilOil MVP) and he can be anybody's fantasy ... or trophy... imagined or otherwise.

Some stray Thoughts on The Waiter Controversy

We are still on the waiter issue. Did it occur to you that they are CONFUSED themselves seeing you CONFUSED.

Naisip ninyo ba na nagaalangan din sila? Kung noong ginamit niya ay SIR ... may nagagalit. Baka kung ginamit niya ay MA'AM ... may magagalit rin.

Sala sa INIT ... sala sa lamig!

"Ang ganda-ganda ko naman para tawaging SIR."

Beauty is relative. Each one of us has his own perception of beauty.  Sabi naman ng iba ... Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder.

To make it blunt: Kung gandangganda ka sa sarili mo ... don't expect that everybody will share the same opinion.

Sabi ng isang netizen: "Baka ang tingin na niya sa sarili ay si BARBIE siya?

At sinagot naman ng isa: He is still a KEN.

"Bago kayo maghate sa akin ... look what I have achieved ..." Ikaw pa talaga magisa-isa ng achievements mo? Too self-serving.

Sabi nga ng isang SUCCESSFUL na kaibigan ... you don't brag about your achievements. Nakikita yan ng tao. 

Let SUCCESS speak for itself.

The image above has become ICONIC.  Ang waiter ay parang erring student na pinatawag sa principals office at winawarnigan.

Kulang na lang padipahin ang kamay sa harap ng masungit na head-teacher.

And while we are at it ... hindi ba kayo nagtatanong kung bakit ginamit ni Maam na extension ng kanyang classroom ang isang restaurant?

At okey lang ba sa owner ng restaurant na gawing playground ni Maam ang kanyang negosyo? For sure nalugi siya nang araw na iyon.

Sino ba naman ganahan kumain eh may nakahandusay na guidance counsellor venting out his frustrations sa lalaki.

It just doesn't feel right the owner and the supervisor of the restaurant ENABLING a vengeful friend. Imagine ginawa nang circus ang negosyo okey pa rin kay friend?

And what's this we read that some quarters are demanding a boycott of this place?

Kailangan na ring manindigan ng owner. Wala ba siyang yagbols para malaman ang tama at mali?

In the sea ng masasakit na salita sa internet ni isang paliwanag o salita mula sa kanila ... wala?

Mas matimbang pa ba ang friendship ... o mag-unfriend  na sila dahil hinihila na ang negosyo sa kankongan.

Iba talaga ang magawa ng pera.  When money TALKS everyboody LISTENS!

A lot of job offers are floating if the waiter decides to resign. Well-meaning unknowns who have bigger hearts are willing to extend their generosity  ... domestic man or abroad.

Yan ang tunay na diwa ng Kristiyanismo. Makonsiyensiya man sana ang mga taong hambog na marami nga silang na-achieve pero SALAT naman sa gandang asal.
